Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I started taking 30mg about 6 mos ago to help with adult ADD. I took myself off of it, rather unintentionally and figured I was doing ok off of it. Upon seeing my doctor again for a routine follow-up exam I talked about excessive fatigue that I was having. She suggested I start the Vyvanse back up and wow, what a difference. It's helped me a lot this winter with staying awake/alert and helped my mood considerably. Additionally, I can feel the difference in my work performance big time. I work at a job where attention to detail is paramount and honestly, I'm a much, much better employee on this stuff. I've had literally NO side effects at all. Even going off, I had maybe some mild headaches for a day or two and that was it after taking it for about 5 months daily. It's an absolute God-send with no highs or crashes. Just don't drink too much morning coffee with it as I've gotten a little bit of the jitters with excessive caffiene. It gets better after I've been on it for a while. Excellent medication that I would highly recommend to anyone needing some help getting organized.Read More Read Less

My daughter is 7 yrs old and just started taking this medication on Sunday (yesterday) and no real harsh side effects as of yet so we think its pretty good so far. All I have seen in a side effect is her constantly moving her jaw back and fourth and it was around the time she was coming down off it. I do not like to see her doing that so I am not sure what we will do about it. Also she didnt get much sleep last night, she was up on and off through the night. Today I have sent her to school on it with a note to the teacher informing her and have her write me back and let me know how her day has gone. So I will see her at 3 and see how she is. One more thing is she did have the 'zombi' like symptom too, just sitting around looking like a zombi, but did focas more on things. So I will leave this review as this and write another if I see a change! Hope this helps! All your other reviews has really helped me!Read More Read Less

I take it for my ADD/ADHD to help with concentration in my college classes and it has been great. I really had to watch the amount of weight I lost while on the medicine. I found that the later in the morning I take the medicine the longer I'm awake at night. I was cautious when taking this because headaches were a side effect and I was having chronic migranes but when I started taking this I also changed another one of my medications and haven't had horrible migranes since. I have done exceptionally better in school and could for once be able to manage my time. For me the benefits definitly outweigh the symptoms of loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, and dry mouth.Read More Read Less

I've been on Vyvanse for about 8/9 months now. I started on 50mgs then recently increased to 60mgs because it didnt seem like the effectivness was lasting as long as my Dr said it should. This medication has been a God Send. I spent 32 yrs of my life not understanding why I could never finish anything I started. Now w/ the medication I can actually complete projects personal & work related. My immediate manager has even been impressed w/ my work. She has made many comments to the difference she has seen in me & my improvements overall at work. It gives me the ability to get things done, when before I was the worst procrastinator alive! I give it a thumbs up! The only negative things are the price of the drug, I wish they would come out w/ a generic and the other only being able to obtain a script for 30 days at a time. Im new to this type of med so I don't know if thats across the board w/ ADHD meds, but it would be so much easier if I could get a 6 month supply/refills. Otherwise I think its a wonderful medication & Im so thankful my Dr introduced me to it!! Read More Read Less

Let me say first, that as a Registered Nurse, I was very much synical of the diagnosis of ADHD/ADD. Not having any personal experience with it, I ignorantly assumed that it was an excuse for normal childhood behavior, over diagnosed, etc. About 2 years ago my(now 8 yr old, then 6 yr old)daughter began exibiting symptoms that as a first time mother I regarded as typical behavior. With time, the "typical" behavior became more and more difficult for us to manage. She began getting into trouble at school on a daily basis- literally. I knew she was a handful, but I could not imagine that she could legitimately be getting into trouble EVERY day. She has now been taking Vyvanse for about 6 months and it has made an UNBELIEVEABLE difference. We started out on Concerta which was effective with her impulsivity and attention, but made her emotional in the afternoons & evenings, while taking it, she would have emotional outbursts out of nowhere, which was alarming to me, but also confusing for her. When she began taking Vyvanse, she was able to pay attention in a way that I do not think that she has ever been able to. More important and reassuring to me was the improvement of the impulsivity that constantly had me on edge and worried. She immediately began to take off again in school and is catching on to concepts and ideas that were so abstract for her before. No emotional outbursts with Vyvanse and she is able to sleep at night. It does supress her appetite and as a result has lost about 5lbs, but because she has seen and felt the difference that the medication makes, she does not want to stop taking & is willing to take nutritional supplements to prevent further weight loss. If you are hesitant to have your child start this medication or any other ADHD medication- ll I can say is GIVE IT A TRY! There is no substitution for seeing your child succeed and knowing that they are developing a healthy self-esteem! If your child had leukemia, you would treat it with meds, right?Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with ADD/HD at 15, and have been on IR adderall (2x a day) now for 7 years. However, I switched to Vyvanse recently because adderall's effects became largely diminished over the years, yet the side effects persisted. Adderall was always a wonder-drug to me, since it allowed me to focus. However, over the last year, I started to have panic attacks and high blood pressure, which I'm assuming is due to the Adderall. One panic attack was so terrible I checked myself into the emergency room just because I had no idea what was happening (e.g. I didn't realize I was having a panic attack) I've been on Vyvanse for two days now, and so far everything is great. It's definitely a lot "smoother" than adderall. The effects have last throughout the day, no sudden crashes in energy, no sudden panic attacks, just smooth sailing. I'm pleased with the switch. Vyvanse works almost as well as Adderall XR without the crash at the end of the day. Vyvanse is much smoother entering your system and I don't notice any drop off at the end of the day. The downside is I have trouble sleeping and occasional dry mouth. I'll deal with these symptoms vs. feeling exhausted at six o'clock in the evening.

Way expensive!!!! I hate to give it up because it has been so effective but it went up by 50% and it was already prohibitively unaffordable.

I have ADD, inattentaive type. Been on Adderall XR, Ritilian LA, Dextoampthemine and Strattera. Was give the Vyvanse because the Adderall, Ritilian and Dextro stopped working after a few months. On Vyvanse I was tired all the time, take my dose at 7:30 am and falling asleep by 11:30. I was unable to focus on anything and am better off med free

Since getting help for ongoing ADHD, Vyvanse has worked wonders for me. I'm more motivated, less overwhelmed, and ready to hit the ground running. So far, the only side effect I've had is dizziness and it is infrequent. The 40mg dose, once daily, is working great. I couldn't be happier!

I was diagnoised with EDS Excessive daytime Sleepiness several years ago. Vyvanse has helped. I do no go to sleep at traffic lights and in meetings. I take 50ml per day. but the effectiveness wears off earlier now after 2 years on this drug. some blurred vision, but may be due to age and old contacts.

Works great. I am currently on the 60mg dose. It makes me more efficient and alert. Initially it kept me awake but after my body adjusted my sleep pattern resumed to normal. Does affect my appetite. I take it w/ breakfast around 7 am and usually have to force myself to eat lunch, but by Dinner my appetite is back-- and its not an excessive urge to eat everything in site.

The medication worked well initially (I was prescribed 50 mg), but I quickly found that while I was not physically addicted to the drug, I was increasingly dependent on it. It actually got to the point where I would dread going through the day without taking it. It also ruined my sleep schedule... at one point I was waking up at 5pm, sleeping at 9am. I know, you must be thinking that I have long-standing drug dependency issues, but that is not the case. I had been on adderall and ritalin before, and even been on vicodin after dental work, but none of those drugs could induce the fear of living a day without the drug like vyvanse did. Honestly, the urge to take Vyvanse was greater than any urge I had to take a Vicodin, which i never abused. I should also add that I was not on any other drugs, nor was I suffering from any mental illness - although I was sad because I recently had moved to Philadelphia for school. Vyvanse can seriously alter your social life. Aside from the chronic insomnia, I found that I was often in a zombie-like state when I took the drug. I also had the urge to talk to every person I met, and would sometimes sit down and draw incredibly elaborate pictures that were ruined because I would "over-work" them. In addition to a totally diminished appetite, I also found that I would get terrible headaches after a few hours (probably b/c I hadnt eaten anything), and would become extremely irritable. I also often got diarrhea from the drug, and my breath had a foul, chemical taste to it. I would also have to urinate frequently, and my heart beat was outrageously high. Of course, this was just my experience with Vyvanse, but if you have similar symptoms, I recommend IMMEDIATELY talking to your doctor and trying another drug. You may quickly become psychologically dependent upon it - it took me a year to kick the Vyvanse habit, after it had ruined a full year of my academic and social life. Read More Read Less
