Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

We've had to increase to dosage a couple times, but overall, I'm very satisfied with the results I've seen in my son.

39 yr old Male, was taking 20mg Celexa but didn't work that well. Trying 30mg Vyvanse for about 1 month. Works okay, some weight loss, faster heartbeat, some stomach problems and muscle aches but not sure if they are related. Mental focus seems a bit improved. This drug should work for some but too many horror stories in the reviews are making me look for natural options. Everyone should read Feingolds info about all the toxic food additives from oil by-products that cause most of these mental issues, especially ADD. Best of luck...Read More Read Less

The only reason my doctor put me on Vyvanse was because generic adderall was costing me $153.00 a month and I could get Vyvanse on the company's assistant program. The side effects were horrible. I was up for 5 nights straight, couldn't stop sweating and did not want to eat or drink. In the five day period I took the medicine I had 3 horrible migraines. I was so jittery it felt like I was on straight speed.

Way better than adderall! My heart would race when it would kick in, and with Vyvanse that doesn't happen. I can concentrate just as well, if not better.

This medication saved my life. I was diganosed with Bipolar disorder over 10yrs ago and have been on every antidepressant medication in the world.Nothing worked. My doctor finally thought to try this medication and it completly changed my life. I can actually function now and live almost normal. I still need adjustments from time to time but Wow! More doctors need to look at this med for bipolar usage. I have had no major episodes in over 2 yrs.

When the medication wears off, usually after 6 hours, and there isn't a repeat dose, my child will experience extreme emotional distress, crying, yelling, banging on the walls, kicking furniture, etc.

i was diagnosed with ADD as a child, i am now 32 and have been put on vyvanse in order for me to get ready to go and take some test boards, i am on 50 mg, and have been taking it for 3 days, the things that i have noticed is that i have dry mouth and want water, water, water, and that is not bad, i have no appitite at all, and when i am at work i can get things done like there is no tomorrow, but when i get home and get ready for bed, i can't seem to get to sleep at night or at least it seams as if i am not reasting soundly, so i find myself taking something to help me sleep before i have to get up and work hard core the next day, good thing that the medicine helps with that. any body have any thing to add to this.Read More Read Less

This is an update to my original posting in March 2008. My son is now 11 and since going on Vyvanse 20 mg we have not had to increase his dosage we have actually decreased it when they came out with the lower dosage. We do not give it to him during the summer or on weekends, we only give it to help him at school. This drug has really helped him in every aspect including making friends. He is now in a gifted class at school(Public) and this is after being kicked out of his 1st Elementary School(Private) because of bad behavior while on another drug. The main side effect is not being hungry, that is why it is important to give a big breakfast before taking pill and giving pill as early as possible. Also, feed as much as posssible on weekends when not medicated. He is also a little more sensitive with his emotions but I take all of this into consideration while he is medicated and make sure not to push his emotional buttons. Overall it has been a real blessing for him. Read More Read Less

I began Vyvanse early in August. At first it worked wonderfully; I was not taking things personally or blaming myself, I was letting go of emotional baggage, my appetite was curbed, and I was rather eager to chat. But after two weeks or so, some little thing that would have worried me but I would have dealt with just sent me into a tailspin. I was depressed, but I was depressed in high school and was more or less constant; this depression would come (or, rather, intensify) in waves that just overwhelmed me. If I heard a comedian or music or if someone offered food to me, anything that I would usually enjoy, I would find myself fighting sobs. I couldn't enjoy anything, everything that I would have tolerated was suddenly unbearable, everything seemed distorted and hopeless. Unless you're prepared for depression like this, then I ask you, think before using this pill.Read More Read Less

I have used this medication for over a year for ADD. I have tried Adderal, Stratera, Ritalin, Concerta, I am sure there is another one in there and I am forgetting the name. I have found that Vyvanse stays with me the longest throughout the day. Although I do have sleep apnea and I struggle with fatigue daily, this medication allows me to focus on the task in front of me. It helps me to sit long enough without wanting to get up and fidget with something else. The side effects that I commonly experience are a faster heart rate, but nothing disturbing, I seldom feel slightly shaking, and I am usually thirsty. All in all, not a bad medication and helpful to those with ADD. Read More Read Less

My son was on another ADHD medication and the doctor was having to increase his dose about every 6 months because it wasn't lasting. Then he was going to have him take a pill early in the morning and when he got home to be able to get through homework and soccer. He offerd the vyvance and said he thought it lasted longer than anything else. We switched about 5 weeks ago and we are in the 3rd week of school. My son said he likes it better because he doesn't feel like his personality gets as serious at the end of the day and he eats a lot better on it. Read More Read Less

My six year old son took his first dose yesterday morning. We could not believe our eyes! He was not bouncing off the walls, running from room to room. We always would tease and say he has two grears ON and ON. He was focused. He helped clean his room, he was able to fold clothes for the first time ever, he wasn't fustrated. He didn't interupt my husband while we were having a conversation, he waited patiently by our side for a moment for us to finish to ask his question. Only problem and this was very disappointing he fell asleep around 9:45 which is a bit later than usual, but woke up at 2am WIDE AWAKE. I tried everything, we read, and I gave him Benadryl at 3am. He was wide awake until 6:30am. Here it is 10am Sunday morning and he is still asleep. He can't go to school with this kind of sleep issue.Read More Read Less
