Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago when I was 28. I started on Adderall, but switched to Vyvanse because Adderall was making me hostile, paranoid, and at the end of the day when it wore off I would CRASH. So far I've been on Vyvanse for almost a year and I don't have any problems with it thus far. It's wearing off sooner than it used to, but I haven't changed the does the entire time I've taken it, or tried multiple doses daily. Overall, I love this med. It makes me feel like me again.

My mom started taking this medication and she immediately started acting out of control. Her anger was ridiculous and she lost all impulse control. Literally 2 days into starting the medication she would be gone until really late at night and started lying to everyone. She get an uncontrollable rage, talks to herself and sings to herself. All of these side effects happened directly after taking vyvance

I'm a 20 year old college student and I've been taking Vyvanse fo 2 months now. It did help me focus in school, but the only problem was it only lasts about 4 hours.(30mg)I have also lost a lot of weight. I am 5'4 and I was 120 when I first started taking it and about two weeks ago I was 110. Somedays(like today) I don't even feel the need to eat at all because I'm not hungry. I also HAVE to have water by me at ALL times, and it does make it hard to sleep at night. I will continue to take it, though, because it does help me in my classes.Read More Read Less

I took Vyvanse as an experiment for my doctor's office, after using Adderral for several years I became sick of that pill. Though now I am drug free and managing my ADHD I really enjoyed and recommend this treatment.

This is the first ADHD drug we have tried for our 7 year old son. Although it has done wonders for his attention in the classroom (he no longer runs around the class all day) and has helped him focus to turn his handwriting from nearly illegible to perfect, the side effects have caused us to stop the medicine. At baseline he is a very sweet, loving child, but on Vyvanse he becomes very anxious and almost paranoid. He is not redirectable and gets very emotional. His has insomnia, and will not fall asleep until after 1130 each night, and only in our bed because he is scared to be in his room. He also talks very fast and repeats himself when on Vyvanse.Read More Read Less

Our 11 yr old son began taking this in 5th grade. it helped a little with his focus issues but nothing that marked a huge improvement so his dosage was increased to the max of 30mg. The side effects that took place one by one and slowly were so subtle that we didn't realize until 9 months later and while he was off of the med because we ran out during winter break that it was the Vyvanse that was causing his anxiety, feeling of a presence in his room which caused his inability to sleep in his room and he transitioned into our bed. We also thought his moodiness was hormones and puberty, but found that as soon as the meds were completely gone from his system, he returned to being the sweet, loving son we'd always known. He's been off the meds for 6 months now and although there are some struggles with schoolwork, we've exchanged meds for a tutor and lots of love and support. Without the meds it's also much easier to reason with him to keep him on task and he's grown like a weed and is 1.5 inches taller and put on 10 lbs which he needed. The meds took away his appetite and for a tween who needs a higher caloric intake, this was a negative. If it weren't for the "whoops" of running out of the med, I don't know how long it would have taken to realize all the side effects add up. Good luck!Read More Read Less

It has helped somewhat in focusing when reading and taking test but not when the teacher is talking...still space out. At first it made me exteremly sick to my stomach...I lost 6lbs in a week but that has past. It does seem to make me very tired after about 6-8 hours when it starts whering off. It is suppose to last 12 to 15 hours, but really only helps me focus for appr. 6-8 hours than I get extremely tired but can't sleep cause still in my system. Overall not a bad experience but only has half life.Read More Read Less

My son who is 10 has been on this vyvanse for a year. Started at 20mg for a month no results went to 30mg he was more cooperative, happy with himself and focused. That lasted about 3-4 weeks. Since then we went to 40mg,50mg,60mg and now 70mg. It has helped him this school year greatly. However he is very emotional, reactive and sad. Low self esteem about himself constantly worries what everybody is thinking about him. He was taking the meds. mixed in juice because he didn't like swalloing capsule. They say you can do this but I'm not so sure about this. He has now started taking the capsule the last week has Headaches, Nausea, Not sleeping well at night and crying and not knowing why. i think we are stopping this med will either try something different or do counseling.Read More Read Less

Vyvanse worked great only down fall was that my pulse rate went through the roof, it is normally in the 90's bpm but from there to anywhere up to 124bpm and could feel heart pumping and i would have trouble breathing at times.

My son started taking this drug in 9th grade, to help him concentrate in school, against my wishes, he was taking only 10 mg a day, howver, he suffered migraine like headaches almost every day, lost 30 lbs, hasnt regained it, was very irritable after the daily crash feeling when it wears off, and I had to fight with him to stay away from it, he thought it helped him focus.

I took Vyvanse from 8th grade to 11th grade. It work extremely well. It did everything an ADHD medication should, but while on it I became depressed. I felt like life was no longer worth living and started to hurt myself. After my mom found out I was sent to talk to a psychologist and my doctor changed my medication to Concerta. I am happier on Concerta and proud to say I haven't hurt myself in over a year. But it doesn't work as well. Please take my experiences with this drug in concentration when you change your child's medication or are trying to pick which medication will help your child. If your child's behavior changes tell a doctor. And just because I did become depressed on Vyvanse does not mean your child will too. Each type of medications will have a different effect on different people. Just be aware of the side effects and be aware of your child's behavior and performances in school, sports and/or other activities. Read More Read Less

I used to take Concerta because I have ADHD and Concerta made me start to feel depressed have major mood swings. Once I started taking Vyvanse, things turned around for me and I felt a lot more motivated to work in school and less depressed.

DO, NOT, PUT, YOUR CHILD ON THIS MEDICATION. I'm 16, in high school, and ive been on this since 6th grade. (12 years old) Yes, it does help with grades. But the side effects will ravage your body and mind. Every day I feel upset, depressed, irratable, violent, angry, tired, lifeless, and extremely hostile. The first few hours are decent, and you feel great. but as you begin to come down, the effects are horrific. It is extremely addicting and now after taking it for 4 years, if i come off of it i feel even worse. DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH THIS.Read More Read Less

I am a 20 year old, engineering student and was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 6 years old. I have tried Ritalin and Concerta which both haven't worked. I have been taking Vyvanse for four years, give or take, and it has been wonderful. At school I feel totally focused, it just makes getting through the school day easier. I drive better, I study better. Its just a great drug. Only down side is that you can't fall asleep when you take it too late, but any ADHD meds I've taken have been like that.Read More Read Less

I do have a problem with this drug. My son who is 12 and has been on this med for over a year now just had his yearly eye exam and he went form a -75 to a -275. Now classified as legally blind. Two months prior he had a very strange episode that involved dialiated pupils, and possible seizures. I have a feeling it is this drug that is causing these side effects. We are now taking my son off of this medication and praying that his eye problem will reverse itself.

severe anger, extreme infuriation. short amount of time it actually worked (3 hours tops) became lazy. overlooked details. focused but very relaxed, just wanted to sit and hang out. became unfocused after having an angry episode every day it was taken. tense, anxious, irritated after as well. BIGGEST tease, felt like a million dollars just breathing to trashing my room in an angry paranoid fit.

I'm 16 and on this, I'm very withdrawn from my family and people at school when I take it. Depression is a recurring issue that I can't seem to get away from. I hate it... But without it I can't concentrate.
