I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

After 4 days on 10mg, I had to leave work because I was so dizzy and lightheaded. Felt very "confused" and overwhelmingly sleepy. I don't want to continue, even at a lower dose...I was on metoprolol for a yr with no side effects but then it stopped working. I should have just increased that instead of changing. This stuff is horrible!

If this is a repeat, I appologize! Been taking Bystolic for about 2 years. Once in that time they tried me on a less expensive med, it just did not work at all. I have a-fib, almost constantly. Bystolic has stopped it almost completely. Instead of fib happening several times a minute, now it is maybe 3 times in a week. Huge success! Have not had any side effects, maybe dry mouth, but I'd rather have that than the a-fib! I no longer have to constantly worry about my heart every beat it takes, relief.Read More Read Less

Sorry if this is a repeat, but after 2 days I think my first comment did not make it!! 2 years on this medication, perfectly happy with it. I can go most of the day without the necessity of thinking about what my heart was doing -- simply because it is doing what it is supposed to do! Instead of a-fib every minute, it only happens once or twice a week! Everyone responds to meds differently, as for me, Bystolic works better than any other.

I was also told that there would be few side effects. I have lots of abdominal bloating and gas, also very breathless upon exertion. Now having anxiety almost to the point of panic attacks. Had a significant weight gain without increasing food intake.

I am on 20mg daily, about 2 years, for atrial fibrillation. A-fib had been happening almost non-stop. Bystolic lowered my BP and calmed my heart almost completely. A-fib now happens once or twice a week instead of every minute, only when I am most stressed, and then mildly. Tried other beta-blockers, nothing else worked for me. Every one responds differently to medication. This works for me.

Have been taking 20 mg for about one year get occasional headaches. Periods during the day I becime extremely tired and for the last month or so my blood pressure has been running low ranging in the area of 100/60 and then return to normal. The doctor does not seem to be concerned and is scheduling me for blood work and additional checks on my blood pressure.

I used Bystolic for several months. My blood pressure was well controlled with this drug plus a diuretic. After about 6 weeks, I began experiencing diarrhea daily, after every meal, sometimes throughout the night. After 6 WEEKS of trying different diets and testing my stools, I decided the only thing I'd done differently was take Bystolic. Two DAYS after I stopped the medication, the diarrhea went away.

I have taken Bystolic for a few years for skipped heartbeats. It has worked perfectly up to now; however, recently, I have experienced a return of skipped beats. They occur randomly and several times a day. Sometimes, they occur two or three in sequence. This has begun to concern me because the medication suddenly has become ineffective and the skipped beats are occurring frequently.

I have tigthness in chest, darker urine. I have been taking this for over one week and has not changed my top number on the blood pressure. I do not like this medication. Sounds dangerous. Also has been a huge drop in pulse.

I have been taking Bystolic for 6 months to help lower my diastolic blood pressure. Diovan helped to lower my systolic reading but wasn't helping my BP at rest. Cardiologist started me on 10mg of Bystolic, and systolic readings soon dropped from mid 90's to upper 60's, now consistently in the 70's. I feel a little sluggish at times but it's nothing major. Bystolic works for me and will likely stay on this medicine.

Instead of lowering my Blood Pressure this mediciation actually raised my Blood Pressure to the point of two trips to the Emergency Room and several days out of work. It has taken over two months to finally get my Blood Pressure under control.

I have been on this medication for three months to replace Metoprolol. I am tired of insomnia which naturally leads to fatigue and sluggishness. It is a vicious cycle. I used to place my head on the pillow & sleep. Now it is difficult to rest & heart palpitates upon reaching prone position. Exhausted & heart is overworked due to lack of sleep.
