Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My 8yr old daughter has been on Vyvanse for almost 2yrs now on the 50mg, it seems to be working just fine although now we are getting ready to try a higher level (70mg) which I am very nervous about cant stand the fact that I have to give her this stuff. The only side effects that my daughter had the first few weeks of taking Vyvanse loss of appetite and hard time sleeping, but all that is fine now.

People need to be careful in how there problem is diagnosed by a MD. I was given this drug when a doctor thought I was ADHD and what my issue was really...anxiety and stress. This drug along with Xanax caused a huge health probelm for me when I went off it because I was speedy all the time or taken xanax to come down off the Vyvanse. It is a potent drug and people need to be careful with its use and be sure they are taking it for the right reason. It can also cause high blood pressure.

I've always had ADHD, and have been able to cope without medications, although I struggled and battled inside to get myself to concentrate. Once a level of concentration was reached, if it got interrupted, I had to start battling all over. I was like a car that only had a 4th gear, an no clutch - I would struggle to get my "speed" up. Now, with a small daily dose of vyvanse, it's like I have all 4 gears, and can slip easily through the gears, and get to full concentration - with interruptions handled just fine. I'm right back on task when I want to be. I'm extremely grateful for this medication, and wish that it had been available 30 years ago! I would have done so much better in college, in my career, and my family would have seen me less frustrated - which I am now. Thank you.Read More Read Less

After 4 days of use my 6 year old son went from a sometimes aggressive nature at home to an overly agressive personality at school causing the school to call us 3 times about his behavior in 1 day. After reporting this to his doctor his medication was suspended.

My 17 year old daughter has been taking this drug for about 5 months she has been lost about 20 lbs which is ok because she was overweight. And she has gone from a D student to an A-B student and has made honor roll the first time in high school. I wish I had listened to her earlier and had her evaluated. The only problem I find with this drug is she is alot crankier and sometimes hard to be around. Not sure if this is part of the teenage years or the drug.

Both of my boys take this. The younger one started on it when he was 9 and in 4th grade. After 6 months on the drug he went from a 4th grade reading level (grade level for him) to an 8th grade reading level. Also with out the drug he is very combative, emotional and overall dramatic. With Vyvanse he is my sweet boy. I can always tell if he has not taken his pill. He did lose about 15lbs initially - whic was ok because he was a bit chubby. Now he is just normal for his height and age. My 15 yr old started on it this year to help with concentration in school - it helps dramatically. He has not had any weight loss and never had mood swings so haven't seen an improvement there. However he does get along better with his brother when he takes his meds. He does not take them on weekends or school breaks. My younger son takes 50mcg and my older one takes 40mcg.Read More Read Less

My son has been on the vyvanse 50mg for a month. He started having severe panic attacks, and irritability, and severe mood swings with this medication. Seeing my 11 year old having a severe panic attack is the worst thing I have witnessed. I also administer the medication as early as 7am and he still cant go to sleep at night. I would not recomment this medication to anyone.

I've been reading the comments and the majority of them are negitive and just a lot of complaining about this and that headache, moodiness, anger, emotional..people probably already had that to begin with...this medication is great. It keeps me energized, focused, productive, and I feel great on it. My only side effects are dry mouth and shakiness. I know everyone is effected differently but as far as I'm concerned vyvance is great. I recommend it.

My 6 year old son has been on this med, lowest dose for 2 months. It has helped his focus, however, it has caused severe depression and anger in an other wise happy go lucky little man. So much so that I have taken him off of it and asked the Dr. for something else. I just cant stand to see my little guy so sad, I love him too much. I know he needs something, but this med just isn't the right fit for us...I was hoping it would be.

I have been given vyvanse for about 2 months and i have had reoccuring sife effects. I tend to notice that for the weekends I lower my dosage of stop taking it to reduse the side effect on the weekend. I was given this drug to impove my focus in school, but what my focus goes toward is the side effects that I overgo in school. I have noticed that while on this presctiption i have had blurred vision, extreme dry throut, mental/mood/behavioral changes, outburst of words or sounds, change in sexual ability, extreme tiredness, rapid unexplained weight loss, paranoia, nausea, headache, nervousness, dizziness(stopped occuring after 1st month), abundent sweat, and restlessness.Read More Read Less

I am taking Respiridol and depakote for bipolar. I crave marijuana because it calms my brain, and I cannot smoke it because it is illegal and causes havoc in my life. My Dr. put me on Vyvanse to stop the cravings of marijuana and it worked for the first day or two. Today is my fourth day on 50 - 100 mg of Vyvanse and I feel very sad. I also am having angry outbursts. Ativan helps calm me down. I really want Vyvanse to work and this sadness makes it real hard. I am going to ask my Dr. for an anti-depressant. Please post back if you read this and have any ideas for me. I am wanting to get on with my life. Thank you very much for any input you can give me.Read More Read Less

I started taking Vyvanse in January after I noticed that the Adderol XR I was taking made me severely depressed. I have been taking it for about 5 months now and I will never go back to Adderoll. Vyvanse is amazing for me. It doesn't change my personality like Adderoll did, and I was able to concentrate in class. I went from failing grades to A's, B's and C's. I was my regular self and I could also concentrate. It may sound like a joke but its not, this drug makes me feel like a normal person without ADHD. Its amazing. I also take anti-depressants which I believe remove the mood swings many people experience on this drug. I recommend this to anyone who believes they can not stand Adderoll like me.Read More Read Less

This is my 3rd time on this drug. ive had to stop do to it being so costly. the first time was amazing, no side effects at all and it managed my adhd perfectly, ive noticed though each time i stopped and restarted vyvanse the side effects have become worse, the dry mouth has caused me to chew my lips and cheeks so i have sores on them, and the abdominal pain is killer. ive also had really bad jaw and muscle pain, is this normal or a dangerous side effect? but it all equalls to the fact that i feel free of cell my mind always seemed to be in when im not taking it and not feeling like a zombie or crashing on every other adhd med ive taken. I have been diagnosed with adult ADD. I have only been on this for a few weeks and take 40 mg once a day. I am not sure if I like it or not. I can focus on things now, but my husband says I am very combative and seem agitated all the time. The medication is the only thing different. I have 2 children that have also been diagnosed with ADHD. They take a different medication. My husband said they are the same way. agitated and stuff. Maybe it is a side effect of all ADD / ADHD meds. I would rather struggle with my attention span than loose my marriage. Read More Read Less
