Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

At the age of 40 I finally decided to do something about my life long ADD. Within the first two days I had the clarity I was missing, but most importantly I was able to control situations instead of flying off the handle. Expierenced dry mouth and was not a hungary as usual. Mentally and physically I am in a much better place. FYI I run a $50m business for a global company.

I am a junior in high school and began taking vyvanse at the beginning of the third marking period. The results were amazing, my GPA went from a 2.9 during the first and second quarters, all the way to a 3.8 (Fully true and unexaggerated) My only regret is not taking it sooner. It is truly like magic.

I am a 47 year old female who has recently diagnosed with ADD. I was under the assumption that only children had Add or Add-HD. For most of my life I have had difficulty concentrating and /or focussing on anything for long periods of time. I am an avid reader, yet find I have to read pages more than once sometimes. Although I am a neat freak, organizational skills are some what lacking. And the most difficult of all was my lack of patience with people.I even tried "exercises" with my mind, e.g.; word jumbles, crossword puzzles, mazes to little or no avail. I went ti see a psychologist who through testing came up with my diagnosis. She was a PhD. and not an M.D.,and could not prescribe medication. I had to see a Psychiatrist who did prescribe Vyvanse. I started out on 50mg once a day for about 2 weeks, and had a little difficulty sleeping a few nights. So I requested I be bought down to 40 mg. I find it O.K., but got much more done on the 50mg with not as much "getting in my way". I wish I had found out about my ADD in college, it would have made my academic life so much better. I would definately recommend this to adults with this disorder.Read More Read Less

I am a 21 year old man who was diagnosed with ADD about 3 mounths ago. At first my docter prescribed me Strattera. It made me sick to my stomach, an feel extremely tired, and drugged all the time. At my second appointment 2 weeks ago I was prescribed 30mg of Vyvanse. It has been great, I now have paitients, and can organize things. I do things that need to be done, and do them right. I have even put in over 10 job apllications been hired to work construction, and been to church both sundays. These are things that I never used to do. This medication really does work wonders if you need it. I actualy get more sleep while taking it, and have missed no meals. The only problem I have with it is that I have no insurense, and it cost so much. I'm going to have to try something that I can afford untill I get insurense. Read More Read Less

Daughter has been on since December 2009, takes 20mg 2x daily, and has done well on this, we have seen improvements in school and home. Can tell when medicine is wearing off, she gets cranky, and won't listen as well, but otherwise we are pleased at the progress

I am a 25 year old college senior. If you have severe adult ADHD, a medicine like this helps! But I have to suggest something to all your parents out there with a young child with ADHD, giving them anything with an amphetamine or amfetamine is not good!!! I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 9 years old and was put on high doses of Ritalin at first, three times a day. Lets just say, it got me "hooked". I was prone to addiction at an early age and had the same moody, agitated, irritable affects as all these other children I'm reading about in the comments. I was always on top of my pecriptions to make sure I had there for me to take and not have to go a day without it. It did help me with my school, but at what cost? I honestly don't believe young children should ever be put on any medication like this. Their bodies are so young and fragile and this drug as well as all the others I was on (Adderall) will hurt them. Children don't know any better about themselves and how they feel and treating them with drugs shouldn't start at such a young age. You'll start making them believe they need to be depended on a drug as they get older. Please, take it from me, a woman who got addicted to drugs since 9. Parents have been dealing with unruly children for thousands of years before medince like this :) Aside from that, I was able to quit my addictions (I truly wanted to quit and succeeded. You have to want to do it for yourself) and lead a good life. This medicine works best with adults. Adults who can reason about who they are and what they are taking, can take action if something's not going right, and also don't have addiction problems. What goes up must come down, and the coming down from Vyvanese and any other ADHD can suck. Though, these side effects can be overcome, It's not hard, I promise! I hope this helps anybody out there.Read More Read Less

I am a 31 year old female and have was diagnosed with Adult ADD 12 years ago in college. I never took anything back then. I work two jobs and constantly have to be moving and doing. I have always had a difficult time finishing any project or focusing on any one thing at a time. I started back to school last fall, and I could not get anything accomplished - my mind was all over the place. I went to my Doctor after encouragement from other people I know with ADD. He ran a number of tests to rule out anything else and prescribed me Vyvanse. I knew it would take a little time to adjust, but within a week of taking this medication I was at work and started a project and completely finished it. I don't remember ever being able to do that before! I am still working two jobs and have a 2.92 GPA! It allows me to stop and think about something without 20 million other things going through my head. The downside is that it does make me not have an apetite and I have to watch intake of caffeine! But I love Vyvanse!Read More Read Less

My 6yr old son has only been on this med for a short time, but already i see so much improvement!!! My son has been a medication yoyo. He's been on so many medications that i can't remember them all. It's so sad. I know that there's "medication trial" inorder to find the right one, and i know that my son has a high medication tolerence level. But it still makes me ill to think of everything my son has gone thru inorder to get where we are now on vyvance. My son will be 7rys old next month and i can tell u that i've never seen or heard him laugh the "school girl giggle" til vyvance. He takes one pill a day and concentrates during school, he fairly calm when he gets home til bed. he sleeps all night long. He's not longer stealing or hoarding food. He has a personailty, he's not a zombie. He has more than one emtion(mad)now. He's plesant, playful, he laughs, shares, sleeps. Maybe this is just the beginning so that's why it's working so well, but even with that said, i've never seen a med do all this right away or even later in the time table. I'm so glad i have son and not a mad, unfocused zombie! Waiting it out has finally paid off!!!!!! And my son is better for it.Read More Read Less

My 6 year old was on concerta and I felt like it was losing its effect so we started vyvanse. What a nightmare this has been. He is irritable, aggresive, and more impulsive than ever. It is suppose to last 12 hours after about 5 he is more active than ever. We go back to the doctor in 3 days. I want him back on concerta or something else. This medicine is awful

I have suffered with ADD all my life and when this new "miracle" drug came into view I was naturally curious. As a writer by trade and a sufferer of chronic fatigue, and chronic meningitis caused from a bout with West Nile virus about 3 years ago. I was thrilled to finally be getting some relief for my memory and concentration issues until the medication caused some serious agitation, nervousness and constant detachment from others. I have thought that if I just hang in there maybe over time my body with feel some more positive results so I am still hopeful the medication will do what I need it to do completely. It has not helped that I am going through menopause as well and that may also be a factor. Time will tell. My 15 year old son has been on the same medication but different dose for over a year. It has been a tug of war with him to stay positive and not get depressed either. I am not entirely convinced one way or another yet!Read More Read Less
