Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I have add without hyper activity. I had been on Ritalin from an early age then stopped in high school. it wasn't until my late twenties did I get back on the meds to increase my performance at work. I have tried Adderall and concerta with not very good results. I was very skeptical when my doctor mentioned trying vyvanse. he started me at 30mg and I could tell a big difference in my drive and being able to follow tasks to completion. I did however feel a lot of anxiety at first as well as a 3pm crash. when I went back, he increased me to 50mg and a lot of anxiety and the crash went back to about 5:30, which is fine for me as I usually take my meds at 5am. I now run a large company with 100+ employees, which requires every bit of my attention. vyvanse has been key in my ability to work at full capacity. Read More Read Less

Started on 20mg for a month then increased to 40mg/daily, became very agitated and angry in evening. Which was not delightful for my family! And not like me - I have a happy, go easy type of personality, but became very very angry, slamming doors and verbally abusive. Finally realized it must be the medication, I will not take this any longer. Almost caused a divorce. My life was better without out!

My niece is 10 yrs old and was taking 1 mg Intuniv and 80 mg strattera for 2 years, but got little results. She could not focus in school and her appetite decreased. She started taking 30 mg Vyvanse about 3 months ago and her appetite remained the same, but her teachers immediately notice a difference in her focus. Her grades went from F's to A's and B's. Since then we have eliminated the Strattera which did absolutely nothing, but she still takes the 1 mg Intuniv to extend the effects. However, the Vyvanse do wear off late in the evening and she doesn't get as sleepy as she use to. I do like thought that she doesn't fall asleep in class anymore. However, once she falls to sleep, she sleeps very well due to the Intuniv. I tried eliminating the Intuniv, but the two seems to work well together rather than alone. The only thing I don't like is having to call in every month to request her doctor mail me the prescription...this is the only way I can get it unless I go to the doctor's office and pick it up. Also, I wish it didn't affect her appetite so much, she is very tiny, but her doctor says not to worry about it. I just make sure she takes her vitamins and omega 3 which also helps her. She takes the 2-4 Disney Omega 3 gummies a day...taste great. She do tend to get emotional very easily, but that's where I come in and keep her spirit uplifted by doing something fun and interesting with her. Read More Read Less

My daughter is a & year old child living with PDD-NOS along with ADHD. This medication was given by her Neurologist to help her focus in school. My daughter would take the medication after eating breakfast. It helped for a little while, but by the time the afternoon arrived she was a mess. She would cry uncontrollably. Her echolalia got worse. She made life difficult for us, her teachers & therapist. One day my husband forgot to give it to her & she was a pleasure to be around. We decided to not let her take it for a 2nd day. I brought her to her occupational therapist, and she asked me what we changed because she was not difficult at all. No retaliation... a totally different child. Very cooperative. From there, we decided to discontinue giving her the Vyvanse & notified the doctor. This medication did not work for our daughter. For us it became more of a burden than a help. I wish everyone good luck who take Vyvanse & if it helped you than you were some of the fortunate ones whose body chemistry agreed with this medication.Read More Read Less

I'm 15 and I've been taking vyvanse for my ADD for a couple months now. The upside to vyvanse is that it doesn't cause as much anxiety or nausea as other medications for ADD. My biggest complaint is that it wears off quickly. Usually I stop feeling it's effects by four p.m.-ish, which does not help me with homework at all. Unless you have an opportunity to do most of your homework during the school day (study hall, etc.)your homework is going to take a LONG time when yo get home from school. My other complaint is that it makes me sweat like crazy. However, it's a pretty good medication overall. It keeps my thoughts on track and does a surprisingly good job of controlling hyperactivity without making me feel sluggish!Read More Read Less

my son is 6yrs old and he takes it in the morning before going to school. before he would act out and would not do as told and he is very hyper. on the medicine he is calm, he thinks before doing anything and he listens. I have noticed that he gets a little warm when he takes it but that is the only side effect he has so far but he has only been on the pill for about a month and i only give it to him when i can tell that he is going to have a bad day.

The first week or so was great! I was more focused and was able to finish tasks. I even lost a few pounds. I thought this was the answer for me. Almost two months later I became lost, scattered, irrational, and an emotional mess. I also started having severe anxiety attacks followed by what I thought was a heart attack!! I have been off for two days and this is the worst feeling I have ever had! This is the worst drug. Please be careful. (Started at 50 mgs-too much, switched to 2 doses at 30 mgs) Read More Read Less

12 yr old son dx with ADHD. Had been on Focalin XR but due to decrease in wt his MD put him on Vyvanse. On this medication for 3 days at 20mg. Noted excessive taliking, defiant behavior, increase aggression and anxiety, increase crying and argumentative. Changed him totally with 3 doses. Did not notice a change in eating which was why medication was changed to this. This medication does not work for my son. Appointment tomorrow to discuss side effects from this medication.

Please do not give your children this medication. My daughter had been on this medication for 2 years. Everything had been going great, she was focsuing at school, doing really well! Almost one month ago she woke up and had some serious side effects. She was having delusions, hallucinations, fast heart rate and a psychotic episode. She was hospitalized for one week due to the side effects of this medication. She couldn't remember how to take a shower, eat, get dressed. She had rapid speech, repeating everything, nonsense words. She was anxious and paranoid. This literally all happenned over 24 hours. Please stayaway from stimulant ADHD drugs. Your child's life is not worth it!Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for about 2 weeks and I have noticed a considerable difference over Adderall and Concerta. Unlike her previous 2 medications I have taking,Vyvanse more sociable and a lot less irritable and moody.

I took Vyvanse for about 6 months and I have to say it was good and bad!It worked great (sometimes)!! But the side effects was awful! It made me very paranoid, like someone was always out to get me. I would just stare off into space thinking about weird things. And when I was taking it I didn't realize what it was doing to me till I stopped taking it. It was the main loss of my job! Yeah, thats how bad the side effects was and how weird it made me!I liked it cause I would eat when I was taking it but when i took Adderall I wouldn't eat. But here is the twist! I would eat like a cow but I was losing weight like Crazy!! I'm already a skinny person, but when I went form 110 lbs to 90lbs I decided I needed to stop taking it! I do NOT recommend for anyone to take this drug. I told my sister in law what it did to me but she decided to try it anyway, well guess what! The same thing happened to her! Read More Read Less

Vyvanse is the best. The only downfall is the cost. I have to change my meds now cause I cant afford it. All other brands make me very moody and abusive to others. Please take the cost down.
