Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My 7 year old step daughter was prescribed this medication and shortly after starting, she developed muscle spazems. The doctor advised to stop giving the medication ... for 2 days, when the muscle spazms didn't go away he instructed us to put her back on the meds. The muscle spazms have since gotten worse. Her whole head jerks forward, backward, or to the side depending on how she is sitting or standing. Though the info on the side effects of the med say that this is a serious side effect, this doctor at least doesn't seem to think so. Be aware, be sure to notice everything because these muscle spazms are getting to the point that I am worried for her safety while she is asleep. Being the "step-mother" I have no say in taking her off of the med, but for other parents, be very careful with this one. Read More Read Less

Vyvanse seems to work just as long (12 hours)then the Ritalin did, but with the Ritalin I would sometimes get the jitters, not bad, just a little. This only happened once in a while and would last about 15 minutes. With Vyvanse this never happens.

Ihave four children who have taken just about every drug for adhd, when we changed to vyvanse it was like a miracle drug for all of them. they have clariety at school, they have no trouble with thier appitite, their behavior has been greatly improved, they ate 15,13,12 and 7. We changed the oldest first and she was greatly helped-she got her personelality back, she laughs and sings again, no more depression, to us it was a miracle--so we have gradually changed the others and are very, very, verypleased and so are their teachers--study habits and homework has improved.Read More Read Less

All of my life I have had to make lists of everything to keep on track, to the point that without it I feel lost. I am 34 y/o now and a full-time college student. As a Marine Biology major, the classes are not getting any easier, and my inability to focus has become a severe issue. I am failing classes that I shouldn't be, so I asked my Dr. what is wrong with me. I felt so stupid when I know I am not. I have been on 60mg Cymbalta for depression, but never anything for ADHD, in fact I have just now been diagnosed even though I have suffered with it my whole life. Its no wonder we have depression and anxiety with ADHD to deal with. Anyway, I have been on this medicine for 5 days now. I have insomnia, dry mouth, loose stools. The first day I thought I would never shut up...felt like I talked non-stop for hours. I seem to be adjusting a little more each day, and my focus is improving. There is no decrease of appetite for me. I feel much more calm, when before I could hardly sit still. I will write another review after some more time has passed.Read More Read Less

I am 14 and i take a 60mg pill of this. For all you parents worried about your kids i got advice. This is what happens to me i am very focused in school and stuff like that. I am usually quiet and barly or don't eat at all. I have gone 2 or 3 days without eating, that is one of the bad things about this medication. The other bad thign is that when your child was off the pill for 2 or 3 days and then gets back on it just leave them alone for the day because idk if it is anyone else besides me but i am very tired and emotional and dont want to be messed with. I hope i have helped out some parents out there. Read More Read Less

My daughter is 6 and today was her first day on 20mg oral of vivance this is also the first med we have tried to treat ADHD. My bigest complaint is that she was a bit of a zombie all day. We decided to try it on a Sat so I could monitor her first day. She has only ate 3 potato chips in the last 14 hours and that is not like her at all. I have read alot of the reviews here and I am going to continue it for a few more days I just hope that the zombie goes away, I missed my baby today.

i am an adult with adhd and this is the first medicine for the condition i have been given (50mg). i am pretty satisfied, although i have no other medication to compare it to. i am also bi-polar and was taken off prozac with no major depression episodes yet. it's been about 6 months and so far so good. i would recommend someone with adhd to at least try it.

Started w/ 30mg but had same side effects as I did with adderal. From my exp alot of side effects means wrong dose so I took it upon myself to take two 30 mg pills. LOVED IT! I was in control & didn't notice it was working until I started doing something. Told my doc so he prescribed 50mg, feeling side effects again distracted by unusual thinking, trouble sleeping, leg numbness & calf pain (which is really scaring me and has me wanting to stop medication), feeling like I have to be focused on something. Not sure if I can get a script for 60mg but do far that's given me best results.Probably wouldn't need a pill if I could go back to "clean eating" and 6 meals a day but that's sooo high maintenance. :-( PS : vyvanse is big improvement compared to adderal , life changing, if you have the correct dose. My 15 year old has been on this for 5 months. He has lost weight initially but has balanced out and is the best shape of his life. He feels more in control and focused. Only issue when he exercises he itches all over. He needs exercise and this is a huge problem.

my son has been taking this for 6 months. At first it worked really well. Not so much now. He's having problems in school. He took Concerta first but lost 25 pds in 2 months, the Focalin and this didn't work at all for him.
