Yea! No more periods. I started taking this after starting with Seasonique. You absolutely must take it at the same time every day. I cannot believe that I suffered through horrible PMS and periods all of these years. I was actually pondering a voluntary complete hysterectomy it was getting so bad. Last week I was in my closet and stumbled across my stack of boxes of tampons and pads I used ...

I took this pill for about a month. I was told that I may experience spotting since I started taking mid cycle. I started spotting then bleeding which lasted continuous until I completely stopped this pill. At least 11 days. I agree this pill probably effects people differently. I, however, had horrible side effects. The bleeding was heavy and I had worse cramps than my normal period. I also belie...

All other "acne helping" b/c pills possible, I've tried. From crazy mood swings, to lengthy, heavy periods...they just weren't for me. Lybrel is amazing! I feel great, no moodiness, no period. Breakthrough bleeding only the 1st month with my body getting used to it. And, my face finally looks as it should. 30 years old is not an age to have to worry about acne, and finally - I don't. Thank you LYBREL. :)

I started Lybrel a little over 3 years ago. I remember at first, I had almost a constant period for about a month, but after that it stopped and I've only had spotting a few times in the 3 years. I'm very satisfied with Lybrel and will continue to use it. I'm going to take a break just becuase it seems like it may be time after 3 years, non stop. I'm also having stomach issues lately, and I would like to see if maybe Lybrel is the cause because I did notice that was one of the side effects listed. I'll post again with results. I have been taking Lybrel for about 9 months now. I take it due to suspected endometriosis, dysmenorrhea and progesterone sensitive migraines. I have not had any periods or spotting since starting this. I do get moody still around the 28 day mark. My body hasn't totally adjusted yet it seems. I have had no changed in acne, desire, etc. I have not had issues with weight gain, depression, etc. Overall, this has worked well for me. My migraines are under better control and I don't have horrible periods anymore.Read More Read Less

I started Lybrel as the first kind of pill I had ever used about 2 years ago. I have always had irregular periods, so no periods was very appealing to me. Unfortunately I never really stopped bleeding all together, and now, I sort of bleed a tiny bit most of the time. I was moody and would cry for no reason for about the first two months, but ever since then I have had no bad side effects at all. Since I never had a reliable bleeding schedule the unpredictability doesn't bother me too much and it is always light. I am starting to look at non-pill forms of b.c. but I have been overall happy with this.Read More Read Less

I LOVE this pill. I was on Yasime prior and would "back-up" my pill for months. During the first 6 months I would get random spotting, nothing to heavy, but for the past year I have not had a period at all and it is wonderful. I have not experience mood swings, cramping, bleeding. I did experience some weight gain (about 10 lbs) and I find my breasts are a bit "lumpier" at varying times of the month. Overall I highly recommend.

I was prescribed Lybrel to control my migraines. I was on it for a year and bled every day (heavier than breakthrough bleeding, more like a mini period). Twice I hemorrhage and each time it lasted a full week. I went off it and my hair immediately started falling out. Five months later I'm thrilled to be off the stuff, but barely have a hair on my head. Just can't win! I wish I'd never tried Lybrel. I never had this problem with Loestrin 120. I went off and on it throughout the years to have my three children. Never had any breakthrough bleeding or lost any hair when going off. I recommend you all stay away from Lybrel!Read More Read Less

I thought I was having an unusual experience on Lybrel until I read some of these reviews, so I'll share my experience as well, so more women will be informed about this pill. I started taking Lybrel mid-menstrual cycle (with approval from my physician), so I knew I would still have a period during the first pill pack. I had no problems at all until it was time for my period to come, at which time I started spotting. I had spotting for a few days, and then I had a full period that lasted 12 days (5 days or so is normal for me). I thought it was probably because I had started the first pack mid-cycle, so I continued taking the rest of the first pack, and then started the second pack. After my period ended, I still had spotting and light breakthrough bleeding every single day, until I started my period again, exactly when my regular cycle should have started, except again, it was days longer than usual. Even after the second period stopped, I've had light breakthrough bleeding every day. I need effective birth control, and wanted the convenience of no periods, but I have given up hope that this pill would work for me. A few days of spotting would have been ok, but dealing with spotting and bleeding every single day for over a month has become far more inconvenient than what it's worth, so I made a doctor's appointment to get switched to a new pill. This BCP is not as miraculous as it sounds.Read More Read Less

I started taking ortho tri cyclen at 17 and took that for awhile. I then switched to the Nuva Ring and after playing "ring toss" too many times with that I switched to seasonale I finally decided to try lybrel last November and I am so glad I did. I have been on it for a year now and its the BEST birth control I have ever been on. I haven't had a period since January not one drop its awesome. I recommend just trying it even if your DR doesn't even know what it is like mine did you wont regret it. Read More Read Less

I take two packs in a row and then take a 4 day pill-free interval. I have very good luck with this pill, and have reduced my periods to every other month. After the initial pack, I have had ZERO side effects. It is the best pill I have ever taken. After years of looking for a good pill, I have found it.... I just don't use it to try to avoid my period completely. My period is very light and cramp free... no decrease in sex drive, either. I was jsut a little tired during the first pack.

I began taking Lybrel two weeks or more ago and I started not when it said in the pentathlete but 1 1/2 weeks before my period(I could only do this because I am not sexually active and do not recommend doing this). I am truly happy with this drug. I haven't had any bleeding at all and I never feel like I am going to begin my period. I'm ecstatic. My only problem is my anger at some points...i'm not usually an angry person but i get mad really easily now. The problem I believe most people are having is that their not taking it at the SAME time every day...that 30 mins changes your level of the drug inside your body that needs to be regulated in order for this to work. But Im not a medical doctor this is just my finds of a project from school. Read More Read Less

I was on Mircette to control long/heavy periods and was switched to Lybrel about 1 1/2 years ago to control the menstrual migraines. It did seem to lessen the frequency of the migraines, but I have experienced frequent bleeding...much heavier than the spotting I expected. It finally was progressing to a constant "period-like" blood flow for the past couple of months. I also noticed my hair thinning on the top of my head for the past several months. Enough is enough...I called my Dr. and got off of this stuff a couple of weeks ago, and the bleeding stopped about 4 days after discontinuing the Lybrel. Here's hoping my hair returns! I think I stuck with this stuff long enough to give it a fair trial, and I tried to be extremely careful about taking it at the same time each day.Read More Read Less

I went thru the first 4 months still bleeding & waiting out the time for it to completely stop my periods. It worked for 5 months no period, no spotting. However since then I've been on my period for a month straight, & having horrible cramping. I take my pill every morning between 7& 7:30 & have not faltered. Also, after reading some of the other posts I am wondering about some other symptoms I've been having, about 4 months after being on Lybrel I started having horrible insomnia, which I've never had before & have been feeling constantly drained & have not had anything else change recently in my life.Read More Read Less

I absolutely LOVE this pill! I cannot stand to have periods and I do not ever plan on having children; thusly this drug is a miracle! My only complaint is slight spotting occurring a few times per year and the past few times I've had intercourse there has been blood present (embarassing!). Otherwise, I could take this birth control until I hit menopause!

I have been using this for 4 months. The first month, I stopped taking it after 2 weeks, due to an odd vision problem I believe to have been caused by the drug. I didn't take it for about 2 months, then gave it another try. For 2 months I had nothing. No spotting or period. In my 3rd month, halfway through, I began spotting, and now I have a full blow period. I started taking this because after 28 years, I figured I'd done my time. I just wanted a break from the monthly misery and mess. At this point, I'm not taking this pill anymore. It hasn't done what it states it does, which is keep the period away. Read More Read Less

I was so excited when my Dr. prescribed me with Lybrel. She told me I would only have 1 period a year. Little did I know, it would be one period all year round. I was on it for 4 months and after the first month I had continuous spotting every day. I am very unhappy with it and I do not recommend it to anyone.

After a previous positive review, I am updating to say that I am stopping this drug immediately. I had no problems at all for the first 5 months on Lybrel, but then the problems started! I take the pill within 30 minutes of the same time every day, and never missed a pill. Early in May, I started having light spotting. A few weeks later I was about to walk into a presentation and I suddenly felt a rush of blood. Since then, I've had two instances of major bleeding and nonstop bleeding in between. I tried to tough it out, but my husband and I are both over it!Read More Read Less

I have been on Lybrel for over a year now and have had only problems with it. I may not be pregnant, but I still have my periods and they get worse every month. I've been on it for a month straight now and the cramps and bleeding is worse now than it ever has been. I dont suggest using it.
