Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I have been taking this medication for 6 months now. It helps with my ADD and helps concentration at work and while studying. (Both important for 20 year old college kids!) I found taking 30mg of vyvanse twice a day was much better than 4 10mg of Adderall. The only reason my doctor took me off of this medication occured when my hands and feet were cold and numb and STAYED that way! It's called Raynaud's Phenomenon caused by constriction of blood vessels. If you have a child on this medication please watch for this effect!!!Read More Read Less

both of my children (teen and per-teen), have been taking this medication and their school work has improved, straight A's and they are much more able to stick to the task at hand, not only at school but at home and socially. I can also see a big improvement in their self-esteem

I have been taking Vyvanse for 4 months and it has worked great for me. Occasional headache and slightly lowered appetite have been the only side effects, and I'm not sure they are even directly related to this prescription. All things considered I give it an A+ and would reccomend it to anyone considering switching medications or curious of Vyvanse effects.

I have always felt like I was stuck in the cloud and could not follow direction. I went through many jobs and I am a very goal oriented person so it was horrible. I went through a divorce over having ADHD and not knowing it. After my mom coming to me and begging me to go to the doctors and explain my systems I did. My 7 yrs old son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 4 and I kept saying I do not act like him when he is off his meds but its different having it as an adult. I went to the doctors and they diagnosed me with ADHD I was 1st put on the lower 30 mg of Vyvanse and I am a tiny person to begin with it did not work and then my doctor switched me to 60 mg I am a completely different person. Now being a single mom I have an awesome career and without Vyvanse I could not have. I set goals for myself and I achieve them. I could not do that before. I am not tired anymore like I was. I can fully pay attention to a conversation and understand what someone is talking about. A lot of people who have ADHD without treatment feel like they have a learning disability with treatment that is not the case. Now I do have trouble sleeping and if I take the meds to early I get tired at about 6 at night. But this drug changed my life it is a miracle what it does for you. If I skip a dose though not only am I able not to focus but I get very tired and I have bad migraines. I only have skipped a dose if I have left the meds at home or I have ran out of them. I high recommend this is now I have a better understanding of what my son goes though. I am getting ready to start grad school and without this med I would not be able to even be excepted into a grad school let alone want to attend one to get my masters! Read More Read Less

this medication has really helped me get the cloud out of my head that keeps me from completing mundane day to day tasks, and it has also put the task at hand as my first priority and kept me from doing things that keep me from doing what i need to be doing. helps me study as i am in college and has made my life much less stressful.

I starting taking Vyvance several weeks ago. It works well, improving focus, however at moments I feel scatterbrained. My ability to multitask seems to have dwindled, causing me to flip from one task to another. I do remember tasks I have to do through out the day. I am much more successful at finishing work intensive tasks that I would have previously procrastinated on. Side Effects: The WORST SIDE EFFECT is that I can not go to sleep when I take it. Even when I wake up at 6 to go to school or work, I often find myself up till 2-3A.M. If I take it later it can be worse, because of this I usually am only willing to take it 4 times a week. Nearly as bad, I have lost 10 pounds in about a month of usage. Not a wonderful thing, when you are already thin, and very counterproductive to working out at the gym. Additionally I will find myself eating only two, smaller meals a day. I often have to force myself to eat, recognizing that what I am hungry for dosent represent my caloric demands. In review it is a very effective medication, however the side effects effect me enough that I believe there are better options out there. It is just TOO time released for me, that and I can not afford to loose more weight.Read More Read Less

My son is 10 and started on feb 2nd 2010, first week only stomach pain with 20 mg for one week. got thru 2nd week w/40 mg. extreme tiredness, tightness in chest or having trouble taking a deep breath, twitch with eyelid, appetite suppression and am going to call his dr. to advise. i will not keep him on this. No change whatsoever from taking Metadate 30mg daily. He is bipolar as well as oppositional defiant disorder as well. guess it just doesnt work for him. Hope this helps someone else.

I had been taking Adderal XR for years and it started making me VERY sick. So I switched to Vyaanse. WOW! What a differnce! I have tried many different ADHD meds and this is THE best I have ever used! It keeps me focused and there aren't any highs and lows. Once the medicine is through your body you can just go right to sleep. Adderal, it seemed to me stayed in my body for days, leaving me with the feeling of almost being hungover. This is truely a miracle drug. I can be me, but a more focused me. Since taking Vyvanse everyone in my life has noticed the change and like it. It keeps me level headed and keeps me in the zone with what Im doing. I can't see myself ever changing meds now. Read More Read Less

At first the medication made me tierd and weak but after a few days it began to work. In my opinion this medication is a miricale drug. I feel better as in the case of energy, it has decreased my anxiety levels, but for sme reason my deppression has gote worse. All together though i would recomend this to other people with ADD or ADHD.

This med worked great for the 1st week and then began to give me horrible stomach pain and then because of the pains i couldnt concentrate on any thing else but being uncomfortable, that was the only side effect i have had. i am going back to my doctor to try some thing different. Kinda sucks because my imidiate family/co-workers noticed such a huge difference with my daily tasks as an employee & a mother of two.

Vyvanse has made a world of difference to my life & our family. Yes, the appetite suppression did require a little conscious management for the first week or so after starting a new dosage level, but it wasn't hard to do. I just had to remember to eat at meal times instead of working through them, and I made sure to eat things that were nutrient-dense. High protein & fiber gave me enough to not crash from hunger later without my having to eat a big volume of food. Other than that, I did notice that when my dosage was at a level that was helpful but not quite high enough, I would get very, very tired by evening. Exhausted. It sort of forced me to take the time to get enough sleep, so that's probably not a bad thing. That effect also decreased over time, and my productivity and clarity of focus were so much improved that it was worthwhile.Read More Read Less

I haven't been on this for long, but what a differance. No highs or lows, just focus from 6am to 8pm. I'm a big guy and am only taking 30mgs in the morning, so I'm glad I have plenty of room to move up in dosage if I need to in the future. I wish I could have diagnosed decades ago, as my life would have been much differant. Very pleased so far.
