Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My son was prescribed this medicine for ADD. We did have to up his dose after a growth spurt and hus teacher did comment that he was doing in better. Faast forward two months he is violent and very moody. His appetite is gone and he has lost weight. The up and downs with his moods swings are awful and we have taken him off the medicine. This is the 4th medicine we have tried to help with his ADD and we are done. Our son deserves to be a goofy kid. Not psycho and unpredictable like he has become. Please discuss this medicine with your Dr is you are prescribed it. We were told at the time he was prescribed that there are no side effects well it does have a huge mood altering effect.Read More Read Less

I have been on vyvance for about two weeks. It has saved my life. I am 33 years old. I am married and have children. My wife is amazed at the way I have responded to this medicine. I have never been content and I have always serched for something to make me feel normal. I abused drugs and alcohol since I was 15 years old. I have been on every anti depresant and bi polar medicine. I did not realize how much potential I have until I took this medicine.. I went from self destructive behvior to content and productive. I went from bits of rage, overreacting, always craving something, disrespectful, and many more symtoms, to control and content. My life has changed so much for the good.. It has saved my life.. I was having suicidal thoughts. Wonderfull medicine for me. I hope you can get what you need! good luck and god blessRead More Read Less

My 12 year old just got switched from Concerta and Strattera to Strattera and Vyvanse for ADHD mostly due to weight issues. We pretty quickly noticed excessive talking, tearful meltdowns, and angry mood swings with a very mean edge. He argues continuously over doing anything asked of him and quickly grows very angry, yelling and screaming directly at us. No behavior management even in public and if redirected, he loses it. This is not working and this is not my son. I am going back to Concerta or nothing at all.Read More Read Less

I'm 55m been treated for depresstion/PTSD for 20 years, recently diagnoses with ADD. Tried Adderall, too inconistent. This is a dream drug for me. Clear-headed, energetic (not jittery). Been ill with viruses and temporarily off it--to test if it (or viruses) causing my exhaustion. Do take this in conjunction with small, balanced amounts of other medications....

Unlike ritalin, when taking vyvanse I don't feel edgy or easily irritated. Also feel focused instead of uncomfortable and anxious.

My 7 year old starting taking this a month ago, and now his doctor increased his dose to 30mg. He has started to try cutting himself and jabs pencils in his hand. They call this self destructive behavior at school, he is only 7, this medicine has some awful side effects be careful and watch for personality changes.

my 5 year old son has started taking this medicine. Within the 1st week, we saw results! His teachers at school have all seen a change. He is doing 150% better at school! The only side effect I have seen is that he is a little more emotional, but hopefully that will wear off with time. He's only been on the meds 2 weeks. He takes the medicine every morning with his vitamin. I can tell around 5 in the afternoon that his medicine wears off. This has been a great med, so far.....

After trying many different types of medication for my ADHD I finally found one that worked for me. :) I am naturally a very hard worker, but now i'm a hard worker even when i'm doing things i hate or find boring (i.e. cleaning) If you're looking into this drug you need to realize that not everyone's brain chemicals will react the same way to every medication. I found it helpful to have a close friend keep an eye on me while i was trying new medications and she let me know if she thought they were working or if the side effects i was experiencing wasn't worth it (i.e. withdrawal, sleeplessness, anger, etc.) but Vyvanse has really worked for me. My grades get so much better when i take my medication and I actually think before i speak! haha (saves me from alot of trouble) the only real side effect i have experienced with Vyvanse is loss of appetite. I have to make sure i eat because i wont even be hungry for like 12 hours on this. But all in all it is totally worth it! i'm actually doing well enough in school to go to college because of this! :) Read More Read Less

I am a 26 yr old female with severe ADHD and Bipolar. I have been taking Vyvanse for 3 weeks. I have never in my whole life been so happy with a medication before. I was diagnosed with adult ADHD 2 yrs ago and since then I have been on Wellbutrin, strattera, ritilin, focalin, and provigil. For the first time in 7 yrs i feel like myself! I am able to concentrate, my memory improved, and my impulses have gotten under control. I don't crash like I did with the other meds...and I have been able to cut the dosage of my sleeping pill in half! I am so thankful to get my life back! Read More Read Less

I love this med. I am 21 w/ADHD and I have been taking vyvanse for about a year. At first it was not very effective, now at 70mg its working like a charm. I have tried 3 other ADHD meds and they made me worse-to the point of a crazy mental breakdown.Vyvanse is great, but with talking to other people and my DR it seems to work best for adults living with ADHD.
