Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

Been taking 40mg for about three weeks now and I feel like brand new man. I am able to deal with my day to day routine without coming unglued, beating myself up over stupid mistakes, or forgetting what I just read 2 seconds ago. Calm, focused, on task. Wish it lasted a little longer, my days start at 5am and end around 9pm. As long as I stay hydrated I have no side effects.

Overall,I must say this medication has changed my life. I felt a wonderful clarity of thought that I have never experienced in my adult life. It seemed to "lift the fog" in my brain. I was concerned in the beginning regarding a change of personality but my doctor assured me that I would still be "me", just a better "me". I now am able to easily access a portion of my brain that allows thoughts to flow smoothly rather than struggle to articulate just about any complete coherent thought in a normal conversation. My job performance has improved beyond my wildest expectation. I do have a question. While I have not had any negative side affects when taking vyvanse (30mg). If I go without a dose, I experience agitation and being overly tired. Has anyone else had a similar experience?Read More Read Less

No med used in ADHD has ever worked on me. Adderall worked better than the rest. I love this stuff. There are a few days that I don't feel it is working as well. I watch the things that I eat and drink and that does sometimes effct it. Not all ADHD people have the same systems.

I do well with Vyvanse but when i run out for a few days i feel like i need to sleep a lot. When i don't take it for a day i realize more distractions but if i were to not take it for a few days i come to find the first part of this pill to happen. After taking this for a few months and regularly i come to realize i control my anger not like it was too bad before but still. I could actually read a book or article still not too organized but thats my issue and i can remember better. Bad things? dry mouth, loosing weight if not aware of what i eat in a day, if i take it in the afternoon i don't get enough sleep (morning is best to take this pill), gained a twitch trying to control this. My eight year old daughter was recently diagnosed after two years of struggle. The past month of her using this medication has been so amazing! She has came leaps and bounds in school and socially. She has matured and gained so much self confidence. The combination of this medication and therapy has been our life savers! She is happy and productive and on her way to a bright future!

I was diagnosed with adult ADD about 3 years ago by a very astute and thorough Psychiatric N.P. and she placed me on Vyvanse. We started out slowly and worked our way up to the correct dosage that worked for me and it has changed my life in ways that I never dreamed. I spent years off/on trying to find out why and what caused my "frustrated depression". I had no reasons to ever feel that way. Finally, at the age of 49 I finally got diagnosed correctly and I'll never go back. I NEVER had any negative side effects on the Vyvanse and it helped me finally be who I KNEW I REALLY WAS and changed my work productivity, my relationships with others, my personal life to include home projects, etc.. I can concentrate, focus, and enjoy every thing I do. I can now also make clear and healthy MAJOR life decisions, now that I CAN finally see the "forest for the trees" so to speak. I realize it may not be for everyone, and I am not a pill-popper by nature, but this has saved me for the rest of my life. I am SO grateful. Now I can feel like it's great to be ME!Read More Read Less

It works pretty well, but I have to be VERY careful about avoiding other stimulants, like caffeine.

I have had no problems with this medication at all. It did what I have expected it to do. For the first week or so I felt a little "speeded up" during the day, but after a short time I adjusted. Just wish I didnt have to keep going back to get a new prescription every month because some other people abuse drugs like this one.

I've been taking for 1 year. Last week, I had major abdominal pain and went to ER. After a battery of tests - xrays, CT scan, etc. - and a Percoset pain killer, the pain gradually went away. But it took over 48 hours and the pain was incapacitating.

My 15 year old son was taking Adderall 25 mg. For no reason, his doctor switched him to 50 mg of Vyvanse. After 2 months he started telling me he felt like he was having a heart attack. He complained of chest pain, left arm pain, and pain in his jaw and on the roof of his mouth. He had also become very quiet and was easily agitated. We stopped this medication immediately.

my 7 year old son has been on vyvance for a year at first it was hard, lots of side effects like stomach cramps, cranky, had a neck twich and was seeing bugs everywhere but over time they have all almost gone away. he went from being so bad i couldn't even take him to the store he would tear things up to now he is a wonderful child. i feel like i can enjoy my child again. all meds have a different affect on all people but no matter what you try you have to give it time for your body to adjust it won't happen in a few days or even a few months it is a big change that takes time. my son has had very good results now that he has been on vyvance for a while after a few months i was ready to take him off it but stuck it out and the side effects have gotton much better. he does need something to help he sleep but we had that problem even before starting the meds. just keep tyring and give it time to work it's worth it.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication (40 mg.) for about 5 months in conjunction with Lexapro (40 mg.)and I think it's working pretty well. I seem to have more focus and I can move from task to task better than before. It is not a miracle drug!!! but it has helped. It is weird though, I can take my dose and literally sleep throughout the day. i have lost about 20 lbs. which I did want to do. Side effects, loss of appetite, lost of some libido

Used less than prescribed dosage for over two years. No blood tests ever taken to monitor increasing serious side effects. When admitted to ER with twice normal size upper arms had cpk of 60,000, high BP, and diagnosed wx Rhabdomyolysis! This is ONLY listed as side effect of overdosage by FDA, not a regular or underdosage side effect and NO WHEE does FDA recommend a doctor monitor cpk blood levels while patient is using Vyvanse as is done wx statin drugs. I reported this to FDA. This needs more study, more monitoring, more input from patients.Read More Read Less
