Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I just got prescribed with Vyvanse today. And it works miracles within the first hour to hour and a half. I am 16 years old. It works great! I don't feel lazy! or any ADD symptoms. (I don't have ADHD, i have ADD) But I just feel like i can do anything I can put my mind to and its a wonderful feeling to know that you are happy and carefree. This medicine works Miracles! I can actually focus! even with distractions! I highly reccomend it! but Go talk to your doctor about it. I have not had it for a full 24 hours so i will let you know if i have any side effects, so far i have a slight headache, but its not a bad one at all. I feel so energized. but not hyper. I just feel like i am ready to take the day, and i am so positive. But not overwhelmingly positive! I am not crazy! But i am rambling right now! But I highly reccomend vyvanse if you have ADD ADHD or any kind of focusing problems associated.Read More Read Less

My son, who was 10, was given this medication by his Dr, who was concerned about his weight loss after being on Addreall... The first day he took his pill, he was in bed crying for hours because nothing we did could get rid of his headache. After 3 more days of all day headaches, so bad he wouldnt get out of bed, the dr decided that he was allergic to the meds and put his back on addreall. Am looking for something else to try. At age 12 he is still only 4'8 and 69 pounds.

I began taking this medication and within a week i was in a dance studio choreographing for 20 people doing independent minuets that required immense forethought, planning and musical interpretation. This medication has helped me to achieve a higher level of day to day functionality than i had previously thought i was capable of. I have seen first hand that this medication does not work for everyone, but it has changed my life.

My son is 9 years old and has been taking Vyvanse 20 MG once a day for 5 months. He is doing great on it. He has been able to focus and has become more inquisitive. IT is a great medication.

I have a question, my 17 year old daughter is on Vyvanse. She did very well with this medication, but we stopped taking it when school let out for the summer. Now we are getting ready for school to start and start her medication. Just wondered if this is ok or should she be taking this all the time everyday?

I have always had a problem with staying organized and on time. I never really had an issue with concentration or focus until a few years ago and then the symptoms got worse. I saw a Dr. because of these symptoms along with depression and anxiety and nothing helped me until i decided to see a psychiatrist at the beginning of the year. Right away he was able to diagnose me with adult ADHD. He started me off with Vyvanse 70mg and the effects were amazing the same day of taking it. It would last all day for about 3 months and then it started wearing off by noon after that. Since then I've tried all other types of ADD meds and nothing has really helped for my afternoons. I start to crash bad and feel like a 31 yr old in a 70 yr old body with dementia. Either way, at this moment I am trying Focalin for the afternoon and we will see how that works out for me. Vyvanse is not for everyone but for me, it works wonders, I just wish my insurance would approve it twice a day so I can feel normal all day. The only worse part of it is the horrible dry mouth. Gum and peppermint candies help with that for anyone who is wondering.Read More Read Less

I have had ADD my whole life. Not the hyperactive part. But, I had a hard time prioritizing, lack of motivation, and paying attention. Growing up my parents would always have to nag me to do homework, not watch t.v. and not always worry about my social life. My ADD got worse when I became a young adult. My parents suggested going to talk to the doctor about it. I was always embarrassed and didnt think that anything would help. Finally, I talked to my doctor my senior year of high school and she prescribe me Adderall xr 20 mg. It really helped me focus and get things done without being so overwhelmed. I had been on this for 5 years on and off. I became pregnant and stopped taking it and breastfed for awhile. Then, I started noticing around noon I would feel unmotivated, angry and scatter brained. So I talked to my Dr. and she prescribed me Vyvance. It helped me all through the day,now that I have a lot more on my plate, and by night time I was able to sleep all night. The only difference is that it seemed to take a bit longer to help but it helps a lot longer. Alot of times on Adderall I felt really kinda drugged up and then I would feel down the rest of the day. I'm happy that my parents never decided to put me on medication when I was young, I dont think I would have handled it well. Parents seem to think its the easy way out. If I can give any advice, it would be, wait until you or your child are ready to talk to your doctor about getting medication!Read More Read Less

Vyvanse 30mg works well for me. I am a 61 year old with ADHD SO BAD!!!!....only problem I have is that I sometimes sweat a great deal, then it subsides. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know if it is related to having caffeinated ice tea part of the time, any caffeine or what. In hot weather, I am drinking gatorade to compensate.

A couple of years ago our family doctor diagnosed my husband with ADHD and she prescribed him Vyvanse. This medicine is NOT for everyone! He was having psychotic episodes and became violent with everyone. We didn't know who he was anymore. He would have trouble sleeping and having little to no appetite. He became very paranoid. I sent him back to the doctor to let her know the side effects he was having and she stated it was happening because the medicine was wearing off. So she gave him a higher dosage of the medicine. And he was still having the same affects. So I talked him out of taking the medicine! He was fine without medicine before. And now I rather him being ADHD than psychotic! And also I work in a hospital and I see all these kids being sent to the hospital because of suicidal violent behaviors. And when I look at the home medicines the kids are on, 90% of the time the kids are on Vyvanse! So that's when I knew for sure this medicine is NOT for everyone!! I wouldn't recomment this medicine at all!!!Read More Read Less

I am 38 and was diagnosed with ADHD over a year ago. Initially I was perscribed Adderall 30 mg twice daily. My new doctor prescribed Vyvanse for me approximately 3 months ago. The inital dosage was 50mg. Two weeks later he changed the dosage to 70mg. I am doing well with this medication. My only side affect is dry mouth. I am now able to focus and accomplish my daily tasks with out feeling overwhelmed. I would recommend this medication to anyone who suffers from ADHD.

My son is now 15 and was diagnosed when he was about age 9. He has serious trouble with swallowing pills and since this can be opened and added to a bit of water makes it much more tasteful to my son than chewing his ritilan. The first week he was on the drug was absolutley amazing. He went from failing school to getting As and Bs and playing football and wrestling for his school. He suffers from some of the usual side effects. dry mouth loss of appetite and sometimes sleeplessness. The dosage has not been changed since his original perscription and he is still maintaing a good average in school. He calls this his wonder drug. He is a much happier kid and we are much happier parents.Read More Read Less
