I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

Been taking Bystolic 5 mg for over a year, about 5 months ago started having severe hip, back, leg and feet pain to the point I could hardly get off the chair. I couldn't even walk without a bending over and walking up stairs was almost impossible. I just turned 62 and never had so much trouble. Stopped taking it, all went away. Doctor did blood work all was fine, even scheduled for an MRI on back and hip. I am going to doctor today, will get off this and be very careful what I let them put me back on. Not sure the doctors know many side effects of the meds they prescribe to us.Read More Read Less

Was prescribed along with my other BP meds to reduce sytolic a little. I was taking 5mg a day. After 1 week I started falling asleep at work. My pulse rate went way down and even going to the gym I could not get it to a decent level. My systolic still stayed elevated. DONT TAKE THIS ONE

Overall this drug did what I wanted it to do. The side effects defeated its whole purpose. I had terrible sleep distuption, my hair was falling out, swelling of the ankles and stomach problems. Most of these I thought were manageable but it got to the point that I got tired of it. My Dr finally took me off and almost immediately I felt better. My hair really hasn't shown much change but I have only been off Bystolic for a week. My swollen ankles are no longer and I haven't had any sleep disturbance to deal with. The dizziness was a real problem. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. My Dr had originally told me that there weren't any side effects but once I started experiencing these side effects I checked it out on the web, I realized that this wasn't the drug for me. This is a devil drug. Altered my sleep pattern, major fatigue, weakness, blurred vision and most of all feeling like I was always hoarse and short of breath. Developed chronic dry annoying cough. By the end of my day I could hardly speak above a whisper. Started having cramps as well. Left the drug off a couple of days and noticed immediate change. Have contacted cardiologist and will not be taking it again.

This drug has got to be the drug from Hades. It causes fatigue, nervousness, wake up in the middle of the night can't go back to sleep, muscle cramps, weight gain, inability to tolerate cold, the list goes on and on. My Ob-GYN Dr wanted me to see a psych!! I KNEW something was wrong (and not mentally) The nervousness thing is awful, all caused by Bystolic. Would not recommend to anyone. Will have to change to another Dr, they refuse to listen. Thank goodness for this website.

I experienced severe digestive problems with this drug. I took this med for over a year, and it did very little to lower my BP. Gas, cramping, and heartburn were just a few of my side effects, when I began having nighttime sweats, I knew I had to quit taking this drug. I am currently on Benicar, and am a 'new' person! Bystolic was a costly drug that caused a lot of pain!

I was on 10 mg, now am on 20 mg. I don't hear my heart beating anymore, but I have gained weight, lost my appetite almost completely, the skin on my legs and face burn something terrible, expecially at night, I have severe dry skin. I can't sleep through the night any longer. I also experience the fog. Something has to give here.

Well Ive been on 20mg Bystolic for about a year and a half. I feel like I'm in dazed feeling quite a bit. I do get the shortness of breath and tightness of the chest. Im confused bc Ive been told I have anxiety as well.... The dazed feeling I feel just about everyday scares me so im wondering if the Bystolic is bringing that on then causing then causing the Anxiety bc Im worried about the dazed thing? My Doc feels like Its seperate.... I suspect the Bystolic is the culprit. I dont want to quit using it bc it has lowered my BP, but like others, Im really tired by late afternoon and a very low sex drive.... Does anyone else get this dazed feeling or feeling like your in a fog feeling while taking the bystolic? ThanksRead More Read Less

Only been on bystolic for 3 days, but so far the only side is a dull headache.I've tried a dozen different drugs, but they all have some sort of side effects that are annoying. I don't think there is a "perfect" bp med. So you have to take the bad with the good sometimes! I also suffer from Fibromyalgia. Feeling like crap is norm for me, so having a great bp is worth some small side effects!
