I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

I am curious if anyone has had wired dreams. I have had dreams within dreams. It is very unnerving. I have been on the drug for about two months. I also have Sharp back pain when I sneeze. I don't know if this is related. My ear canal has had the problems most people have talked about. Did not know it was from the drug. Good to know.

Have been on for 6 mos. Have weight gain, gas, diarrhea, severe indigestion, stomach discomfort, worsening tinnitis, bloating. I do not feel better on this med. Have had worsening heart palpatations too. Going to DR to review this med. and find another med better suited and with less side effects.

Since taking this medication, it is the only change I can think of that has made me feel depressed. My doc started me on it because I was tachycardic & stopped my other BP medication. I am now unmotivated & lack energy I once had in abundance. I was an A personality & now a C within a matter of a month being on this med. I want to go back to the person I was even though I was stressed much of the time!!!

There is a long list of other drugs that interact badly with Bystolic. I took St Johns Wort, an over the counter antidepressant-didn't realize it was on the list. The immediate result was engorged ear canals. The first time this happened I thought I had an ear infection. Thru trial and error I figured out the St Johns was causing it. I even let months go by before trying one St Johns pill again-immediate engorging of ear canals ensued. Be sure to check out the list of contraindicated medications.Read More Read Less

I am not sleeping. I thought that beta blockers were suppose to help with anxiety and sleep.

Not sure, but since beginning Bystolic I have a severe burning in my chest, and some s;ight chest pain, have been taking Zantac to relieve it, not helping. Was checking here to see if anyone else had this problem. Don't understand how it can be the pills.

I was diagnosed with an aortic aneurism of the ascending aorta. Have to watch my blood pressure very carefully. It took about 3to 4 weeks to get used to it, but I do very well with it. I watch my weight and diet, take Azor too. The only side affects I have are vivid dreams and slow heartbeat, but it is not as low as it was with another beta blocker I had before. I am very pleased with the Bystolic and have been taking it for about three years.

Was on lopressor for 3 years-blood pressure went up to 140/80. Dr. put me on bystolic. Started 10mg-then 20mg-to strong-now on 15mg. Hve been on it for 3 months. Blood pressure goes down and jumps back up. 3 weeks ago started weight gain-gain 8 pounds in 1 week. Got muscle aches and cramps in calfs. Have been getting shortness of breath going up stairs and occasional tightness across chest.Have started having sleep problems. Time to get off this drug and try another beta blocker.

Constant headaches, dizziness, fatigue, stabbing pain on side of my rib cage, red eyes. If that is not enough, I feel like I'm freezing cold even when inside 72deg room. Very often, my arms/hands/feet feel numb/tingling and cold. Lowered my BP and pulse to normal range, but I can't take the side effect any longer (3 months of use). There has to be something better out there.

I have been taking this for high BP, am so tired and have weight gain that is out of control, looks like I am ready to give birth at any moment, muscle spasms in my legs and breast area, just want to sleep forever, no energy at all. Until I read some of these posts I had no idea it could be the meds causing all of this. Going to call and see if I can back to my old meds. At least I was not zombified and getting fat!

I am mid 50's overweight work 50hrs a week desk job/couch potato, controlled for many years on Cozaar, started getting early am headaches again, added Bystolic ~6mos ago. Scary drug-I have experienced vertigo for first time in my life; an event called exploding head syndrome which coincided with also taking calcium caramels and baby aspirin resulting in swollen painful ear canals; pounding heart that starts when Bystolic is due and stops after Bystolic; ankle edema which I didn't have before; salty foods suddenly affecting my bp;currently dealing with urticaria I suspect. It did lower my bp again, but doesn't seem like its safe.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, enlarged heart muscles restricting blood flow resulting in chest pains and in my upper arms. I am a server of 40yrs and couldn't even finish a 2 hour shift with a brisk pace during peak dinner hours. I started taking Bystolic and noticed a significant difference my first day back at work. While my managers are keeping me in a small station near the kitchen, before taking Bystolic, I still had some chest pain but not into arms and had to keep a slow pace. On my first night back, still in small station by the kitchen, I did not come close to feeling the chest pain and felt more my old self. My managers even commented that my color was much better and seemed more my old self.Read More Read Less

After reading a few reviews, I felt compelled to weigh in. While it was/is somewhat effective for b/p, the side effects that I've experienced and read from other users here are muscle twitching, lethargy,my eyes burning, a severe pain behind my ear(WTF?),spaced out dizziness impaired sexual function----great stuff

My bp is still not normal after 12 mos on drug. Side effects are horrible and include severe weakness at least amount of activity, body aches and now depression. Doctor is not sympathetic and I am thinking of seeing new physician. On BenicarHCT also and am frightened about how I feel.
