Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

30 mgs did not work. 50 mgs, much better focus on school work, but edgy and easily upset.

My son is 5, we have been trying different doses of Vyvanse 20mg and 30mg. He seems easily irritable, and overall does not look like the happy child he once was. I'm trying to give it a fair chance that maybe his mood will change. He does seem to be able to focaus on tasks longer than before, but otherwise he has NO appetite, seems unhappy, and is very tearful. It's hard to watch him go through this. :'(

I have a 13 y/0 who has been on 30 mg for 3 years. It worked great for him with no bad side effects except loss of appetite during the day. He will eat breakfast, take the med, then eat a small lunch. Usually eats a good dinner and then we are sure he has a snack before bed time to make up for the small lunch. Grades improved, homework is easier, he is so much happier from not being in trouble all the time.

I've tried Ritalin, Adderall, and Concerta -- Vyvanse has been the most effective for me. I take it 2x a day. I've never been more focused or more productive at work. Honestly, it has changed my life. It took a while to get the right medication/dosage for depression to be in harmony with the Vyvanse, but it's been consistent now for over a year and I've never been better.

Started taking this my fifth semester in college, and up 'til now I had an extremely hard time focusing and would not be able to stop fidgeting. I was started on 30mg, which worked but would only last 5-6 hours for me. Since then have been bumped up to 70mg and have had no issues past the first 4-5 days. No more sleepless nights, able to focus the whole night, no more fidgeting, can focus on what people are saying and finally was able to pick clarinet and violin back up. Only side effect I've noticed is irritability if I accidentally skip a dose.Read More Read Less

My 13yr old son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 8. I was hesitant to start him on any medications in fear of dependency or side affects, but after years of therapy and no improvement in his grades and behavior his therapist suggested Vyvanse. He has been taking 40 mgs for the past two years and it works great. The only issue I have is when the medication wears off or on weekends and holidays I don't give him the meds he becomes very aggressive. Other than that the medication is the best option for him.Read More Read Less

My 8 yr old son has been diagnosed with ADHD severe, Anxiety, ODD and Post-traumatic stress, after we had a rollover were my husband lost his lifeat the the time he was about 3.5 yrs. We went to therapy were he was diagnosed and first started with the Daytrana patch. It worked for about 2 yrs but and in 1st grade it stop working that year school was horrible every morning crying, didnt finish assigments and would even refuse to work, he was bumped to 2nd grade but his learning level was kinder. In 1st grade we tried aderall which I disliked immediately he was so doped up he was a like a zombie, Concentra didnt work at all. Finally in Second grade he was prescribed Vyvanse and Innutiv. Started with 40 mg for a few months and by the end of second grade he was on 50mg in the morning with Innutiv i the afternon to extend it. It has worked wonderfully. He works at school, no more crying in the morning, he does his homework with out complain or crying and desnt take hours to do one assigments. He know enjoys reading which was his hardest thing for him to focus on. Last school year he felt and said he was dumb and hated school he actually lost some friends cause of his behavior. He was and still very social and his appetite actually increased. I do give him breaks but only as my choice. I hope this medicine continues to work this great for my son.Read More Read Less

This medication works great when it's running, but after it wears off I get extremely sleepy and have a hard time functioning. I also have trouble sleeping at night, and have chronic nausea.

In 8th grade, I was diagnosed with ADD. I was first put on Adderall, which made me feel completely doped up. A year later, my doctor switched me to Vyvanse and I immediately felt the difference. I have now been taking Vyvanse for about six years with only increasing my dosage once. It hasn't been until recently that I notice some of the less common side effects (dry mouth, rapid heartbeat, sweating, headaches, mood swings/irritability). I have also noticed instead of the medication controlling fidgeting, I now constantly move my hands or shake my leg. Vyvanse is great for the first few years, but after prolonged use you start to feel doped up and don't want to take it. I hope this helps!Read More Read Less

I feel great on this medicine. When the first of the month comes I actually get happy because I know I will be clear and not sleepy. My only concern is feeling like it wears off to soon and if I run out,I am more exausted than ever.
