Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

completely changed my life for the better. actually excited to get up in the morning and start my day. side effects are not bad, but include dry mouth, loss of appetite, and running to the bathroom. has anybody else experienced frequent bowel movements while on this drug?

My 6 year old son has just been put on Vyvanse for severe ADHD. We tried the liquid vitamins for a while but we had no other option but to try this. It has been amazing, the results are unbelievable. The teacher is totally amazed at the changes in him. He is getting wonderful reports and has compelted all his work everyday. I read that the side effects can be the lack of sleep. Not the case with him not only does he sleep 11 hours a night he is taking naps at school for the first time. I put the medicine on a spoon full of ice cream every morning and he takes it with ease. People that do not know that we have been treating him have said things to us on how well he is doing. So far it is great and the best decision we could have made for our son. My only regret was that he has gone this long without the help.Read More Read Less

I am 44 years old raising two children. I now have been on vyvanse for five months. I have not lost or gained weight. I am much happier with myself because I seem to have a clearer vision of things. I make sense now, when I chose to do something. People have noticed also. Many say I seem more calm and less dependent. I am. Hopefully it'll stay that way. Good luck to all who try Vyvanse. If you are a good candidate to try it, you won't need any luck. Happier trails to you.

My 9 yr old son started taking Vyvanse April of last year, and overall it has been a huge difference from Concerta and Metadate, the only problems we've seen consistantly is trouble sleeping (which his Dr told us to have him take 1mg of melatonin, that helped tremendously!) and he has had 3 major rage episodes where he blacked out and doesnt remember what he did, it also wears off before he finishes homework, but if I give it to him later in the morning he has a harder time falling asleep.

I'm 37 yo, mom of 2, prev took Concerta for my adult ADHD for 8 yrs. During the last yr, it lost effectives (just happens!) and Doc switched me to Vyvanse. From 1st dose to the 2nd wk check-up I buzzed around like a bee and it seemed 2 help w/my attention & concentration but not w/my memory or execucution of tasks...and became an insomniac which sure, my house became spotless, but I became a nervous wreck. Doc then put me on Adderall XR, which I stayed on b/c it worked "OK" not as good as the Concerta in its prime for me, but hey, at least I was able to sleep & be fairly productive. 2nd check up Doc said give it more time to let it really set in & see its abilities. My energy & sleep levels balanced but still had trouble remembering to do things, or worse, be right in the middle of a task like doing laundry & forget to actually start machine before moving on to something new. I was sick of making lists of reminders but then forget to look at them! I was on multi-task overload. This can't go on. Should I go back to my old pal Concerta, were thoses the golden years? Try Vyvanse again, Doc says. Um-OK. Well, it's been 'bout 2-3 wks. I'm feeling pretty good & getting in control of my ADHD but I realize its because I've been conscientiously working harder on it too, as no medicine is a "miracle drug." The Vyvanse has given me renewed energy. Its increased my focus and organizational skills. It's definately boosted my thought process. I've noticed a slight improvement in my short term memory which IS BIG! However, just yesterday, I forgot the one thing I REALLY needed at the grocery store. That's why I realize I must continually push myself too, only by doing this will the medication reaches it optimal performance level during the coming weeks. We all know that ADHD is a nuisance and aggravates us(and our families!)to no end, but don't give up! Find the right med to match your body & you'll get a grip on ADHD and feel fab again too. Hang in there!Read More Read Less

This drug has saved my life and that of my kids. I finally realize that I have been battling depression/anxiety for years with other meds when it was ADHD. I feel calm and at peace for the first time. I have to take a second dose in order to make it through dinner and homework. My outlook is so much happier and am much more at ease with the order of the house. I see my adult siblings and realize we must have drove my poor mom crazy. Thank godness 2 out of the four now take Vyvanse

Well I have not used this medication for a long period of time, though i believe this drug is the miracle drug. And that is 100% serious. I have dyslexia, short-term memory loss which resulted in ADHD. My life before this drug was that i could not remember anything, nothing! My school grades have suffered tremendously. I was not organized at all. And i would push off doing homework and studying becuase i didnt feel like doing it. If i did do it, i would take hours just because i didn't work on it all at once. I got completely distracted. The first morning I took this drug was on the day of my first exam. Usually i dont remember my car ride to school ( takes 30 mins to get there) this time however, i could remember it all, even 2 weeks after. It has cured my memory loss. Second, when homework or studying was required, I would do it, and only that. I wanted to do it. plus I understood it and remembered it. I never got off task and if i did i would come right back and focus again. After taking my first dosage of 60mg, It was amazing. I did all my work, studied, paid attention, and felt good! Good sideffects: Focus, remembeing, paying attention, feeling happy, WANTing to work, WANTing to study. Makes you want to do good and finish things. Bad Side effects: Appetite? I felt hungry, but i didnt want to eat. But If you program yourself and tell yourself its the drug than you'll do fine, JUST EAT! Sorta dry mouth but thats not major. I talk to myself alot more... Look All the bad side effects can easily be overcame if you decide to overcome them. Do I sleep? Yeah! Yeah i still felt the drug than, but I listened to chill music, made myself relax and fell asleep great! I believe this is truly a miracle drug. It will make my grades seem like a miracle also :) Try it! It will help you. Although people have different reactions It wont hurt to try it. Only if you need it.Who wouldnt want a drug that makes you:happy, sociable, focused,on task, and determined to finish thingRead More Read Less

My 11 yr old grandson has been taking this medicatin for about a year. Although it seemed to help him stay focused in school, he walked around like a zombie and showed no emotion. Yesterday he broke down in tears and said that he was having suicide thoughts, that he just wanted to die. He is not lacking for anything. He excels in school and sports, has friends, has a loving family. He said all this himself. He does not like feeling the way he does and is scared to death. The doctor stopped all his medication and has referred us to a physcologist. We will see what he finds and recommends.Read More Read Less

My 12 year old daughter began taking 30 mgs of this medication and did pretty good. Later we upped the dosage to 50 mg. She began breathing heavy and didn't stop until she fell asleep. She slept fine, because I was checking her breathing throughout the night, however, it was very uncomfortable for her during the hours she was awake. What I loved is that my child was finally able to organize in school and at home. She was focused and paid attention to detail. The affects of the medicine took effect right away and would actually help around the house in the morning and the afternoon. Her grades improved dramatically and she was the same sweet child, just not annoying at all!!!! It just wasn't worth the side affect she was dealing with.Read More Read Less

I was on Lexapro 15mg and Budeprion XL 300 mg. The Budeprion was supposed to combat the sluggishness I felt from the Lexapro; the Lexapro was for my general anxiety/depression. Even with the Budeprion I felt sluggish - forgetful, absentminded, and this just added to depression. My doctor prescribed Vyvanse and I was amazed at how I was able to get through the day and get things done... not wanting to take a nap every day after work... we decided I could go off the Budeprion after a while, and after about a month off of it, I think maybe that was a mistake. I don't feel the effects of my 1st Vyvanse dose - only the afternoon dose. And I'm really really hypersensitive. Not sure if I've narrowed down the reason for this - will see the doctor next week...Read More Read Less

I am taking Vyvanse 50mg for Adult Attention Deficit Disorder - but I am the opposite of hyperactive - sluggish feeling with feelings of dread. There are pros and cons to taking Vyvanse, but I feel the benefits outweigh cons. Pros: I actually look forward to taking the med in the morning because when the med kicks in, I am alert and I can think! I don't dread the day but look forward to it. Although my mind will still wander from time to time, I manage to reign it back in and get back on task. I can sit in meetings. I don't feel like taking a nap all the time. It wears off by the evening and I sleep pretty good. Cons: It is an appetite suppresent and I am hypoglycemic. I have to remember to eat regular even though I may not feel like it. I discovered the hard way by having a near fainting episode - it was a particularly busy day and I just didn't notice till then. I do fine as long as I eat like I should. An annoyance is that I catch myself gritting my teeth sometimes which I just make a point to chew gum at those times. The final con is that I was hoping this would automatically fix my difficulty in reading books. Since I can think and focus better, I thought I would take to books quicker, but I still have to read some things twice to get it to sink in. Although I make A's in my studies, study time is quite time consuming for me. To sum it up, I had hoped that Vyvanse would cure all my ADD symptoms but since it has made a positive difference in my day I am satisfied with the med. Read More Read Less
