Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

Because it is a controlled substance when I recently switched doctors at the beginning of the year I got the leafing that he thought I was misusing the drug or did not need it. He did finally got my prescription through 3 weeks later. Thats why I gave it a 3, just because its expensive if you don't have insurance and you need to have your doctor fill out a form every year or more just to get the prescription through

My six year old started talking this about 3weeks ago. In the begining it was very hard for him, his mood changed he got very depressed because I think he know had focus and didn't know what to do with him self. After about the third day He is able to controll his emotions very well. He is doing so well in school and the improvement is unbelieveable.

I've been taking 20mg of Adderall RX for over 2 yrs. I found it to be effective at 10 mg, but had to gradually increased my dose, b/c I would crash/feel really tired and anxious after the 6th hr. My doctor kept increasing my dose so that its' effectiveness would last longer. It worked for maybe a few weeks and then I was back to where I was, except at a higher dose. My doctor recently switched me to Vyanse (50 mg = 20 mg of Adderall). Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about starting on 50 mg, b/c of the reviews and negative side effects that have been reported, especially it lasting longer than 10hrs. However, much to my surprise, the first week went much smoother than what previous people have posted. I didn't have stomach pains and I had no problems eating. I took it at 8:00 am and felt tired by 4 pm, though w/o the anxious feeling, as I tend to want to eat a lot to calm my nerves. Overall, I am really happy with Vyanse b/c I barely notice it in my system. In other words, it's smooth riding for 8 hrs, vs. feeling the 'highs' and 'lows' as one tends to experience on adderall. As for rating its' effectiveness, I give it 4 stars, b/c I don't get the sudden urgency, and hence feel motivated to do work (as with adderall). This is a 'pro' rather than a 'con' b/c I want to be motivated by my own free will rather than running on autopilot. Having said that, I think it's extremely important to use combine treatment - behavioral and cognitive therapy. Overall, medication has helped me to have less intrusive thoughts/fixation on minor details that use to frustrate/anger me to no end. I am happy now, less critical of myself and others, and more importantly, flexible to changes or events that may not go as I expected. About me: I am a 23yr old female, I am type A personality, and completing my last year of a master in applied science. Both medication and cognitive therapy has made all the difference.Read More Read Less

Vyvanse works great. I can concentrate on things I'm doing and I can actually finish them without jumping back and fourth from one thing to another. I do recommend talking with your doctor about adding another medication to take with Vyvanse such as Dextroamphetamine to increase the time line of which the medicine actually works.

My Dr Rx'd this for me because she thought it would help with my migraines. It didn't and produced horrible side effects. Couldn't eat much, became moody and agressive. The worst is the horrible joint pain I've developed about 2 months after starting the drug. I started in May 2010 and stopped taking it on Dec 6th and I STILL have the horrible pain. I've had all sorts of tests done and the Dr's can't find anything else wrong with me. I have no doubt it was caused by Vyvanse. My Dr. did not warn me that these these could have happened otherwise I never would have tried it.Read More Read Less

My concentration has improved dramatically. I can finally finish tasks that I have started. My anger is under control better than it has been my entire life. I have tried Adderall and Concerta, neither compares to this. I am taking 60 mg. The only problem that I experience is some difficulty sleeping at night and at the first of treatment some nausea, which passed after about two weeks. This has changed my life.

This medication has changed my life. I can now sit down and actually read an article or book and my thoughts are so much more organized and structured. My only complaint is that it seems to wear off before the end of the day. I am on the maximum dose so an increase in the medication is not the answer for it waaring off before the end of the day. Overall, I am extremely happy with this medication as it has enabled me to live a fairly normal productive life that was almost impossible without the medication.Read More Read Less

I was first prescribed concerta, and i really did not like it cause of the way it made me feel. it made me feel anti social and too focused on certain things. overall i wasnt satisfied. so i began using vyvanse, and i really like them. they help me focus, although not as well as other amphrtamines. but it aso gives me feelings of being social, and overall its side effects are not as strong as other drugs, the only thing is that i have trouble sleeping. but otherwise its great.

I have dealt with ADD for years. I am a college student and had to drop out bc I couldn't concentrate or remember anything from lectures. I decided to go back and wanted to be able to do so effectively. I talked to my dr, who first gave me Adderall 10 mg which did nothing. If I took 2 it gave me a little extra energy but no help with concentration and memory. I went back and got prescribed Vyvanse 30 mg and it's changed everything. I have energy instead of sleeping literally all day, I can concentrate and retain information I read. I have been having stomach cramps at night but I haven't been on it long enough to know if it's bc of the medication or not. As far as I'm concerned, it's worked well. But different strokes for different folks. Good luck!Read More Read Less

I just read a review asking if anyone else had encountered agitation and tiredness when skipping a dosage and I have. Before I started this medication I had trouble sleeping at night, and it helps with that A LOT, but once the medicine wears off I'm extremely edgy. I don't think my dosage is high enough though because it doesn't keep my mind from skipping off into lala land by any means it just makes me more snappy when I'm interrupted. My doctor told me it might help with my anxiety and depression, but it isn't so I'm thinking about trying herbal supplements for those. We are still working on my dosage and medications, but I drfinately want to switch from this one. BTW: never hungry anymore, when I eat I get sick.Read More Read Less

Started on 20mg and have moved up to 60mg. which is working wonderfully! I've always had trouble with depression and ADD. Once motivated to get up out of bed, take my pill and in thirty minutes it's meet the world time. Haven't had any side effects and can't praise this medication enough.

This is just my opinion and every ones body is different but this DID slow my adhd down but had crazy side effects. I was on the lowest dose of 30mg a day. My heart raced all day long, I started to stutter and had big gaps of memory loss. I started to forget how to spell and talk in complete sentences. Was on for 3 weeks and reviewed it with my doc and turns out it was to strong for me. now i will try adderall 5 mg.
