Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My child took this medication for a few months, it started off very well, but after a week, my child no longer had an appetite, and even the thought or smell of food made him sick. He began to loose weight, and his doctor said it was normal, my son was 7 and only weighed 49 lbs. That doesn't seem very normal, to purposely have a child loosing weight just because the doctor says it's ok. He is not on any med's right now and is in therapy. Vyvanse is a no no in my house..

My 11yr.son was making all F's in school. I was at school every day for his behavior. It was really bad. I didn"t want to put him on meds because I'm a recoverying addict and his father is too. This was not what I wanted to do,but I needed to do something,he was getting worst everyday. He started taking Vyvanse 20mg. and to my surprize his grades went to a B-C avg. He was paying attention 110%, BUT before he was really out going. Now he is shy, don"t want to go outside and play like boys should.Talks in a very low tone.Is he the only one or is this one of the side affects? HELP Read More Read Less

This drug worked awesome for me! One thing I really like is that it is extended release! So I wake up and take it and then can go right back to sleep. Since startin Vyvanse I have been less tired throughout the day and wake up at a decent hour instead of sleeping most of the day. My mood has improved a TON and I am so much happier. I am more motivated to get my school work done and procrastinate less. Another thing that is very good about this drug is that there is no street value so you dont have to worry about someone stealing your pills or anything. Read More Read Less

Very satisfied with this medicine for 3 years until it started effecting dd heart. She developed a long qt interval while on it. She was taken off and heartbeat returned to normal. She was put back on it again and was able to tolerate it for another year until it caused a fast heartbeat in her. She was taken off and her heart beat returned to normal. Put back on again after a brief break and immedcitely gave her fast heartbeat. She is off it now and we are looking at other medicines...but none have worked as well as this has for her in her school. Read More Read Less

At age 34 I was diagnosed with ADHD, and was treated with Ritalin for about 1 year, then was switched to Adderall, then Adderall XR, then back to Adderall. Most recently my doc suggested Vyvanse. Also, through all these changes I was on Effexor XR, and weaned off it about 6 months ago. Now I am taking 60 mg of Vyvanse each morning and my symptoms of ADHD are mild, however I am extremely irritable, and that feeling is terrible. I am snappy, short tempered and not happy, not good. My shildren and husband get the brunt of it... How can this be helped?Read More Read Less

5Yr. old son has been taking 20 MG for 10 months ( just turned 6). PRICELESS. It only lasts about 8 house and after school is still hard, but at least he is doing better in school. We went on a family trip last week and forgot and man he ate a lot ( as well as giving me a hard time every second) I had no idea how much his appetite had decreased on VYVANSE until he was off it a few days. It works if you are truly ADHD.

I am 32 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5. Originally, my mother and doctor had me on Dexedrine, and it made me sick. Then they had me on Ritalin, which I was on for a few years. My mother finally took me off of it because I wasn't growing...up or out. About a year ago, when I started college, I realized I was experiencing focus problems again, and my doctor finally prescribed me Vyvanse a little over a month ago. For the most part, I really like it. I have lost about 20 pounds in the last month and a half and my focus has increased greatly. What I don't like is that sometimes, while I am still waking up and waiting for it to kick in, I will get on one of my social network accounts and will get so focused that I end up not being able to switch my focus to my school work. I also don't like that since I started it, I don't feel the affects of it like I did when I first started. The only thing I am really concerned about is that my hair has been falling out more than what I am used to, and that's actually a whole lot. Does anyone know if this is normal?Read More Read Less

My doctor put me on Vyvanse a few months ago. It has changed my life. I have been in treatment for depression for over 7 years. Besides Effexor XR nothing has helped. Effexor got rid of my horrible sadness but I was never "happy". My therapist decided to try Vyvanse after discovering that I have a mild sleep disorder. For the first time in my life I actually look forward to tomorrow. I actually want to get out of bed and do things. I finally know what it feels like to be happy. I am on a very small dose of Vyvanse. 30mg and I don't plan to increase it. It's been 3 months and it's still going great. I have lost a little weight, 5 lbs at most. No complaints what so ever! It is very effective . However, my daughter developed several facial tics and needed to stop taking this. Th facial tics are extreme and involve her nose, eye brows, mouth and neck...They started lost immediately and got worse as the week went on. We stopped 2 weeks ago, she still has some tics but not nearly as much as she did when she was taking this. I jet hope the tics go away completely!! Tics were definitely caused by this medication.

My 7.5 y.o. son has been on this medication for a year now and we are slowly weaning him onto Strattera instead. While Vyvanse gave him a marked improvement in his ability to focus at school (his teachers couldn't believe the positive change) and calmed him down, it took away his appetite and made it difficult for him to sleep. But the biggest downside was to his personality. He had always been such a happy, smiley kid but on this med, he became introverted and shy, which makes me very sad for him. He also hasn't seemed to have grown much in the last year. Hopefully Strattera will be a better fit for him, though I know it comes with its own set of possible side effects. I would like to add to the reviewers here: If a med like Vyvanse/Ritalin/Adderall/Concerta (they're all the same) doesn't help your "ADD/ADHD", that is probably the wrong diagnosis for you. If you truly have ADD or ADHD, these meds will absolutely help. If they don't, see your doctor for other possible causes for your symptoms. Be well!Read More Read Less

I wish I could give this drug 0 starts. I had the worst anxiety on this medication. I could not sleep at night sometimes for days. I became paronoid and hypoglcemic. I do not understand why any doctor would give this medication to a child. I have been off this medication for a little over a year. I could not focus on Vyvanse and only felt hyper and out of control.

No more ritalin jitters, searches for adderall at every pharmacy in town and best of all no HIGH feeling -> vyvanse is me, only without the lack of focus and the sudden urge to pass out during the day.

About 5 to 6 years ago I was told I had bipolar, so fun wow!! Then in Nov of last year I was also told I had ADHD. Wow go thirty some years and never been told that. Alright when I was first told the ADHD I was put on Vyvanse and the my insurance would not approve of it because I never tried anything else. Well So I went a few months trying other ADHD medicine and nothing worked as well as the Vyvanse. So I am finally back on it and I love it. It does cost a bit, but it is well worth it.
