Vyvanse is a new drug on the market the is very similair to Adderall XR. Like any ADHD medication, this drug does raise one's heart rate and will have an affect on one's stomach. Something that I do is open up the capsule and pour the contents into apple sauce. The mixture of the food and the medication makes it a lot easier on the stomach. The common misconception is that you need the capsule, bu...

Story: I had taken 20MGs Vyvanse as a kid for ADHD, it worked great and soon I was the smartest kid in my whole class, eventually it just stopped working around middle school so I stopped taking it, and my grades went back down to being barely passing. Sophomore year in Highschool, I decided to try it again because I was failing all my classes because I could never stay focused in class, I asked m...

I have adult ADD. Prior to taking Vyvanse, I would have trouble focusing which would then turn into over sleeping, frustration, and anger. I take Vyvanse with a really good multi vitamin and have the focus and energy that I need throughout the day. Vyvanse is a stimulant so I still do not sleep as much as some people but I get a solid 6 hours per night. What I would recommend is to take it in the morning with breakfast or at least a protein shake so that there is something on your stomach with it. Read More Read Less

My 15 yr old daughter was prescribed Vyvanse. After 2 months on it, her hair thinned out. 1 month later she was completely bald. We spent thousands of dollars on doctor visits, injections, blood work, labs, specialists. Everything was negative. We realized that Vyvanse was the only change she had in her life. I searched online and located NUMEROUS posts regarding the exact same time frame of total hair loss by other people. She was taken off the medication. Within 1 month of being off Vyvanse, her hair is about an inch long all over! Total hair loss is not listed on the side effects of this medication. With that many people experiencing this, it needs to be. Even the doctor did not believe it was the cause until we stopped the meds and she saw the results. For a teenage girl, better focus does not benefit total hair loss and the detrimental actions from other teenagers towards them because of it. She has been on an anti depressant for 6 months because of the hair loss. Read More Read Less

I gave Vyvanse the highest rating possible because in conjunction with Pristiq 150mg and Abilify 15mg it helps me with my Depression. I have been on this for almost 2 years but really noticed how well it has helped me when I stopped taking it for financial reasons for over a month. When I got patient assistance to help with the costs, I started taking it again and within 2 days I felt much better.

I was 59 years old when the diagnosis was first suggested to me by my therapist, and I was evaluated by a psychiatrist. I started on a low dose (30 mg) and was quite impressed. Prior to the medication I always felt as though I lived within a snow globe that was constantly agitated. Every speck of glitter was some vital issue or responsibility only I could address effectively. Sleeping was something I could do only if exhausted and then only for short (3hours or less) time frames. Within the first 30 days I felt as though the snow globe been stabilized, and I could pick and choose what issues I wanted to address. My ability to sleep more than just a couple of hours improved, as did the quality of sleep. My vital signs improved with a the systolic blood pressure having been 130-160 to being 110-130, and my heart rate stabilized in the 60to70 bpm range. With this report to the psychiatrist the dose was raised to 40mg per day. I am better able to focus on the multiple tasks associated with work, my doctoral program, and volunteer project. I am better able to set boundaries, and to feel comfortable saying "no" when appropriate. My single complaint is in not having been diagnosed and treated many years ago.Read More Read Less

Ive been on vyvanse for over a year and honestly feel like its changed my life. I saw a dramatic increase in my grades because I'm able to focus on one task at a time , rather than feeling scatter brained all the time. So happy with the improvements however, I did lose weight due to a loss of appetite,it makes me irritable, I have some difficulty(despite me taking it at 7am),it increases my heart rate at times and i also experience chest pain. I feel like I'm beginning to experience some depression. The days I don't take the medication I'm definitely more hyper but I also feel happier. Despite the side effects, as a college student trying to better my life, the benefits out weigh the symptoms. So grateful for my increased ability to focus, learn and get good grades.Read More Read Less

My son was on Concerta and it worked very well for about 5yrs and then was in effective. His dr switched him to Vyvanse and it seemed to work at first but not a well as the Concerta so he upped the dosage. At 70mg 1x daily my son started becoming very irritable, depressed, suicidal tendencies, pulling his hair and eye lashed out, bad mood swings, aggression and major failing grades. I took him to another dr for a second opinion. They said he over medicated and lowered the dosage to 50mg. He was still having focusing problems but the other issues seemed to disappear. They recently raised the dosage to 60mg and the issues are reappearing. I was talking with a friend that her son tried Vyvanse and came home from school one day literally banging his head, screaming and crying because of the way the meds made him feel. I do not like this medication at all!!! My son has NEVER been like this. He is usually a kind and loving person. Making an apt ASAP to get him off of this medication.Read More Read Less

Vyvanse has very effective at managing my adhd, but ive reently been upped to 75mg ccapsules and im having absolutely rippling stomach pain and nausea. I have tested the idea that it was the 15mg increase from my previous 60mg dose extensively. I don't know why its causing such pain at this dosage, but I hope to find a more suitable dosage.

I have taken Vyvanse (capsule, 50 mg) for at least a couple years, and it has and still does work effectively for me. However, over the last few months, I've noticed a disturbing pattern of new side effects that I have never had before whenever I take it: Depression, mood swings, quick to anger/frustration, SEVERE anxiety, lack of energy and stamina (for example, even if I sleep for 10 hrs every night, I still wake up feeling exhausted). I'm in college, and this is seriously interfering with my life. Does Vyvanse help me focus in my classes? Yes, without a doubt. But it's not worth the crushing feeling of worrying about anything and everything, whether it's important or not. Read More Read Less

My 10year old son is being treated for ADD with 40mg of Vyvance. The doctor told me his dosage needed to go up since the 30mg was not working anymore my son told us. Okay, the 30mg caused him to not want to eat for 8hours (his weight is only 60lbs to begin with). I was concerned that a higher dose of Vyvance would cause him to loss weight (His weight gain was slowed down significantly anyway!) Now, the 40mg dose for a 10 year old, 60 lb child had caused him to not eat from the time I drop him off at school, til the time I pick him up at his afterschool program...10 hours later. As a single parent, my job takes my away many hours a day. I am discontinuing the Vyvance so my child will eat and thus be able to learn and function in school! I am temporarily having him take Sudifed for his ADD and runny nose. Help find a drug that does not cause weight loss/apatite reduction!Read More Read Less

Prior to being prescribed Vyvanse I suffered from extreme ADD. I could not focus on the simplest of tasks. I would zone out to the point of embarrassment where people would be waving hands in front of my face to get me to snap back. I was constantly forgetting everything which led to all sorts of problems. I then started Vyvanse. Vyvanse has solved all of these problems. I am able to focus and stay motivated and keep from zoning out. My only problem is that if I forget to eat during the day (and Vyvanse does seriously kill my appetite) by the time it wears off I am absolutely miserable with nausea and headaches. Also try and to take it as early as possible so you're not up all night. Read More Read Less
