I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

My Afib spells were less but it made my asthma worst to where I had to use inhalers more often. Also caused irrability and depression. Doc has changed me back to what I was using.

It has caused leg cramps, tightness in neck, and weight gain along with swelling. It has helped bring blood pressure down but not worth side effects! Going to see DR. in two days and going to get off of medicine after 2 months of use.

Has lowered my bp some over 12 months, but it's still in the 130/85 range. But it's causing shortness of breath, cold hands and feet, and especially cramps in my calves, feet and sometimes hands. Has anyone else had these cramps? thanks

Have taken for 2+ weeks after use of Atenolol for BP control but mostly post pacemaker insertion for tachy-brady syndrome, to control tachycardic "spurts". Just went from 5mg to 10mg. Less fatigued & sleepy. Have GAINED WEIGHT which is NOT good. BP control good. The weight gain will send me back to Atenolol, though.

Starting taking 5mg of Bystolic once daily and at first no side effects. After 3 weeks started experiencing loss of sleep, muscle spasms and cramps, weight gain. Muscle spasms and cramps being the worse! It did help lower blood pressure, but not worth the side effects in my opinion. Dr has taken me off Bystocic and has said it could take several weeks for it to get out of my system. Would not recommend this drug to anyone!

This medication worked very well for me. The only downside of the side effects is the fatigue. I was very exausted all the time. Unfortunatly insurance companies won't cover this, so now I am on a new medication.

I have been very satisfied with this medication. There seems to be no adverse effects and I have not experienced any sort of medical reactions, mood swings etc. I am only taking the lowest 5 MG dosage and it maintains my blood pressure at an ideal rate.

I have high blood pressure which under control with Lisinopril 123/70ish. Had very scary fibrillations. Low magnesium was said to be the cause. Doctor recommended change to Bystolic to help control the fibrillations. Took 5mg for 3 days and experienced: difficulty falling asleep, ice cold hands/feet, pain in shoulder blades, mild headaches, raised blood pressure 140/90 (one morning 153/100), along with low heart rate 68. After reading reviews on this website, and my symptoms, I have switched back to Lisinopril. Read More Read Less

The side effects are manageable, but it causes joint pains and swelling of the feet. You really have to watch your sodium intake and drink plenty of water.

I WAS PUT ON THIS DRUG FOR RAPID HEART RATE, THE FIRST DAY IT MADE ME EXTREMELY TIRED. HAD TO GO LAY DOWN BEFORE I FELL DOWN, I FELT LIKE I HADN'T SLEPT FOR DAYS. THE NEXT 2 DAYS WERE THE SAME PLUS DIZZINESS. THE 4TH NIGHT I HAD PROBLEMS BREATHING, TIGHTNESS IN THE CHEST, FELT LIKE SOMEONE WAS SITTING ON MY CHEST. I AM NOW VERY SORE AROUND RIBCAGE AND NECK AND WILL STOP TAKING THIS DRUG.

I was put on this medication just over six months ago because my previous med had basically quit controlling my hypertension. I am extremely pleased with Bystolic, as it has my BP under control and I have no side effects whatever. It cost a little bit more than some meds, but is worth it in my opinion.
