Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

It has been a huge help overall in my daily life. There are days though that it appears to have no effect all so I'm confused about that.

My son has been on 5 different medications since he was 5 yrs old, he is now 9. We recently switched from Focolin XR 10 mg with a noon 5mg booster and I much prefer Vyvanse. he is much more stable and is able to concentrate throughout the whole day and get even his homework done. He also takes Strattera at dinner time for his aggressiveness and to help with sleep. I am so glad my Dr recommended Vyvanse. Now I just wish my insurance would cover it!

I have an 11 year old son with ADHD. After reading the other reviews, I am wondering if he is the only one with negative side effects. Mood swings, aggressiveness, loss of appetite, sleeplessness it goes on and on. He is taking the lowest dose of 30mg. When it is working correctly it is great, but 10 minutes later he is angry and aggressive towards me and his siblings. He is doing much better in school so what should I do? Keep him on it for the sake of school? It is really getting hard to manage him. Read More Read Less

I just got diagnosed with ADD. I knew something was wrong with me for a long time every since I was little because I always lost concentration in classes and was a big time procrastinator. I have been on the Vyvanse for 1 week now and I can feel the difference. I am able to work on my 30 page paper that is due soon without having to keep getting up and doing something else. I feel more relaxed and I feel like I can do anything (I even want to clean). My family has noticed that I am little more quiet but that is good, because I am always clowing around. initial dose had to be upped. So monitoring may be needed if child isn't responding at first. Medication works GREAT now. No headaches, sleeping is getting better. We love it!

Unacceptable side effects in 8-year-old girl. Loss of weight 3 lbs, weighed only 45 when beginning. She had almost no appetite, she makes herself eat what little she can. She has difficulty sleeping and a higher heart rate.

I'm an 18 high school student; who just recently started taking Vyvanse at 30mg. Unfortunately, at first I started out with the normal dosage of once per day. Then I realized if one pill helped me focus noticeably more; what would happen if I just increased the dosage by 1 for a day. Plus the fact I was in major stress that day; since I had many things to make up and test to makeup as well. So I did and found it VERY effective BUT I noticed it made me a lot more jittery. I'm also thinking it might get me dependent on it; which frankly I wouldn't want. I enjoy the feeling of being able to focus and the fact it keeps me awake and focused, but I'm not sure if I should keep the dosage of 2 pills a day rather than 1. I thought about it logically and I figured since the strongest pill is 70mg; if I doubled mine (30mg) it would basically be the same thing; only with the ability to focus more. I know I should consult my doctor before I do something like this, but it was out of the spur of the moment. I KNOW I work better with 2 a day rather than 1. Should I discontinue this habit and go back to 1 or keep it as I'm taking it now 2 a day?------Feedback would be great. I'm a little worried I might have missed something between my logic and almost paranoia.Read More Read Less

My 8 yr old son has been trying diff meds since her was 4 yrs old. Seemed like everytime we had to change drs. they changed his meds. Finally, his current dr. gave him vyvanse 1 1/2 months ago, and we have seen a wonderful change in him. The only problem we are having is his moodiness in the evening when the vyvanse has worn off and before his triazadone kicks so he can go to sleep.

I don't even have any side effects from this med and I have become more organized with my thought process. Less hyperactive and more goal oriented.

Vyvanse works quickly for me and works all day long. I am able to sleep well even though it lasts 12 hours + and am also able to nap on it. I had some irritability the first week but it went away after a few days, I also had decreased appetite for the first few weeks but that also has decreased. I don't feel medicated like I did with AXR, I felt like AXR had more of a euphoric effect and I could feel it coming on and wearing off, with Vyvanse it is more smooth.

I have been on a few other adhd treatments (adderall, concerta, daytrana) before trying Vyvanse and this is by far the best medication I have tried for my ADHD. It keeps my symptoms in check for a full 12 hours with none of the side effects I felt on the other medications.

I am 16, recently diagnosed with ADD. Vyvanse was the first medication I was prescribed, and I did not experiece much difference in concentration. My doctor prescribed it becuase it was the "latest and greatest" with the fewest side effects, but for me it was not successful. I stared on 30mg and upped the dosage, but it was still the same. I used to sleep very well at night, and it has made it harder for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. Without sleep, it makes it even harder to focs in school and deal with ADD.Read More Read Less

My doctor stated vyvanse cannot be snorted or injected: also enzymes in the stomach breaks the drug down. anyone currently abusing their ADD/ADHD meds might rethink life and ask their doctor about vyvanse. I started today[50mg] and can tell you multiple doses are not as addictive as say aderall/adderallxr. i thank shire for a "real" chance to take vyvanse as prescribed, for 250mg feels about the same as 50mg. i feel the drug is safe even for a recovering addict. though tonight will be long the remaining 25 pills remain to be taken as prescribed. i will be smarter. i shall say too that self medicating by way of the street or previously prescribed pills can and will end in jail, institutions, or death. My only concern is that it seems to wear off to early in the day, I have a 10 year old that I need to be able to help with homework, and at the same time cook take of probably the most hectic part of my day when I need to be able to focus and concentrate in order to multitask. I was started at 70mg, and was on adderal before being switched to this one. But all in all, when it working it works!
