I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

Bystolic brought my blood pressure down, fast. Too fast. It was 237/103 one day and taking Bystolic the next, 100/20. I'm trying taking it every other day and within 24 hours of taking it I have at least one episode of my face becoming hot and red, my hands shaking and feeling so weak when I get up that I can only walk a few feet before sitting down again. During these episodes my heart pounds so hard it feels like I'm throbbing all over. I think I need a smaller dose than what is manufactured. But nothing else brings my BP down. What a mess!Read More Read Less

I have been on Bystolic for a year now and what I have experienced is fatigue, depression, and swollen ankles. I tried once to get off but my pulse goes up to 90+. It is good to keep it down but everyone says there are no side effects. Yeah right!

Gave me mild nausea, but more importantly didn't lower my blood pressure.

Iam taking 10mg. daily but my readings are 134-142/84-86. I feel this drug should be more effective.Benicar and Losarten were my last assignments and they kept me in the 120/80 range. My family physician changed this medication because of a uncontrollable cough. His suspicians were confirmed because the cough is now gone.

I am being treated for mitral valve prolapse. I was having palpitations, dizziness, headaches, lightheadness, and major fatigue. I was getting off work early due to the fatigue. I started bystolic a week ago, and just yesterday, I had a full days work, my energy is back, The only side effect that I have is not sleeping as well at night. The past 2 nights have been hard to sleep. I do not know if that is from the meds or not.

Initially, I presented with high blood pressure in the range of 140-150 / 95-110. I exercise regularly and have never had a health problem prior. After I was put on the mediction, at first was extremely fatigued while taking it in the morning. Switched to taking it shortly before bedtime and symptoms dissapeared almost completely after sleeping a full night. Blood pressure is now completely uunder control with diastolic at 72-78. Take at nighttime to reduce fatigue.

my BP was 140/90 to 150/95, with heart rate 89-95. I am an anxious person, not overweight, though I don't watch what I eat and am somewhat sedentary these days. I started on 10 mg, and the BP dropped to 109/65, with pulse of 58. Mild, transient light-headedness, but no other side effects, and I felt fantastic. Doc agreed to lower the dose to 5 mg, same BP numbers. During this time, I also restricted my intake of sodium and caffeine, so I don't know if that also helped the numbers. I'm down to 2.5 mg, and the numbers did tick upward, but now a more "normal" 120/75. At this lower dosage though, I am much more susceptible to anxiety-induced spikes in BP & pulse. But once the situation resolves, I am back down to the new numbers.Read More Read Less

This drug is POISON!! I took one pill of Bystolic 5mg yesterday morning and within 4 hours I thought I was dying. Severe fatigue, tingling in fingers and toes, severe anxiety, trouble breathing, flushing, headache. I could go on and on... I called the doctor and told him I would not be taking any more Bystolic!! He put me back on my former Coreg and just increased its dosage. Today, thank God, I'm back to normal. Trust me... Do not take this drug!!!!!

I had sever broncospasm while taking this medication and had to resort to a nebulizer for treatment. It did control my blood pressure quite well, but I have a history of asthma. I also noticed that when I quit taking the medication, the pain in my shoulder joit subsided a great deal.
