I've been taking this for a little over a month now. My heart rate and blood pressure have both dropped greatly. Here's the downside, I have become very tired and sluggish and have been packing on the pounds like a bear preparing for winter.

Been taking 5 mg of Bystolic for months, went up to 10 mg and having horrible sweating! I’m not sure what causes this, but can’t do it anymore. It’s constant. Does anyone else have this issue?

I've been taking this drug for nearly 2 months now and have stopped it. It dropped my blood pressure greatly (low blood pressure level) from normally 119/78 to 92/65, which I don't have an issue with high blood pressure and lowered by heart rate. It initially increased by blood pressure and then started lowering it. The side effects are extremely terrible for me. I've had night sweats, water retention, insomnia, cold feet, diminished sexual drive, and lack of energy/motivation. This was my first time having to take any type of these drugs.Read More Read Less

taking it for 5 years. Have resistant hypertension so tried every med over the last 25 years. This works, but it is expensive. Each year I have to get a waiver to get the 2.5mg twice a day. My provider thinks I should take a large dosage once a day. My dr. disagrees and wants a smaller dosage bid. Just who is my dr. here, the insurance company????

I am taking Bystolic and will no longer take this drug. I have gained over 40 lbs and no matter what I have tried nothing works to lose the weight. I even did crossfit for a year and did not lose 1 single lbs. No change in my diet. Also I have no sex drive. I am switching back to an ace inhibitor.

I've been suffering from two of its common side effects: Numbness and coldness in my feet with an itchy rash that's driving me crazy. I thought it was caused by something else until I looked it up. I am about to contact my doctor.

Through the years have been on every type of BP medication, all with severe side effects so thought it was wonderful when my Dr. put me on Bystolic and had few side effects, mostly headache, and kept my BP down; however being on Bystolic for 1 1/2 years now I began to get sick with breathing issues, chest pain, swelling on the serious side and feel this is due to the Bystolic on reading hundreds of reviews. Plan to discuss with my Dr.

I was taken off Carvedilol because of side effects and put on Bystolic. This is the most horrible medication. My head swelled to the size of a basketball, as well as my feet. I couldn't even walk. Plus, I had episodes where I felt my heart actually stopped and much of the time, it was if my heart was quivering. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG, it is dangerous! Try something else, if at all possible.

I had been taking Bystolic for about 60 days BP. Every day my skin was feeling itchy, burning and sensitive to the touch. I couldn't eat anything which had citric acid or tomato. The problem was so bad that I was going to the emergency room . Most of the time the problem was after I showered and it took an hour for the pain to relief. My Dr took me off it right away

I had slightly elevated BP and was placed on this to help reduce it. It initially worked as my bp was reduced to about 120/65. After two months I started having headaches, feeling tired and my BP has shot to 150/90 with a pulse 35/45. We are switching medications as of today.

Before treatment, my blood pressure was borderline high, and it has been lowered significantly (i.e. 127/70 with heart rate of 68). I am taking the lowest dose 2.5 mg. once a day at night. I have had one episode of swollen ankles, but no repeat. But now I am tired all the time. I never before slept during the day, but now take 2, 2hr naps on nearly every day. I feel like I am in a fog and my quality of life is zero. Thankfully I visit my cardiologist tomorrow and hopefull will get some help.Read More Read Less

Doctor put me on Bystolic 5mg for chest pain and to give my heart a steady beat. It worked for both but after 3 years my insurance won't pay for it so the doc switched me to Meteprolo 25mg. The Bystolic performed as advertised but my side affects were; ankle pain, joint pain, arms and hands falling asleep at night, and blurred vision. The Meteprolo was worse. It caused major fatigue, brain fog, runny nose and muscle cramps. Beta blockers are no good. Going back to Verapamil and I'll deal with the constipation. Read More Read Less

I switched to 5mg of Bystolic from 25mg of Atenolol. Bystolic has done a great job controlling my blood pressure and heart rhythm. I am experiencing a few unsettling side effects. More anxiety, insomnia and weird sensations in my chest. I sometimes feel like bursts of adrenaline are trying to break through. I also feel occasional muscle aches in my chest. I've been on it fit 2 months. If the anxiety and chest discomfort continue, I will be stopping this.
