Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I am a 48 year old male and have thought I had ADD for years. Well, I FINALLY went to my Dr. and she put me on this drug. First thing I noticed? I COULD NOT SLEEP! I have been taking it now for 5 days. So far, I dont know what to think. I do get sudden urges to have to the bathroom, as I feel as I may have a "bad stomach". And dry mouth. thats bad as well. I also will sweat, out of the blue, for no reason. I NEED this drug to work as this problem has been a problem for years.

I'm a highly active 25/m. I can concentrate at work and read books pretty easily with this medication. I can focus on meticulous tasks at work (I'm an accountant). I take 40mg and experience a huge mood boost for the first 2-3 hours after taking it, then it wears off. I don't notice any side effects; I was taking Strattera, and experience drowsiness and was always yawning. I don't take it on the weekends usually.

My daughter has been on this Vyvanse medicine for about 3 weeks and has had several symptoms that I have read. She has become more irritable, went from eating while on Concerta to not wanting to eat taking this new medicine. She has even gotten a sever twitch in her neck that we have noticed as her teachers. I have put a call into her doctor and when they call me back I am going to tell them I am taking her off this new medicine. I will not give this medicine a good review.

I am not happy at all with this medication. I am worse than what I was when I taking Adderal. This medication has not stopped or even slowed down my brain if anything it has made it worse. I cannot concentrate, always finding something else to do. I am a student and this is not good for me at all.

I AM 16 AND CURRENTLY TAKING VYVANCE I have been on vyvanse for about 2 1/2 years I had switched from adderal to vyvance due to horrible insomnia. The first day WoW i was calm focused didnt feel like i was tweaked or a zombie.I found classes I used to do poorly in and didnt understand to make some sense I felt like I could do good and I did I was borderline failing every other class on my progress report to all A's and B's.Vyvance is a very effective medicine I didnt know an add med could make such a change Or i should say positive change I wasnt moody I stopped hitting my brother my teachers left good comments to my mom.The best part is I cant feel it stop working with adderal and focalin I could feel it go up and down all throughout the day.The focalin gave me tics throat clearing eye tic and at higher doses my checks would literally move I personally dont like any ritalin methylphenaldate meds I actually get to tired to do my work.Vyvanse does reduce my appitite i would not recomend to someone that is under weight. It is best to eat before or 20-30minutes after you take it so if this side effect is present you will have some food In your system.By far this is the best med ive tried. I am very educated on this medication in particular mostly due to the fact ive been on It since freshman year i am a junior now. I still havent developed a tolerance or a dependence of anykind. If your under ten years old i wouldnt start with anything higher than 30mg It may be overwhelming at first If you havent taken any stimulants before. It is the first pro drug stimulant. I started with 30mg It made a differance. Focused slight appitite loss nothing to bad i was already very skinny at the time bumped it up to 50mg my school work became less boring I became more reasonable and more content.I love to learn but im not a nerd i am me but I can get my work done and still have time to be with my freinds insted of frustrating hours of work i didnt understand. When I first started taking Vyvanse, it worked! It moved mountains. I was able to focus immediatly. This was how it was for the first 2 weeks. Then it immediatly did what it was supposed to, but it was not as effective for as long as it was supposed to. So i am going back tomorrow to the doctor to get a high dose, or i may switch meds.

When I 1st take it in the morning it helps me concentrate focus on boring activities and by 4 or 5 in the afternoon I start to get agitated. I have had some nausea, and dizziness and would not recommend taking 2 days off of the medicine because you can get very tired and have to eat more. It works for me for about 10 hrs.

I'VE BEEN ON THIS MED FOR 2 WEEKS AND IS WONDERFUL! IM ALMOST 43 YEARS OLD AND RECENTLY DIAGNOSED MYSELF WITH ADD, AFTER SPEAKING TO MY DOCTOR ABOUT AND BASED ON MOST POSITIVE REVIEWS ON THIS MED I REQUESTED IT AND ITS BEEN A LIFE CHANGING RESULT. I NO LONGER FEEL LAZY AND UNMOTIVATED, NO MORE PROCRASTINATION AND HAVE A MUCH PRODUCTIVE LIFE THANKS TO VYVANSE. REMEMBER, EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT RESULT ON IT, BUT DONT GO ON LIVING 50% OF YOUR LIFE WHEN IT CAN BE 100%. IF IT DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU DONT HESITATE TO KEEP ON SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING THAT WORKS. I THANK GOD FOR VYVANSE.Read More Read Less

The only problem i have had with this med. is I can't sleep for nothing. I mean 0 hours of sleep! I've been on it for 3 days and haven't sleep NONE! I've had dry mouth really bad also. It's like I can't get enough to drink. The plus is my mood is better and I don't eat. I could afford to loose a few pounds! LOL!

My son was prescribed this medicine by his peditrician and he was more irratable on it. We than went to a pyscatrist and he told us little ones have been known to not tolerate this drug well it makes them more irratable. He has now been prescribed Focalin XR 5 mgs because this has been know to do better in little ones. I am praying that this helps my son to have a "normal" life at home, with friends, and at school. One thing I remember from a therapist that I have seen for GAD was she told me that "there is no shoe that fits everyone, that is why there are so many different drugs out there". This saying has helped me during dark times where I have felt like we are never going to get things right. Good luck to all you people in finding your shoe that fits you.Read More Read Less

My son is 14 now and was diagnosed with ADHD in 2nd grade. We've tried different medications (Strattera, Focalin, Adderall) and they'd help for a while but the symptoms would eventually bleed through, even with increased dosage. He was not growing, gaining weight or sleeping at night. His doctor finally prescribed Vyvanse. We have still had a few increases in dosage, but he's finally having growth spurts and putting on more weight. He's also able to complete his homework and understand assignments. His appetite is better and the hyperactivity is better controlled, even late in the day. It also doesn't affect his sleep as much, although we occasionally do still need to supplement melatonin. No one therapy is right for every kid, but I'm thankful this works for him. *We do not take him off therapy in the summer, as his doctor feels it is best for the medication to be consistent and not "take breaks". We notice if he misses a day he'll seem more lethargic the next day when he resumes his medication.Read More Read Less
