Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I am seventeen year old girl and this is my first adhd medication. The medicine will cause me to want to talk all the time. If I am not talking then i feel really anxious. I either have to be talking to someone or doing something. As the medicine starts to wear off I get really quiet but my mind is racing. It worked really well for 8 hours but the crash is unbearable. I have never felt depressed, anxious, or sad but with this medicine I feel so emotional during the crash. I wouldnt recomend it.

I am 28 yr old, full time work and part time school. I've had ADD since I can remember and put on everything. Adderall made my eyes bug out, irregular heartbeat and social anxiety (when i'm a social butterfly), been on everything pretty much and Vyvanse WORKS but I sweat like crazy and have trouble getting and staying asleep. Jitters a little, and muscle aches. Other than like A+++

I am a 56 y.o. male who despite the best intentions of MD's etc. who I have consulted with, and started with prescriptions, all of which did not work, I managed to make a fairly successful material and otherwise life for myself and family. I was also born with a severe hearing loss which was not diagnosed except for notes from my teachers like "John is a bright boy, but he does not pay attention". I now have hearing aids. I tried some Adderall at my RN friend suggestion, and it was like I was young again. Unfortunately, the side effects were to unacceptable to continue. Vyvanse was prescribed to me as if I were a six year old, as most MD's do...one size fits all. The "other" I selected was because I have been treated for depression, anxiety, bi-polar - you name it. All the rx's did for me was make me a zombie. I am really satisfied with Vyvanse, but have to keep seeking someone with a license to prescribe who understands. It is unfortunate that only folks like William Styron (passed) and Carrie Fisher know what I have to go through.Read More Read Less

My son is 9 yrs old and we've tried 3 different meds due to side effects. Vyvanse has worked the best and he has improved in school.

Initially, my 10 year old son did well. However, he quickly began to develop Tourette's like symptoms. Once we stopped the drug, the symptoms faded and disappeared! Although listed as a rare side effect, it is a big concern. No other drug we tried had this impact.

As an adult with ADD (not ADHD) I've found this medication to be very effective. I am able to complete tasks without getting hyperfocused and I don't get so overwhelmed. The "crash" is significantly less than I remember with Ritalin and Adderol, even Adderol XR. I have trouble sleeping while on this medicine, so I've found an over the counter herbal supplement with tryptophan and melatonin to be very effective in getting me to sleep. I also had some gastrointestinal trouble and supplementing my diet with chlorophyll has resolved those issues as well. Overall, the best of the ADD meds that I've tried.Read More Read Less

My experience with my 5 yr old grandaughter was not good. At 20mg daily it made her sluggish, sleepy, and tired Her activity level was slowed considerably which was good but not at the expense of her feeling well. She acted like a child with the flu.She also cried easily. She is above average weight and height so the dosage should have been okay. We stopped the med after two days.

As an adult with a longer work day & younger kids at home this medication has been a big improvement over prior "long" acting medications that I have taken. Once I was on the correct dose (60mg) I have found that I am able to still get things done that require a bit more focus after the kids go to bed, WITHOUT having to take another dose sometime during the afternoon. In the past I was taking two doses of Aderall XR during the day and getting about the same length of effect. I have to say that the most impactful improvement to me about the med. has been the lack of "feel" of the med. Both when the med. is starting to work & more importantly when it is wearing off (NO Moodiness or short fuse) which even with the afternoon dose I still seemed to have with other meds. The lack of the short fuse with the my family & ability to still get my work done and still get to sleep has been a big improvement in overall satisfaction & quality of life. The key to this med. is making sure the dose is right. My Dr. started me on a dose that was too high and I was hyperfocused, moody, and not fun to be around but like any of these meds. need to make sure that find the right stop for you & I'm glad I stuck with it for the week or so to find out. After reading a lot of the reviews, many that have not had a good experience sound like they may have had too much medication and the Dr. never adjusted the dose. My advise start LOW and work up to what is right for you so that you don't have as many side effects.Read More Read Less

i just started, but i had a VERY hard time falling asleep. and when i did fall asleep it was only for a few hours. i would also feel very jittery and sometimes hyperfocus. i would even space out while studying and when i was doing notecards the slightest thing such as a weird looking letter or sentence, id have to rewrite everything.

Vyvanse has been the best ADD drug I have taken as far as its lasting power. My liver chews up medicine but with Vyvanse I have been able to get 6-8 hours of good attention and focus.

Ok first of all I only have ADD and can not stand it when doctors tell me I have ADHD. I was diagnosed with it in the first grade and have taken many different medicine and this one is most likely my Next to least favorite. Sure it may be easy to take and might be affective but the 1st month on it was hell, and even now I still have side affects that everyone just tells me are normal because I'm not an adult. It has worked ok I guess in the means of helping me focus but everyone tells me I seem unhappy and misserable when I take it. I am always sad and have little to no appetite which has led me into eating dissorders and lots of other problems. So honestly on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best I would give this pill a 4 or 5 :( Also Im not saying that it's an all around bad medicine I just don't believe that it really works for 13-15 year old that already are going threw mood swing and feel conciensous (sorry for misspellings) about their weight. My dad who is 40 uses it and is very successful so, in my oppinion I just wouldnt give it to teenagers. *Tip for parents don't go up to your kid and ask them if they took their medicine today just because there in a good mood we don't appreciate it :)Read More Read Less

My 13 year old son started Vyvanse about 4 months ago. 40mg works wonders for him!He started on 30mg which worked for the first week or so then stopped working or not working as well anyway) We tried other meds off and on over the years but the side effects were bothering him too much to continue. Also he has CF and was already taking alot of meds daily so I didnt want to add to it if they were uncomfortable for him. Thanks to Vyvanse he went from a C student to on his way to straight A's for his first quarter in High School. He is also much less arguementive and I can tell by lunch time if he has forgotten to take it. At first he complained of dry mouth but that has subsided. He has lost some weight, but there was a bit of room for that anyway. He used to be a junk food addict, but now eats healthier without me having to bug him about it. Before, I had to plead with him for hours to get his homework finished. Now he gets in dome immediatly after school without any bugging from me. Read More Read Less
