Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

My 7 year old son just started taking this med about a week ago. I am very happy with it at this time. Not many of the meds out there has not been use full with him in the past. The first day I gave him the 20mg pill I did not have much hope in it, but after 2 hours he was doing good.

I started the med in 2011. My life seemed amazing. I could concentrate at work, and had energy out the roof. I slept good and woke refreshed. Downside is that I became immune to it very fast and had to keep increasing my dose. I ended up taking 1 40 mg & 1 60 mg daily. My insurance covered the 2 prescriptions, but I also had 2 copays. I finally realized it was not working as well as it should. My doctor put me on Concerta. I did not like it. I was dizzy and my mood was awful and I was tired all the time. I did lose over 70 pounds on Vyvanse, which was a huge benefit. I was never hungry and always was on the go. I always had a perfect complexion, Vyvanse made me break out BAD! I had huge zits on my face like a teenager to the point of scarring. I also feel it caused my divorce. My mood changed so much, and yet it gave me the insight to see I was miserable for many years. I had the guts to finally tell my husband I was done in the marriage and he needed to find someone more suited for him. I was a hermit before I started taking this. I worked 60 hours a week and never went anywhere further than the grocery store. I now love to travel and met someone who fits my personality. I did gain about 35 pounds back after I had been on it over a year. Some of the weight gain is my own fault, but my appetite came back and my metabolism has slowed. I had experienced some high blood pressure on it, but it is now normal and the EKG was perfect. I am hoping the 1 month off of it makes it work better since I gained such an immunity to it. The other side effect I have had is a very bad headache around 2:00 pm and feeling blah. I find I was drinking Monster & 5 hour shots way too much. I can say that I also became moody before my divorce. I would get angry for no good reason. The anger helped me get through my divorce & made my ex glad to get rid of me! My advice: if your friends & family say your mood has changed for the worse, believe them and step back and take a look at your life.Read More Read Less

38 year old female, started taking this 2 months ago am now one 90mg a day, I take 60mg in the morning and at 2pm take 30mg which helps with those mood swings This medication has changed my life for the better, work gets done, home is getting organized and I feel so much better regret no getting treatment for ADHD when I was first diagnosed in 2006. I almost kissed my dr for giving me this medicine my life has changed so much. Thank You.

I have been using this medication for 3 weeks and my life has changed. I'm an Adult with ADD. Work had become very difficult for me to focus and I found myself doodling some days. I'm now able to complete task at home as well. I've tried other ADD medicines but this is great. Sometimes throught the day I have to stop and say wow. I really don't feel like I'm on medication but my life is so much better.

I thought vyvanse was great, but I noticed hives on my hands initially and disregarded the reaction. It wasn't until I had hives (large) all over my face, severe dry eye, for a month, I realized I was having a reaction to the drug. My own physician did not relate the hives to the drug. I had to figure it out myself after spending hundreds of dollars on copays to the eye doctor and revisits to my doctor. I think the product works, but for me, I had a horrible reaction. Good luck to those able to take the drug without side effects. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this drug for a couple of weeks. At first, the side effects and positive effects are immense. My brain was able to pick up anything at anytime, I never had this ability before. Whenever I walk to school, I would notice the flowers, sidewalk, other people, rather than just be hidden in my own cloud. School definately has become easier. I now focus in class, get things that need to be done in class and even finish my homework in class. Unfortunately, the side effects are concerning, for example, when I started, I was very easily irritated, however, I learned how to get it under control. Hunger is an issue, because if I don't eat for a day, and then take a test, not even a drug could help with that. Even more concerning, when I started taking 60mg, I felt like I wanted to smash a window, run outside for an hour while doing homework. It's really strange, I want to be active, but at the same time I want to do homework. I also would shake alot. As if my pulse was shaking my entire body. But I believe my attention span is longer, my friends actually seem to enjoy hanging out with me and my grade is recovering. I like vyvance, it does help.Read More Read Less

Ive been taking Vyvanse for about 2 years. Was initially prescribed 30 mg/day which worked for a while. Now I'm prescribed 70 mg/day. My side effects are dry mouth & decreased appetite. It controls my hyperactivity and racing thoughts more gradually in a 6 to 8 hour period, much better than other similar meds I've been prescribed in the past, most of which the dose is 2 - 3 times per day.

I started having Raynaud's syndrome and didn't make the comnection that it may be the Vyvanse I had just started that month. I've never had it before. It was triggered more by pressure on my hands, not cold. My hands and feet have been cold for months. Several months after my hands were affected by Raynaud's it began spreading to my left foot. I've stopped the Vyvanse and all seems well now.

Vyvanse has really changed my life. I struggled with ADHD for years before finally breaking down and giving medicine a try. Here's a brief breakdown of the pros and cons. Pros: - Increased focus and motivation - Relatively long-lasting; my 50mg dose usually lasts about 8 hours - Makes me more outgoing and social - Puts you in a good mood - Really controls my hyperactivity and general inattention Cons: - Dry mouth - Once it wears off my mood will shift for about an hour. I'll go from being extremely happy to kind of apathetic. It usually lasts about an hour or less - Zero appetite; I'll go all day without wanting to eat - I only have issues with insomnia if I take it after 11 am - For the first hour I do sweat and get hot easily Overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons for me. I also noticed that the side effects were more severe in the first month of treatment, but they've since gotten better.Read More Read Less
