I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

Taken for 3 days and have diahrrea, stomach bloating, vomiting, severe gas. I would NOT recommend anyone take this medication as the side effects are not worth it!!! There are MANY blood pressure med's out there that work great and don't have these terrible side effects!!! BEWARE!!!!!

Bystolic makes me sweat sweat sweat especially in the early morning hours. I have been on this pill for about a year and half and I always feel tired and feel as if I am walking in a fog. I feel dizzy and light headed. For the first time ever my blood tests came back with slightly elevated liver enzymes! Time to change meds or doctor! I want to feel human again.

Have been on 5mg Bystolic/Benicar for one month, bp is fantastic 118/82. First three weeks was horrible, but I blame it on me going cold turkey on the chewing tobacco after 25 years. The doc put me on lexapro as well. I have noticed some chest tightness and shortness of breath on days when it is more humid. I generally lift and do cardio every day. Exercise is coming back slowly, will probably never be the same but its better than being 6 feet under. For the first time in my life I can go to sleep without worrying that my heart is going to explode. resting pulse is down to 64. A little tough to get the pulse up during exercise 102. A little tired, cough, but It takes time for opur bodies to adjust to such a severe change. I was rushed to the emergency room from almost passing out, my BP was 220/190, generally I was rolling at 150/100. Felt great alll the time but I was killing myself. This is my first real experience with BP meds so for me Bystolic has been great.Read More Read Less

I take this drug to control atrial fibrillation and BP. It does a good job keeping both in check, but leaves me very tired. It also causes me to perspire with the least effort. The side effects have not diminished in time - I wish there was another drug for me with less side effects!

I am taking this drug to treat excessive PVCs and shortness of breath. It has nearly taken away all the PVC but I'm now experiencing some side effects after two months on it. Increased depression, increased pain, increased insomnia, nausea are some of the side effects.

My doctor prescribed Bystolic 10 mg and then 20 mg after taking me off Exforge 10/320 mg (at my request due to various side effects) and Tekturna 300 mg. I was taking both for about 2 yrs and then developed some uncomfortable side effects such as hot flashes (which really sucks in this hot summer) occasional muscle pain/weakness, fatigue/tiredness and depression from the side effects. My pressure was good ranging from 120/80 to 136/88 at my last doctor's visit. I've been on Bystolic for about 3 weeks, about one week at 20 mg and haven't experienced a marked decrease in my blood pressure (my pressure spiked after getting off Exforge and Tekturna alone did not work), 178/110 and have the uncomfortable experience of hot flashes, trouble sleeping at night, some chest pains, itching, and EXCESSIVE sweating. My doctor has tried other drugs with Bystolic, (including Tekturna) Ramipril and Benicar, but I've had to discontinue both after a few days after allergic reactions to both (itching all over). I have an allergy to sulfa in medications and most bp diuretics are sulfa drugs. I've requested to go back on Exforge, at a smaller dosage, and Tekturna, because at least my bp was under control with the side effects and not itching! Really frustrated at this point and afraid to continue trying any more sulfa bp medicines that I'm allergic to. Now I understand my doctor's concerns/frustration with prescribing me meds for my pressure.Read More Read Less

i had taken bystolic for about 5 months. I had started with stomach pains first then it would go away. Long story short this month i ended up in hospital over week. doctors could not figure out why i could not stop throwing up and have bad stomach pains. I had about 5 tests done for other things that could cause this but all tests came back negative. Finally one of the hospitals doctors evaluated my medication and changed my blood pressure pills. For the first time in months i slept all night. Bystolic almost killed. Please read side effects because I had most of them.Read More Read Less

After heart ablasion surgery my blood pressure and heart rate was a little high started on Bystolic 10mg then went to 5 then 2.5 and after 6 weeks side effects were too much. Headaches, sweating, stomach upset fatigue and slightly depressed. I have been off for 9 days and feeling much better. Bystolic was great at bringing down the blood pressure and keeping heart rate down just the side effect the problem.
