Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I recently was diagnosed with adult ADD and was prescribed this medication. It has changed my world! I can focus on things/ understand things better than I ever have before. I'm a student and it's improved my grades by a full letter grade. I also use to be slugglish during the day and often had to force myself with every inch of my being to do things but now I have the energy and willingness to get things done. The only thing that does scare me about it is that sometimes my heart does sort of ache even though all of my tests come back normal. I would definetly recommend this medication. Read More Read Less

My son suffered severe anger episodes and cried most of the day. He had absolutely no appetite. He did not smile and had no intrest in anything at all.

DO NOT MIX WITH PAXIL. I was diagnosed with ADHD over 10 years ago when I was in elementary school. I was on concerta and the dosage kept increasing. MY doctor switched me to vyvanse because I was concerned with the high dosage I was taking of concerta. Vyvanse was great. The dosage was lower, and I felt more aware and had less difficulty getting myself motivated to do school work. However, when I told my university that I had switched medications, I was surprised when their database displayed a huge "WARNING." Apparently, the database had knowledge that Vyvanse shouldn't be mixed with my other medication for anxiety, Paxil. Doing so could result in a dangerous mental condition... I don't remember the names, but it was like I could become a vegetable or go insane. My doctor didnt tell me about this, and it's hard to find info online about it; but I trust Penn State's medication database when it doesn't allow the combination of the medications to be entered at all! I switched back to concerta, but I'm still very unsatisfied and concerned for my heart...Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for almost 2months. I started out with 40mg. and that worked for about 2 weeks and just stop working. then My doctor upped my dose to 50mg...to be honest it like God is truly blessing me...It helps so much with school an homework.I get things Done! This medication might not be for everyone. but you have to get to know you body and talk to you doctor ...dont just let them decide what kind of medications....And for those who are having trouble with the medicaiton...i found out that having a heavy or descent breakfeast before you take you meds that wil really help...dont ask me why it just does! also keep a bottle of water with you , your mouth is going to be dry...i just chew gum....mood swings some times....but im a over dramitic person so it doesnt really get me all that much...my doctor also has me on zoloft...that helps also with my moods...Well hope this helps...God blessRead More Read Less

My son has struggled for a couple of years with grades. I had him tutored 2 years which helped at first but his attention span was so short and just got worse. I knew about the side affects of ADHD drugs and did not want to put him on one but finally realized I had to do something for him. This medication has worked wonders for him! The side affects have been mild...I should say manageable. He is not hyper so it makes him hyper, i have to remind him to eat,and there is some mild aggression that i have to remind him to control but the difference in his grades is well worth the slight changes we have had to adjust to. He just might be on the A-B honor roll for the very first time!Read More Read Less

I am 17 and currently a student in highschool. If i dont take the medicine i cant get anything done, and the procrastination is absolutely terrible. However when i am on it i finish all of my work and actually enjoy studying and working out problems. only downside for me is that it makes your arm pits sweat alot, clammy hands, and dry mouth. but i drink alot of water to help with dry mouth. it also helps me shut up, i now think before i talk, which has saved me in numerous situations and keeps me out of trouble. When i am on it i dont really care to socailize with friends, usually just go straight to class, however i do not take it on weekends therefore i still have fun with friends. This medicine is how i know a god truly does exist.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed ADD (not HD) at almost 30 years old. I've been told I was lazy, disorganized, and a procrastinator all of my life. Thankfully, my doctor recognized what was really wrong with me and prescribed Vyvanse. It's been wonderful. I'm now more organized, focused, and able to concentrate than ever. It's truly changed my life. I take 60mg every morning when I wake up and have good energy and focus right through the end of the day. No side effects at all. This drug seems to be much more effective in adults than children.Read More Read Less

we have tried everything with my son, vyvance is the only thing that helped, other drugs either did nothing or tuned him into a zombie, with the vyvance he is much more focused, incontrol, and happy.
