Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

After two years of treating my ADHD with Adderall XR with rather good results I choose to try Vyvanse. The overall results have been extremely positive. The time that medication is working has improved to include the evening without need for any additional doses. The "feel" of the medication is almost nothing...no drop off at the end of the day and seems to be much smoother in response. Adderall XR was good, however Vyvanse is an improvement.

27 y/o, 1st medication for ADHD, 30mg 1/day. 1st week - would last 5hrs, by 6th hour would be exhausted(my days last 16 hrs between school/work). Had to adjust when to take it. 2nd week - massive crash in middle of big homework assignment, after 2hrs of feeling terrible took a 2nd pill that kicked in and worked well for about 2hrs. Next two days taking 1 pill did nothing. From that point on would either skip taking it or take 2 in a 2hour period which would start to work 60-90min after 2nd pill. Would only help concentration for about 1.5hrs, after that the 'come-down' feeling was tiring and obvious. It was a pain trying to figure out when to take it and how much to take, it was a constant issue. It was also bad b/c if I wanted to do homework, I wouldn't take any during the day so it was ineffective at helping me at work and then i would never know if it was going to work. Side effects: TMJ acted up majorly, my jaw would hurt for hours. Occasional nightmares in the beginning, weird daydreams. Helped control my overactive appetite, learned to determine when I am full (the only good thing) One night of insomnia - didn't sleep at all. Comedown was tiring, would feel anxious and paranoid. When it worked it was obvious that it was good, but for how short it lasted it was not worth the trouble I had with it. Not for everyone I guess....Read More Read Less

My 9 year old son is on this drug. At first it seemed to work well, but now he is so angry and sad and he keeps sniffling. i have never seen him so angry. The doctor told me to increase the Ridperdal which he also takes. That hasn't helped we need to try something else!

I am a 57 year old woman. I have taken 5 other drugs to date for my ADD. On adderall I was excessivley chattering, taking a higher dosage only made me less able to articulate, and I bit my tongue, still I talked. I, also, take 10 mg. of Lexapro. I have taken, Adderall, Focalin, Concerta, and Ritalin, LA. Upon taking the Adderall, Focalin, and Concerta I felt like they were working but not a great overall impression on any of them. They each seemed to help me focus better at the beginning. Although with adderall, I had noticed tongue biting and slurring of words with higher dosages. Only later to find that they all seemed to level off in my successes, and bring me back to various side effects and although with sides effects that brought me to moderate to severe suicical feelings. It has been on again off again, still anything was better than dealing with ADD. I also had trouble sleeping at night with all of them. Also, innitially, I was falling asleep in A.M. after taking 3 out of the total 5 . Then I was given a free sample of Vyvanse. I immediatetly noticed a difference in my moods, and my inniciative. I became more interested, even in other things that I had not been able to focus on or want to focus on in years. I had been on Vvanse for 2 mths. Then I was told, that the medical coverage I have did not cover it. The insur. co, said I had to try a 5th med. The next one, Ritalin LA, I notice more irritable, and aggressive. I didn't want to talk at all, where as usually I would enjoy being with and talking to my grandchildren, now i was saying things like "please be quiet I am trying to focus on watching television. I, also noticed that I had a rash on the upper part of my arms, headaches, dizzyness, over eating and binging eating at night when the Ritalin LA wore off. I noticed with Vyvanse, that I do not binge eat, maybe its because sweet things seem too sweet to me now. No great weight loss, minimal, no prob. for me to loose some weight. Read More Read Less

I swithched from Adderall to Vyvanse due to increased blood pressure which may have been attributed to the Adderall. I started on 30mg and did not feel much different. After increasing my dose to 70mg my ADD symptons improved and my focus was steady. However, it has now been about 2 months since I began my increased dose and did not realize until my marriage of two years was on the line due to my abnormal behavior and lack of emotion/conscience. I am normally a very caring and sensitive person. In retrospect I realize that my sex drive had increased (not necessarily a bad thing) but I became despondent to my husband and infatuated with new acquaintances. I became distant, irritable, maliciously unfeeling, utterly cold and now my marriage is falling apart. I cannot wholly blame these occurances on the Vyvanse but I do know that my character has changed and definitely not for the better. All in all, my emotional state is not worth being able to focus on a task at work or organize files. Hopefully others will be helped by Vyvanse but I plan on telling my doctor to put me back on Adderall.Read More Read Less

I am a 24 year old college student who was diagnosed at 17 with ADD/ADHD. I was stubborn for years with the "mind of matter" mess, because I had no REAL problems in high school, but... finally turned to help this January while struggling in 250+ student classrooms in my university. Vyvanse just might have saved my education, and my career.

I am an adult who has suffered for as long as I can remember with focus problems. I recently started taking this medication after all three of my children were placed on this medication for ADHD. I saw how well it worked for them and so my doctor prescribed it for me as well. I had tried other medications for this problem in the past but nothing worked for me as well as Vyvanse. I feel like I have a new look on life, I'm able to finish tasks that I had trouble finishing in the past. I can pay bills on time and stay organized. I don't think people who don't have trouble with this quite understand how difficult some of the simpliest tasks are for those of us who have ADHD. I have been very satisfied with Vyvanse, I don't have any jitters, trouble sleeping at night, or any other side effects. My children have a little bit of an appetite supression at first, but only lasts a few weeks. I didn't even have that. I'm really greatful for finding a medication that works this good. This is the best ADHD medication there is. The only reason for the 3 stars on satisfaction is the insurance company refused to cover the medication and is trying to force me and my doctor to use medications that had much harsher effects on me. The insurance company's pharmacist I spoke with did not even know what a pro-drug is and just said it was the same as all the others with an added ingredient. In the meantime, I have uncontrolled ADHD due to my insurance company refusal to cover this medication.Read More Read Less

So far, I have been taking this for two weeks. I noticed that it has really stopped the usual urge to finish someone's sentences. When you start this medication, DO NOT DRINK CAFFEINE! Due to habit, I drank a cup of coffee and now I want to jump out of my skin! I used to drink about 4 cups a day, plus a few coke zero's. Trust me, you don't need caffeine anymore! The only side effect I have really had is an upset stomach. I am not as hungry which is a good thing!

My 5 year old son was put one this 5 days ago. It worked great, no problems giving dose, and my sons behavior was such a change. We did have problems with sleep and in the evening he wanted to eat everything he didn't eat all day but we did dealt with it. On day 3 he had mild itching, but on day 4 he had severe itching and welts over his legs, arms, and stomach. We will have to try something different.

I took Vyvanse only when I had a major test or knew I had to concentrate that day in school because this drug would wipe me out. My personality would vanish, I couldn't find anything funny, I was constantly searching for something to concentrate on, I'd clinch my teeth and suck on the roof of my mouth and cheeks until they were raw, and it'd be near impossible to sleep. I did ace all of the tests, though, which I couldn't do before I was on the medicine.

It's been 4 days that I've been taking Vyvanse. I have switched from 36mg of concerta twice a day for the past 8 months and I exprienced an on and off effect with the concerta, but a smooth, less irritable, less chatty(I use to repeat the same thing over and over again)However, I pray and hope and beg-PLEASE LET VYVANSE BE THE RIGHT DRUG FOR ME! For I have a severe case of ADHD. In the past I've tried every ADD/ADHD Medicine out there and using this drug for 4 days, others around me as well as myself have seen an improvement.Read More Read Less
