I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

First, I want to caution anyone taking a beta blocker NOT to quit cold turkey. It is very dangerous, will make your BP go absolutely crazy and you will feel horrible. I took Inderal in the past, but had to quit because I couldn't get motivated to do much of anything, had exercise intolerance and Raynaud's syndrome (blue fingertips in response to cold temps). I was skeptical taking the bystolic, but have found the side effects to be fewer, my BP is now under control, and I've had fewer Migraines. Here are the side effects I've had so far: Hair loss, decreased libido and sexual response, fatigue while exercising. No Raynaud's so far, but we are just entering the winter months. Effective in lowering systolic pressure - my diastolic pressure and pulse have been normal. Side effects: fatigue in the middle of the day, some feelings of depression and vivid dreams.

I have been taking this medication for a year. Starting with 5mg daily but felt weak, very tired, sweating all the time, annoying headaches. Dose decreased to 2.5mg daily. Symptoms became worst. I had severe chest pains, neck pains, pain in lower and upper extremities, dizziness, tired, out of breath. It almost felt like I was having a heart attack. it did not lower my blood pressure, the upper number stayed high, sometime the lower number. be careful of this medication, because in the beginning the symptoms are subtle. Also I was not sleeping well. I stopped taking this medication.Read More Read Less

My blood pressure was 180/100, I took one pill and the next day my blood pressure was 128/78. No side effects. I love it! I have been on Bystolic for about 6 months and my pressure is typically 118/68
