Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I'm taking this drug for inattentive ADHD and binge eating disorder. I used to need several tabs open at a time and tv on and a game going to feel some form of ease and entertainment. Now I can easily focus on one thing at a time and be satisfied and efficient. I also got to 270 lbs with a very severe binge eating disorder; constantly thinking about food and constantly needing to put something in my mouth to feel happy. My doctor said this drug may only help a little and "be a small push in the right direction. Let me tell you, the difference is night and day. I now have to FORCE myself to eat and barely ever finish my meal no matter how small. I am in love with this brand and it is the perfect fit for me. Read More Read Less

Vyvanse is amazing. I've been on it since 2010 (I actually have ADHD w/o hyperactivity - you know, the spaced out version). It's been a miracle. I take 70mg in the morning (and used to also take 30mg in the afternoon). But it works wonders. I can get through school and work and whatever. Also, I have no physical side effects (racing heart, sweating, dizziness) that I had when I was on 60mg Adderall XR.

This medication was given to my daughter for ADHD, after Focalin lost its luster. This medication has done wonders for my daughter. She can focus better, does better in school, and sleeps better at night as well.

My 16 year old son took Vyvance for 5 days. He was already highly anxious and stressed. He ended up in hospital for 10 weeks with a one year recovery period. I have resigned from my job to be his carer. He is getting better every day but is vulnerable and not the same boy.

After decades of inability to focus, and making excuses to stop and start meetings at work because I had to get up and move around, I was happy when I first tried Vyvanse. I have been on 25 meds for both depression and ad-hd and not one combo worked. The closest thing to working was Adderall , and I felt like a crack addict when it wore off-up-down, up-down. The Vyvanse is distributed in a way that it makes me feel even all day, no roller coasters. I will warn anyone with prior addictions to any substance, make sure you are ready to take only as prescribed or have a spouse to help, because the temptation to take more will pop up.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Vyvanse for my ADHD about 3 years ago. It helped immediately after taking the first pill, it usually hits me about an hour later. I can stay focused and my mind doesn't race with so much anymore. Make sure you take it in the morning because it sticks around for 12 hours making it impossible to sleep on the days I've taken it late. It's better than other ADHD meds when it's leaving your system because it dissipates slowly so there's not a great big drop off followed by a plateau. It definitely has helped me and like some other posters here I also don't take it everyday, just on the days where I have a lot of work to do and it really does help. I've never experienced any withdrawal symptoms and think it actually helps to use as needed versus everyday. I think not over using has kept my dosage the same for the past 3 years and it's still just as effective as it was when I first started taking it. It's probably a good thing to take as needed just to give your body a break once in a while since it is an amphetamine and I'd have to believe it's not very good for your heart etc. I've been on 50mg for the whole 3 yrs and never had to increase. It's nice because if I do forget to take it in the morning you can dilute it in 4oz of water and it takes it from 50mg to 40mg when you drink what you emptied from the capsule. Worth knowing if you're an ADD scatterbrain like me and terrible with taking meds on time:) Read More Read Less

I have ADD & Narcolepsy. I've taken Ritalin and Aderall in the past. Aderall made me very shaky and has a 'cracked out" feeling. Ritalin barely made a difference. Vyvanse is perfect! I take 40mg a day for over a year now. I usually only take it Mon - Fri so I can focus more during the work week and be "drug free" (mostly) on the weekends. I have GAD and Depression also and I feel it really helps with the anxiety as well. Therefore I don't have to take as much Clonazapam!

I have been taking this drug for several years now and it helps me focus my ADHD. I do only take it during work days and not on the weekends. usually Saturday it's still in my system and am able to still get the effects but on Sundays I get a little lethargic. I am happy with it over all.

I am 18 and completely satisfied with this drug. So far, I have been taking it for nearly 6 months, and it has changed a lot. It helps me focus in order to get my work done as well as my thinking process and my speech. I used to stutter pretty badly, or trail off mid sentence and lose my thought. W/ Vyvanse, I speak much more fluidly and my i don't lose my thought mid sentence. I also had an incredibly hard time translating thoughts into words, my mind would just start racing and i couldn't concentrate in order to get my thoughts into words. The same thing occurred with math. Numbers would run through my head and i would somehow end up with the correct answer, although i would not know how i got it. the only "problem" is how it suppresses appetite. I have to eat BEFORE i take it or else i have to force what i eat down. Lately it has made me very hungry at night. If i do not eat something nutritional before i go skateboarding, (cereal or chips don't cut it, but oatmeal has been very great to me) at the beginning of the "session" i feel like i am going to throw up. it passes after i drink a bit of water but that is it. The effect does mellow out around mid afternoon but not drastically. just enough to notice and i do get a little hyper and outbursty.Read More Read Less

Hasn't helped me. Just the side effects work. To anyone that is trying this med, go for it. But if you're switching to 2 doses, be warned that the nausea will be overwhelming for about an hour.

I have been taking this medication for about 3 months and have had my dosage gradually increased from 30 mg to 60 mg. I have only been on the 60 mg for about 2 weeks but I am gradually seeing a decrease in my binge eating. At times I will start, but then for some reason part way through my eating I decide I have had enough. I have not had any side effects.

Works great for me so far! I feel more focused during the day and feel more at ease talking (not getting jumbled up in my thoughts) I feel in control of my life and I can get things done. It's definitely not a miracle pill and I still catch myself daydreaming every so often. But, before Vyvanse, I couldn't control the daydreaming. I just kept slipping back into la-la land. Now I notice I'm doing it and stop it so I can pay attention. It's a pill that I definitely need to take earlier in the day (around 6:30AM-7AM) otherwise I won't be able to sleep at night. It usually kicks in after 2 hours of taking it. That's when I feel I'm the most focused. I've noticed after taking it for a while it wears off mid-day. Usually around 2-3PM. I'm not completely scatter brained, but I don't feel quite as "on" as I did in the start of the day. I've also experienced the loss in appetite. Sometimes coworkers need to remind me to eat lunch because I just never got hungry for it. So far it's not an issue, but I have noticed weight loss already after only a few weeks. I also notice sometimes I'm focusing my attention on the wrong things. Like obsessive nail biting/picking. It was a big issue to start, now it's faded a bit. It also depends what I'm doing during the day. If I'm really busy it's not an issue. But if i'm just sitting around at home I'll notice my finger nails are bit down to stubs and bleeding. Overall, I would recommend this medication. It has worked very well for me so far. I feel like I can be who I really am without getting distracted by unimportant things. Read More Read Less

i like this drug because it has helped me to focus. Clear and simple, focus is something I couldn't do before and ime 70 years old now. Ive tried a few other drugs, but this one is better for me because I like to get off of it for a few days and back on. and there seems to be no withdrawal. I don't like the idea of taking a drug for the rest of my life. so eventually I'll get off of it when I no longer want to play bridge , work cross word puzzles. Read More Read Less

My husband takes this He has terrible mood swings and is abusive. The "psychiatrist" that prescribes it is similar to those that write for diet drugs requiring you to pay for an office visit in order for you to get your 1 month prescription , it is speed. Plain and simple Beware it will turn your loved one into a monster unrecognizable to you

I used this drug when I was younger. it worked miracles with me but it had some strong side effects. I was fatigue all the time and I threw up all the time. I lost a lot of weight and became very sick. I was on it for approximately 2 years. it worked wonders, you could see a difference. when I was then taken off of it I became a normal kid, again? well I didn't have as of a serve case of ADHD. I have now gained the weight I lost off and the muscle i gained back. it worked miracles but defiantly put me at risk.Read More Read Less
