Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My son started taking this medication 5/2011 and the first day I seen a big change in him, it no longer took us hours to do homework and the teachers noticed a difference without me telling them he was on meds. We don't take the meds on weekends or when school is out but I have seen a big difference in his grades and he can stay focused and complete his assignments.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5. At the time he wasn't able to focus or remain seated for more than 5 seconds. He would run around the room all the time, was defiant, and easily frustrated, and angry all the time. We tried behavior modification, dietary changes, and finally resulted to trying medication. We worked with our pediatrician to try different meds and finally found Vyvanse that was very effective. Now my son is able to focus and is so much happier because he no longer feels like everything is out of control. He is now 7 and has been doing great in school and able to focus the entire day. He does have trouble getting to sleep, but a consistant bed time and plenty of exercise help him with that. Read More Read Less

My son started kindergarden last year and his first two weeks of school were good but from then until Christmas last year were completely horrible. His teacher was on my speed dial and I spoke with her at least 3 times a week. I finally took to his doctor and she diagnosed him ADHD and started him on 20mg of Vyvanse. The first month it took him some time to adjust to the medication. He was having tummy aches, crying a few times at little things that would never usually bother him, and it did make him very sleepy in the beginning. Like every other medication it did have an effect on his appetite but if is something he likes he does pig out. But the difference after that month has made it well worth it!!! He can now do his homework without bouncing off the walls. He can sit and eat his dinner without getting up 30 times. He has been on Vyvanse for 10 months and he just had an adjustment up to 30 mg. We are 7 weeks into his 1st grade year and he has 4 A's and 1 B. If you can make it during the first few weeks of the side effects it is well worth it!!Read More Read Less

I'm 40 and have been taking an ADD drug for about 3 years. Adderal XR worked well but became expensive. Concerta made me VERY edgy. I'm happy with the Vyvanse. 30 mg dose. It doesn't last as long as Adderal but I have the gut aches I used to get. It's a trade off. I don't get that edgy spike either. I might ask for 40 mg next month, but I really want to stay on as low a dose as possible.

My doctor put my on a low dose which I thought would be fine since I was just starting out, which it is fine for about 4 hours and then it feels like I am crashing down which is not good especially if I am working in the salon, hoping he either increases the dose so maybe it will last the 9 hours a day I need it for or change my medication

I took adderall xr for three years and it gave me stomach aches that I didn't realize were caused by my meds until I switched to Vyvanse. When I needed to get a higher does of adderall the high does made me super grumpy. So my genius doctor switched my meds and now I can pay attention and I'm happy.

My son started taking this only a week ago and just got a 93.4% on a Chemistry Exam. He never test well, that was our reason for seeing the Dr. Amazing, he doesnt have any side effects. It's nice because of it's low dose's. He is taking 40mg a day and he is focused and doing good

Good med but joint pain is weird! They don't tell you its a side effect. So if your knee or neck or something all over is bad...know its Vyvance.

Vyvanse has produced great results for me! Everyone who gets headaches at the end of the day from vyvanse should drink a lot more water throughout the day! and make sure you are eating. A lot of water helps prevents the headaches for me!

As long as you use the Rx by itself you are fine. Do not use the drug with other otc allergy medication. Esp in young children.

My 10 year old son has been taking daily 20mg of Vyvanse for over 2 years. It was the 3rd ADHD med. we tried and it worked best for him. Dr. upped his dose to 30mg but after 1 month he developed a mouth /jaw tic that is still not gone after going back to 20 mg. He is very sensitive to any med. so I don't know where we can go from here as he is on a very low dose. It has helped him get through school.

In my late 20s-finally looked into my behavior and went for and was diagnosed with ADHD. Dr. started me on Vyvanse for its ability to "last all day". Well, started out at 30mg for 1 month, and just got bumped up to 40mg. (Dr. is seeing me monthly so that we can find the dosage right for me.) 30 mg only lasted about 4 and a half hours. Now at 40 mg, my attention is only about 5-ish hours. i have a feeling that we will be adjusting my prescription- at least until the medicine will last me all day. I have noticed that when my medicine kicks in, I can focus and be productive for several hours, then my attention span fades... Also, I have experienced the loss of appetite (I have to force my self to eat sometimes), i have dry mouth for the time my medicine does work, I get headaches on days I don't take my meds (like sometimes on the weekend-but when I take vyvance, the headache goes away), and my biggest side effect is my trouble getting to sleep. yet, once I get to sleep-i'm fine. Even though the side effects can be a pain, the medicine has really helped me concentrate to study and finish projects-which is the most important reason I began looking for medical insight, testing, and diagnosis for my varying ADHD symptoms. Overall, as soon as I get my dosage right for me, I will continue using it. My only concern is that in the next year or 2, my husband and I will want to start a family, and I'm not sure how this will affect us (my husband has many of the same ADHD symptoms as me- he is currently undergoing testing and if diagnosed, will be taking medication too).
