Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

After trying numerous antidepressants with no relief, I was given this med. It had changed my life in only 3 days. I feel like I did before I had 3 children, a house payment, etc. I feel like I can breathe again!

My 9 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Vyvanese 20 mg was the first one I tried. I have tried skipping the weekends and started back on school days. By the afternoon of the first day back, she is violently nauseated, stomach cramps and severe headaches. Those side effects last most of the night and she is better by morning. This is the 6th week straight this happened. My docter recommends for her to take it daily. This is a problem as I do not want to have to wake her up early on the weekends to take it. Also, I do not want her body to think it has to have a drug everyday to function. However, she is making great conduct marks. At this point, I do not know what to do.Read More Read Less

My 10 year old daughter recently started this medication( 2wks and 2days)I'm not sure its working. She seems just as easily angered as before. It is better that Adderall. She would not eat for days on that med. She does eat breakfast, a little, and then a little dinner. my major problem is the nausua(sp?). It's not getting better. The doctor says keep going and it should get better. We'll see

I am a 20 year old female and got diagnosed with ADD about 5 years ago. I was on Adderall XR and I was taking 40mg. Adderall was good but the side effects were way too intense for me. I started at the normal 20mg and side effects were the same at 40mg. My Dr recently decided to switch me to Vyvanse and I couldn't be happier! The side effects are the same as Adderall but way easier to handle. With Adderall I didn't eat for the first 4 days I took it and lost 20 lbs! (not even kidding) With this, I can tell when I'm actually hungry and can eat more than 2 bites. With, Adderall I couldn't go out to eat with friends because I could never eat more than 2 bites of food. The "crash" isn't as bad as Adderall. The thing that drives me nuts is the dry mouth. I drink A LOT of water and still, my mouth always seems dry. Otherwise, this is the best ADD medicine I've ever been prescribed! Read More Read Less

I am a 23 year old male who was just diagnosed with ADD. I have been on this medication for almost two months now. I did ok in school but I never studied an hour in my life. This drug is pretty good, I am on 50 mg but I'm not sure if it is enough. The first day was really speedy, teeth grinding, heart race etc... I started taking half doses and slowly built up now I'm at 50 no problem. My only issue with the drug is I feel great for about 6 hours, good mood, no worry, (I'm a pretty anxious person), clear head for the first time in years. Not bored all the time. However I start to crash and get anxious, depressed and more add than ever. By 8 hours I'm a wreck. I also hyperfocus at night not during the day when I feel the effects. Not sure if I should keep taking it, not sure if it's worth the crash. Can be good for some but does not last the full 12 hours as advertised. Read More Read Less

I have only been taking Vyvanse for about a month but my family, friends and myself have seen a lot of changes in just about every category there is. Very happy that I was lucky to find a Dr. to find something for me so quickly so we were not playing guessing games with perscriptions. I will now be entering nursing school and will be way more confident in doing well!

I'm actually ADD, not hyper. I'm an adult woman and the reason I wasn't diagnosed earlier is because I wasn't hyper. As a student, there were days that I was fine but most days, my mind would wonder and I couldn't remember things the teacher said. It averaged out enough that my grades were fine. My biggest problem was that I was very disorganized and didn't finish projects. I told my doctor that I thought I was ADD but he payed no attention to me. I saw a new doctor and took a magazine ad for Vyvanse, he perscribed it. I'm amazed at the difference. I begin and complete projects, I feel confident with my business, I'm getting my finances in order, and I lost 15 pounds. I really wish I had been diagnosed years ago, my life would be so different. I have no problems with headaches when drinking alcohol as others have stated. My dosage is 50mgRead More Read Less

I have been prescribed concerta & adderall in the past and built up a resistance to both. After taking vyvance I do not have the side effects that I did with the others. It also is much more effective. I am on 60mg.

I have been taking Vyvanse for appx 6 weeks now with excellent results. I have never taken an ADHD medication so I have no basis for comparison to others but based on my current experience, I have no need to try an alternative. Would highly recommend.

It is smooth, last a solid 12 hours and works very well for my focus if I get proper sleep. Only side affects are rarely have slight blurred vision, or dry mouth. I dont drink alcohol but when I did for a social event I had unpleasant chest pains, I stay away at all costs when on the med. I am a 25y/m on 60mg daily. Sleep and proper diet are important to the effectiveness of Vyvanse for me.

7yr. old son taking 20 mg. I did not want any parts of any meds. but...I realized I was doing him a great misjustice by not trying one. Vyvanse was our first try and it is wonderful. Long lasing to get thru homework! The first few weeks were hell! He was sick to his stomach within the first 2 hrs. every day(crackers help) Mood changes were hard to take and sleeplessness was very hard. BUT... we are in our 2nd month and everything has evened out! He now takes Melatonin 30mg (natural OTC sleep aid) School is so much easier for him and socially he's doing great! We couldn't be more pleased with the results. I still hate the idea of giving my 7yr. old a pill but it really has worked wonders for attention! Read More Read Less

MY 14 YEAR OLD SON STARTED ON 30 MG DAILY. BY THE 6TH DAY HE WAS RUSHED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM BY AMBULANCE. HE WAS HAVING CHEST PAIN, IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT AND PASSING OUT. HIS EKG WAS ABNORMAL AND A REAL CONCERN. IT'S BEEN 4 DAYS SINCE HE STOPPED THE MEDICATION AND ACCORDING TO THE CARDIOLOGIST HIS EKG IS STILL NOT NORMAL AND THE ECHOCARDIOGRAM SHOWS HEART MUSCLE WEAKNESS. KEEP IN MIND HE (NEVER) HAD HEART ISSUES PRIOR. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND THIS MEDICATION.

Taking it for about a year. It was pretty good at first. Now I feel like I'm in a nightmare. I had really bad headaches, dry mouth and no appetite whatsoever. Lost 40 lbs but not healthy. Also started hearing things that no one else does and feeling paranoid,I have very bad mood swings and my breast are leaking! It took I lot of digging to find but can be a side effect of adhd meds. Restlessness and starting to get uncontrollable jerks. I had to go with out my meds for a week because I couldn't afford them, I felt like I had narcolepsy couldn't stay awake in the middle of the day. Plus really bad depression and withdraw. This drug is scary and wouldn't recommend to anyone.Read More Read Less

I'm a 14-year-old female with ADHD Inattentive Type. Before Vyvanse, I tried Strattera and Concerta. Then I went from 30 mg of Vyvanse, to 50 mg, to 70 mg, which is my daily dosage nowadays. Vyvanse helps me focus and get good grades in school. I did lose weight from lack of appetite, but I make up for it by eating as much as I want when I feel hungry. When I don't take my Vyvanse I am much "spacier"-- I kind of float around, forgetting things and spacing out when someone is talking. The difference is pretty noticeable. Overall, I'm satisfied with Vyvanse. It works for me!Read More Read Less
