Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

Nine months ago during my annual checkup, I asked my doctor to prescribe me something to curb my appetitie. I felt my weight was out of control and although I exercised, I wasn't losing weight. I also explained to him that it was difficult for me to concentrate on big projects at work. He suggested Vyvanse and within days I noticed a difference. It made me feel like I could conquer the world. My thinking is off the chart when I take my 70 mg dose in the morning. Also, my creativity level soars and I talk, talk, talk. I've lost about 25 pounds which is very noticeable. I couldn't take the med every day because you are totally "wired." But in the last couple months, when I started taking it daily (not on weekends for some reason--I just like to chill then), that's when I lost the pounds. You will be thirsty, dry mouth, and pumped up to accomplish great things--but you have to take it in the morning or you will be up ALL night---like now it's 4:00 a.m. in the morn, and I'm stillup. I've tried every weight loss med on the market--Vyvanse, while it may not serve primarily for weight loss, is VERY effective in helping one lose weight. And although my doc said it was expensive--with my United Healthcare insurance, monthly RX are only $25.Read More Read Less

I have spent my whole life thinking that I am an unmotivated, lazy, irresponsible person. While I made great grades throughout school, did well in college and maintain a successful teaching career, the stress of never getting things done on time, disappointing my co-workers due to my forgetfulness and my impulsivity (which led to a binge eating disorder) had taken over my adult life. I struggled with postpartum depression and generalized anxiety disorder after my babies were born. Life was awful. Life was HARD. EVERYTHING was a chore- giving the kids a bath, folding laundry. Then my dr. put me on Vyvanse, and my life has changed. I started on 30mg and she's moved me up to 50mg, and I LOVE IT. I have lost almost 40 pounds because I am NEVER hungry, but more than not being hungry, I feel like I can control myself around food. I don't have to be embarrassed to go out to eat cause I know I can control how much I eat. I can get my work done at work and the end of this past school year was my most successful yet. It no longer feels like a chore to do the mommy things that I thought post-partum depression was keeping me from doing. I wasnt' depressed! The only negative side effects I occasionally deal with are a racing heart beat (doesn't last long) and I do have quite a bit of trouble sleeping. I find myself using Melatonin (a friend suggested it) to help myself sleep. Sometimes, I have to take a PM medicine to get to sleep. I'll take the occasional insomnia. I feel great. I feel in control and more than anything, I've learned to trust myself again. I recommend this drug to any adult who's struggling with the motivation needed to get things done, who feels sluggish and "checked out" all the time. Read More Read Less

My 14 year old son has been taking 40 mgs. of Vyvanse for six months and it has been a wonder drug. His grades has went from failing to B's and A's. The only problem has been getting the medication from the local phramacies in my area. He has had some mild headaches.

My son was diagnosed ADHD when he was 5,he is now 15. he has been on many meds, Concerta being the best so far, but unfortunately the maximum dosage just wasn't enough and he became immune to it after being on it for so long...so last year his dr switched him from Concerta to Vyvanse... his teachers were very impressed with his performance but our home-life was horrifying...He would have periods of uncontrollable rage....were he would physically attack me. I once had to lock myself in my bedroom, while he beat on my door with a baseball bat, screaming he was going to kill me because i had grounded him from his TV. He is now back on Concerta, even though his dr was very reluctant to take him off Vyvanse, and he is back to his normal self again. Needless to say, I strongly do NOT reccommend Vyvanse, it apparently helps some people....but was a living nightmare for my son and our family. Read More Read Less

I was just diagnosed with Adult ADHD. They tried Ritalin at first but I hated the Ritalin crash. Then they started me on Vyvanse 30 mg. What a difference. Now I can concentrate on my school work now. Now I on the 50 mg that helps me alot. Now I go to school with no problem at all.

I am an adult with ADHD. I was diagnosed as an adult, and for me it is better late than never. Regardless, I started on Strattera and climbed the dose ladder until my Doctor and I felt it wasn't working. Which it wasn't. We bounced around with Concerta, Adderall XR, and even one month of Vyvanse all at a low doses. Finally, we went to Concerta for about a year and a half. This also went up the dose ladder to 54mg twice a day. Concerta is okay, but for me the benefits are marginal. The side effects were awful. I had no appetite, the "Ritalin Crash" was atrocious, and concentration was there but marginal at best. It also burned out in four hours or less. Well, it turns out I have a fast metabolism, and all the low doses were not enough. This explains why the Vyvanse was ineffective for that month. Finally, my doctor put me on Vyvanse 70mg. I am very pleased with it. The focus effects are smooth. I am calmer. I am able to organize. I do not get distracted. I interrupt people less frequently. I am also no longer negative and brooding. I also pay attention to what is going on around me. The side effects are non-existent and unlike with Concerta there are no "crashes" just gradual upswing and let down. Sorry for the book, but I want to say this. One, this drug is not for everyone. It may work wonders for me personally, but it may not work for you. Whereas, Concerta may work better for you. Everyone is different. Two, realize it takes time to find the right dosage point. You may need to keep going up and then try other medications. I want end this by hoping that the effectiveness last, since this is my first month. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed at 19. It was a lifesaver-literally. I've never felt more self-satisfied or clear in my thinking. Its helped me with my schoolwork, my organization, and my social life. I had minor side effects : trouble sleeping at first, WEIGHT LOSS (which isnt always bad), i grind my teeth sometimes, and get anxious if i don't eat before taking the medication. these all got better as i adjusted to the meds and are all minor compared to the positive effects its had on my life.

I LOVE IT!!I was diagnosed with ADHD before they knew about the "H'. For the last 23 years I have been on and off different meds. Most of them worked ok for a while but after many years of taking them they became very ineffective. My new Dr. started me on Vyvanse 70mg 5mths ago and I am a NEW PERSON!! I am a teacher and I have so much more FOCUS and CONTROL at work and in life in general. Plus its first ADD drug to cut my appetite. Great benefit for me. I do have slight twitch in my forehead now, but deal with this b/c drug works so GREAT!!Read More Read Less

(College Student) I started on Vyvanse 50 which worked well, but lowered to 40mg after a month’s use. Before I started on Vyvanse I was never able to sit down and study for an extended period of time and I just never really finished what I started. Now my grades are great and I finish what I started. I did lose some weight. I honestly don't feel as hungry anymore, but I know that I need to eat and I do my best maintain a normal diet. The effects last 14-15 hours on me. I take it at 630am each day and once ingested sleeping in is no longer an option. I usually have to use the bathroom within an hour of ingestion also. I notice a small bit of anxiety but usually happens when I'm doing something rather than my homework. When I was on vyvanse 50mg the anxiety was greater. Occasionally I'll clean my house more thoroughly than normal and one day I started doing some yard work and next thing I know I'd pressure washed the house, swept off the roof, and cleaned out the garage as well; not a bad thing. I find myself not as concerned with what others are doing; even family members. But that's because I'm focused on my school work. I'm amazed that some little kids are on the higher doses. They should probably start with a smaller dose and move up from there. Read More Read Less
