Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

Been on and off of this med since my freshman year of high school. Certainly helps with focus and I still feel myself when I take it. DO NOT DRINK ON THIS! You will regret it. First starting/ restarting there are some things that'll go away with time. I sweat a lot to start with on Vyvanse I sweat even more. Lasts about 10-12 hours max for me and I take 40mg's. Some days like weekends i'll take a break.

I first began on 30mg and then doctor increased to 40mg and that worked well for about 10 weeks. I began to become, for lack of a better word, immune to it sort of. I now take 60mg in the morning and I have been taking this dose for two day's and I do feel better than I did before, I've got my focus back and can complete any task I try to accomplish; had trouble sleeping though, but looking forward to continuing treatment.

didn't know totally how to feel about this drug at first. prescribed 30 mg, the first couple times I took this drug I was somewhat depressed now I given it another shot and I feel pretty calm collected and focussed. Ritalin was extremely effective for 3 weeks and then stopped working so I have changed to vyvanse. I would recommed this to anyone willing to give it a shot, and remember that everyone is different so this does work and doesn't for others. thanks for reading

was prescribed 20mg for ADD in 2012. After 3 days of taking it i was sent to the hospital for having severe seizures, Panic attacks, dehydration. This drug is dangerous in my opinion. It's simply the prodrug dextroamphetamine. I feel like it's been put on the market simply for money. Thank god for Methylphenidate 20mg (ritalin) It has completely changed my life.

So this is my second week on vyvanse, And i would liketo share this review for anyone who could not find the right answers on how vyvanse exactly makes you feel, however i'am aware that vyvanse reacts differently on everyone. I have been diagnosed with ADD this past year, i have only realized it after failing my school year and getting dismissed. I was unable to focus in my lecture and would get frustrated and unmotivated to get anything done, and this frustration caused me anxiety. After i have done my research and read about ADD and related to the symptoms i decided to get tested and i was diagnosed with ADD this past year. Now to jump to conclusion about the downfalls and the pro's of this drug to see if anyone relates: 1) Less social - Even though i had ADD i was a social person and with this drug i felt so relaxed, some people would think i look upset because my facial muscles are relaxed and i don't laugh as often, i'm much rather more serious than when i was off vyvanse, i always had a smile on my face in public and seemed outgoing. 2) Thinking - On vyvanse i think twice before i act or just generally, "do i look good enough?" "Is my hair in place?" "Should i re-do this?" Taking me back to anxiety and not fully feeling myself or being as slightly carefree as i was before vyvanse. 3) Heart beat- My heartbeat would increase for no reason at all, some moments i'd feel quite comfortable and relaxed and suddenly i would sense anxiety creeping back in and feeling like every one is looking at me or i'am not doing the right thing. Pro's 1) More relaxed - Obviously, i can focus and sit in one possition for hours. I'd hate to say that that's the only Pro that i find in this drug, because all i really needed was to be able to focus, so would i continue taking this drug for a long period of time? Hell no, i would rather feel completely myself again than have to deal with this just because i think there's no other way to reach my goal. Read More Read Less

Im 13 and i was diagnosed when i was 10 at that time i was given Ritalin which made me feel like a completely different person and not in a good way so i changed to dexamfenimine and was on 5 tablets a day it worked but during the time of these medications i had lot 15kg and because i was so forgetful i wouldn't remember all 5 everyday so i was put on vyvanse 50mg an it works well but i dont feel like myself anymore i use to be excited and outgoing and i could spark a convasation with anyone im not like that at all anymore and it worries me.I experience side effects such as high heart rate, muscle ticks, slight changes in vision and i all so find that i am extremely able to focus and comlete tasks at school but i come with alot of physical, emotional and mental exustion.I am now in the process of diciding weather it more important to be emotionally or academicly stable. Overall this is the best medication option i have been given and some of the side effects i have maybe from out side variables but this is just my experience Read More Read Less

Im 15 year old female diagnosed with ADHD; this drug is a holy grail for me. the first few days it curbed my appetite awfully, but after a week or so i was eating normal again. It helps me concentrate on things that need to be done and i actually complete things without it taking forever. i realized that one of my ADHD "ticks" was overeating and this helped. without it i feel like a child hyped on sugar and out of control. this drug is amazing

ADHD Inattentive type This drug has been a life saver for me. I have no jitteriness or any other indication that I am taking it, but I can attend a government meeting and pay attention the whole time. It helps with executive function overall. I have better control of my emotions, and my eating. When I first started taking Vyvanse my Doc prescribed 10mg capsules and said to try various levels to see what was most effective. I ended up at 50, a few years later 60, then 70mg. I have since quit that job and left Washington DC, and I am back down to 50mg. Even though I am not working, I still have a lot to do with kids, an 89 yo father etc. I am able to get things done and stay under control. My doctor also prescribed Adderol for long days with late meetings when I needed a boost, and I would also take it on those rare days I could sleep in. I don't like to take Vyvanse after 10:00 am, I usually take it between 5 and 6 am. I have sleep difficulties even when not on ADD medication, so I take melatonin with the theanine and valerian before bed and have a cup of "sleepy tea" as part of my pre bed routine. In DC I was averaging 3-5 hours of sleep per night, now I am back up to 7-8 hours, even with Vyvanse, so I know Vyvanse wasn't the problem there. I wish this had been around when I was in school, I would have been so much more successful. But they barely knew about ADD then, and it was only for boys. ; ) I am the inattentive type of ADDRead More Read Less

I have been taking ADHD medications for about 10 years and vyvanse is by far my favorite. I take 50mg of vyvanse as needed. I always feel very productive when taking it and It really helps me focus and get things done without the procrastination. Although, it does what it is supposed to do I do have a few side effects that prevent me from taking it everyday. I have a history with anxiety/depression and this medicine brings back some of those symptoms. Also, I tend to be a perfectionist when I take the medicine. I catch myself taking longer to take exams and redoing my makeup or hair or brushing my teeth more than once simply because I feel like it isn't just right. Also I am more isolated and less social when I take the pill and tend to have trouble sleeping. I do enjoy my work more though and dont eat as much when I take it. Many pros and cons.Read More Read Less

I have ADD (no hyperactivity) with sleep episodes during the day. This drug has been a life saver for me. I'm lucky in that I have low blood pressure naturally, so it doesn't cause me any issues there. It does help me stay focused without making me feel jittery or drugged. It really did change my life. I feel like myself again.

I was originally taking Adderall XR, but I wanted something that lasted me through the day. My doctor prescribed me Vyvanse 20MG. After about a month of taking it, I noticed that it wasn't being effective enough. My doctor upped the dosage to 40MG, but when I took that one, I felt dizzy for a few minutes, then through the rest of the day I just felt tired. It didn't help me with my ADD at all. I went back to Adderall but I started taking a second 10MG dose in the afternoon. I feel much better now and I don't want to use Vyvanse again.Read More Read Less

I'm 27-year-old female with ADHD. Ritalin made me irritable so my doctor switched me to Vyvanse. I've started on a low dose to make sure it doesn't affect my mood like Ritalin did. So far so good. It's been a month. At such a low dose -20mg- it's not as effective as I'd like it to be. Side effects for me: clenching jaw, loss of appetite, and dry mouth.

I was diagnosed with ADD and my doctor recommended me to take vyvanse 40mg. The first day I took it around 6:00 am and it started to work about an hour in. I was able to focus very well and was a lot more sociable. However, the good effects of the medicine only lasted for 5 hours and then everything went downhill and I felt depressed. My heart was beating faster than usual, dry mouth, and had no desire for food. The next day thinking it would be better, it didn't kick in until around 2:00pm and only lasted for a few hours. Sometimes it would leave me feeling very antisocial and aggitated. Today is my last day taking it because it hasn't worked for me at all today. Wasn't hungry all day, felt very sweaty, nervous, aggitated, out of breathe. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with BED approximately a month ago. I'm currently taking 50mg of this drug and it has completely taken away my desire to eat all of the time. The first day I didn't walk to the fridge 30 times to see if there was more food I could eat. I accomplished stuff I couldn't bring myself to do normally. Makes me think that I may have an ADHD problem and this is helping it as well. I have lost nearly 20 pounds in about 4 weeks. Not intentionally, just eating a more normal amount of calories each day. I do keep track of my calories and protein to make sure I am getting enough to eat each day to stay healthy. I don't crave sweets. I am generally happier. I will say that on Day 1 of medicine I felt like I was doing everything in fast forward --talking, moving, thinking etc. However, that did wear off pretty quickly. Now I like my new normal of feeling. I have saved money from the amount of food I purchased at the store on a weekly/daily basis. Now, seeing how much I used to eat, I'm a little nervous of ever stopping the medicine. My doctor said I need to be under her care while on this medicine and I am required to see her every 3 months, but that's a small price to pay to get my life back. Yes the dry mouth is pretty crazy. I keep water with me at all times. I don't crave soda anymore and I do feel full faster. My life has completely changed in just under 4 weeks. Read More Read Less

I have been taking 50mg of Vyvance for 9 months. Before Vyvance I was a binge eater for about 20 years and had tried everything with no success. I am about 90% binge free now and feel increased energy as an added benefit. The dry mouth and increased heart rate greatly reduced after about 4-6 months. I have never had any trouble sleeping. If you skip the daily dose, you can really feel the difference; cravings, depression, tiredness. I also think, after 9 months, that the positive effects don't last as long or do not "kick in" as much as they used to. However; I will not go on a larger dose because my body will probably adjust to that as well. For now, I will remain on the 50mg daily dose and take whatever benefits it provides. The benefits still far outweigh how I felt without it.Read More Read Less

I've been on this for just over 2 months now. I instantly noticed that my urge to eat and keep eating stopped. I also don't have cravings any longer. This is great as I was binge eating at nearly every meal. I told my doctor that the switch between my stomach and my brain that said I was full didn't work. Within two days of being on Vyvanse I noticed that for the first time in decades I felt full while eating. I actually have leftovers now. My family and friends are shocked by this - as I am. There are several side effects though - however, imo, they benefits of the drugs effectiveness outweighs those effects. Here is what I've experienced while taking it. Dry Mouth - OMG is it bad. But I've learned to use mouthwash - a lot. Drink lots of water and suck on the Act dry mouth drops or chew gum. All of it helps to counter the dry mouth. Insomnia - I struggled with this before and now it's worse. I have to take my pill no later than 8:30 in the morning or I'm up nearly the entire night. So no more sleeping in on Saturday mornings. I did try to skip taking the pill on Saturdays to allow sleeping in. I binged that entire day and while I knew I was doing it and I shouldn't be, I couldn't stop. Depression once the pill wears out of your system. My doctor knew this effect and I went on an antidepressant prior to starting Vyvanse. The combination of the two limits the amount of depression I feel. Now for the good side effects: increased energy, increased alertness, weight loss and a generally overall happier mood each day. I'm not sure how long term of a solution this pill is but at this point I'd be scared to stop it as I know that the behaviors are still there and I'd revert back to the binging which is not something I ever want to do again.Read More Read Less
