Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I am age 44 female. I started taking Vyvance for adult ADD. I also have Fibromyalgia and a history of tension migraines. The first week of taking the 50 mg., I thought I had found the miracle drug. I could focus, I had tons of energy, my usual brain fog was gone, and mood was improved. However, after the first week, I had a splitting headache. I thought I was going to die. I had a stabbing pain behind my eye that would not go away. I stayed on the drug for two more weeks hoping it would go away, but it would not. The only other side affect was my lack appetite. But I could deal with that. I was really upset that I had to stop taking Vyvance. It was really working for me other than the bad headaches. My doctor started me on Adderall. It just does not have the same effect as the Vyvance. Read More Read Less

My 7 yr old daughter was diagnosed with ADHD this school year. Her work has been suffering so as a nurse I decided to try her on medication. BIG mistake we first started with straterra and she started throwing up about 30min-1hr after taking the pill. So our doctor decided to put her on vyvanse 30mg. Her first dose was Saturday morning after it kicked in she started crying and then talking nonstop for about 8hrs. It is now 7:40pm on sunday night and she still hasnt been asleep yet. I dont know what to do her grades are suffering and I am afraid she is going to fail the 1st grade. Read More Read Less

I can think and focus again. Any side affects outweigh being able to function again. Do not take with Orange juice. I hardly notice any "side affects" anymore. I am either used to them, or my body has adjusted to them.

My son is 9 years old and this medication works well. He taked 60mg in the morning once a day. Therefore when he gets home its pretty much whorn off. Parents wants to bepend on this drug too much. You still have to work on your child behavior when this drug runs out. I have no problems with me son in regard of school or home. He comes home and do his homework and I also gives him extra.i love this drug hopefully he wont have to take it the rest of his life

My 9 year old son started on vyvanse 50mg about 7/10, after having taken focalin,& concerta (multiple strengths). He is now on vyvanse 60mg along with intuniv 3mg (stabilizer). Together they work the best for him (& us). He is a gifted student, but due to his behavior in school and home is extremely difficult to manage. We continue to have him in therapy. He continues to struggle, but he manages better now, than before. He did have nausea in the beginning, but he also did on the other meds. He has little or no appetite either, which is always a concern. One hurdle at a time! It is a daily challenge. Read More Read Less

I took it for 2 mos, on lowest dose. At first I couldn't speak clearly, slurred words a little, but mostly couldn't get the right words out. I would actually pause, stumble through some sounds, and still not be able to come up with the right words. I felt delayed and unable to speak, and embarrassed. I thought it would pass, hence 2 mos, but it did not. Also, although it made me not as hungry, I did not lose weight.

My 7year old son had bad reaction to this medication. He was always crying, nervous, scared. Disconnected always talking by himself. He took it for seven days, the last day he started to cry histerically and saying he was scared of monster inside his head. He kept repeating "stop stop stop" Very scary situation.

My 8 year old son has been taking Vyvanse for 2 years. He is currently on 60mg due to the meds not lasting through the day. He is moody and prone to crying spells daily. He is normally a very friendly and outgoing child, but is withdrawn and socially awkward in school. This medication is making him, for a lack of a better term, a zombie.

At first Vyvanse was really working for me, I am currently on 50mg, but now it slowly is not. The longer I have been taking it the worse I feel Im getting. I cant focus for more than a few hours and thats only right after It kicks in. My grades have been dropping, and my motivation is pretty much non existent. I feel moody sometimes, and get random episodes of sadness. I also seem to forget a lot that I do during the day, and talk about. I feel like my brain is a big blur. I mean it works for a short period of time, but thats pretty much all it did for me. I also lost a lot of weight, and have a difficult time sleeping. All in all this drug has not worked to me. My doctor is switching me to Focalin and I hope that brings me back to normal. Read More Read Less
