I had the medicine on Tuesday and by 5 pm l had severe chills joint pain and bone pain. Headache and l am having severe pain hardly able to move around the first 3 days.. l am in so much pain by 5 th day my fingers even hurt so scarey my chest ribcage hurt so bad.. l wish l never took this or read the reviews, if it’s like most other people l know l destroyed my life.. because l was a very active working woman.. why do you still give this to the people if there’s other alternatives available

Agreeing to get the Reclast infusion as highly recommended by my rheumatologist was the WORST DECISION I have ever made!!! It has been 2 weeks as of today and here are the series of side effects I have and did experience. Flu-like symptoms after 24 hours lasted for 2 days 5 days after the infusion, major allergic reaction, hands, knees, legs and feel double the size. Had to go to Urgent Care and had to get on Prednisone for 6 days Severe pain and stiffness the day after completed Prednisone. Continued major stiffness in neck, wrists, knees and lower back. I met a very knowledgeable Urgent Care doc who agreed, Reclast and similar drugs are NOT the answer. He suggested Bio-identical hormones as Reclast will not grow bone but arrests where the osteoporosis is currently. FYI, usually Bio-Identical doctors do NOT take insurance so if funds are an issue, this may not be an option for a lot of folks unfortunately. Had the infusion late afternoon. That night had very high fever with extreme and server body PAIN. Moving one inch exasperated the pain. Ran fever with chills for 4 weeks, server headaches and eye pain. Could hardly get out of bed because of complete exhaustion causing me to sleep most of the time. Bladder infection, muscle aches and now even 7 weeks later my knees are very painful. I was supposed to get the infusion twice a year but insurance decided they would prefer to pay for yearly Reclast. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GET RECLAST INFUSION!!! Like so many others I tried this medication based on my doctors recommendation - The infusion itself was not an issue - I followed all directions and had no issue until about 3 months after when the joint pain made it harder and harder to workout - Hands, knees, back shoulder all painful - I then began to read more of these experiences and how long this stuff stays around. I will never do another one but I am 9 months out now and the pain is still there. Sorry I chose to do this

Had an infusion 3 yrs ago and have had pain from acheilies tendon 24/7 since. The first Dr I went to put me in a boot on each foot and wore one for 8 weeks and it healed. The right foot I wore after for 4 weeks but not getting better. . I went to a second Dr, told me to keep wearing the boot but he also took exhaust but nothing negative showed which meant it is tendon damage and could have been from reclast due to other patients claiming same damage. The pain starts at base of foot to my calf and even wakes me at night. Tendon swells double the size. I never had anything like this before reclast. Hope it is taken off the market soon. Fourteen hours after infusion, I started having flu like symptoms with a fever for 48 hours. On the third day I had a red rash on my upper body. Apparently I am allergic to this medication.

Severe muscle and bone pain goin and hip pain am on the third month of this side effects

I received my first Reclast infusion last week. My prior bone scan showed a decrease in bone compared to 2 years ago and osteopenia worsened. I was not told to hydrate in advance but was told after the treatment to drink lots of water. I have had zero side effects. Thank you God . Hope it helps.

I received infusion and 3 weeks later am suffering serious side effects. I had high fevers and bone pain for about a week then low grade fevers, headache and my newest terrible side effect is my swollen eyes. This is a dangerous drug.

First of all .. My Doctor never told me to hydrate or take Tylenol. So I didn’t do either. I had this done at 9:00 in the morning and felt great all day . Around 11:00 that night , out of nowhere I got all dizzy and thought I was going to pass out . I had to lay down. I thought I was having a heart attack! My chest was tight and I was getting a shooing pain up my arm. Finally I fell asleep . The next day I was sluggish. The second night I started with bad chills and bones aching . I have had my 4th treatment of Recast and my hair is still falling out. I’ve gained weight which is crazy because I’ve always had about the same weight 5 lbs more or less my whole life. I’m always tired no energy which is not me. I’m afraid if I keep taking this drug I’m going to be very sad. My hair is my most important issue. Has anyone lost hair from this treatment

I had the Reclast infusion on Friday. I felt fine all day Friday. Saturday morning I woke up with 101 fever and felt achy all over. Sunday no fever but still kind of fatigued. Monday a slight headache, today is Tuesday and I feel pretty good. I started hydrating two days prior, drank a TON on the day before and did the 16+ ounces in the morning prior to the infusion. I'm still trying to keep hydrating.

I wanted to share a positive report on Reclast. I did all the recommended preparations of 64 ounces of fluids the day prior, 32 ounces of fluids and Tylenol before the infusion, and I have had no side effects from the treatment at all. I am a person very sensitive to medications, so I was prepared for the worst. I was so relieved it went well, and I want to share to encourage others to please follow the protocol and this drug might work well for you also.

It was the worst experience of my entire life! I am alive because of the grace of God and a decent ER doctor. This medicine should be outlawed! I received an infusion of reclast at about 12 noon on 04012016 and if my sister hadn't called me that day and took me to the ER I would have laid in my bed and died, the side effects have lasted for years, and even my heart was affected. My bone and joint pain doubled and and the ignorant Dr. I was sent to wanted the give me steroid shots!

I only had one infusion. I don't know if my bones are stronger yet. I didn't know I was supposed to have any side effects. I didn't know I was supposed to super hydrate or anything. I went in and had the infusion and then went to work. I never had any issues. I will have a second infusion in a couple of months. I guess I'll super hydrate before I go instead of drinking a cup of coffee. But I still won't expect any problems.

I took Reclast for three years and had no problems. After my fourth infusion, I began getting severe headaches every day all day. I didn’t know why. They went away about 11 months later. I got another, my fifth Reclast infusion and the very next day I got severe headaches again. Saw a neurologist who believes the Reclast is causing my daily migraines. I am on two different meds for the migraines, but still get some headaches. I don’t recommend anyone taking this more than three years. My life now revolves around trying to live with debilitating headaches until medicine is out of my system. Hopefully the Reclast hasn’t caused permanent damage.Read More Read Less

October 2023 was my first infusion It took about 20 minutes once the drip started. That evening, my jaw started aching and that was followed by every other bone in my body aching for less than 24 hr. It was a general flu like feeling. I had taken Tylenol at tree time of the procedure and the next day. Two days later, I felt normal. Two days ago, I had a second Reclast infusion. I took Tylenol and the drip was timed for about 40 minutes to attempt to minimize side effects. Something worked in my favor as I did not have notable unwanted side effects.Read More Read Less

I was so scared to take this drug, I arrived at the infusion center crying. Nurses assured me it is very well tolerated, and of all the drugs they administer this is their favorite for that reason. Wondering if only bad reactions are recorded here or if they don’t hear about bad reactions after infusions. I was prescribed reclast after osteoporosis caused by hyperparathyroidism. I’m 48 and I was told at the infusion center that I was the youngest person they have administered this drug to. Day of infusion was fine. I read this thread morning of and took Claritin and Tylenol only about an hour before. Hydrated day of only. Right on schedule, early next day I woke up and felt like I was in an accident. All the symptoms. Headache, nausea, fever, body aches, stomach ache and chest pain. The chest pain scared me so I took myself to ER. Fever and vomiting at ER. I was given a IV of fluids, nausea meds and ibuprophen. They informed me at er that sometimes stomach pain in women, feels like chest pain. After all the tests they confirmed my heart is normal. After ER, I went straight to cvs and bought gas x and tums and chest pain finally went away after hours. But plot twist….at the ER they also discovered I had Covid! So were these Covid symptoms that coincidentally arrived 24 hours after my reclast infusion? Maybe. I doubt it. But certainly it didn’t help. Now it’s a day after the er, and I am SO much better. Slight chills and fever, but manageable. Less hit-by-a-truck and more mild-flu-cuddle-up-to-netflix. My takeaway is, if you have this and have chest pains, try tums and gas x. I can’t really rate this drug. I had a Reclast infusion at the end of January (now end of May). After the Reclast my knees really hurt. Difficult to exercise—walk, spin and especially yoga. Went to ortho who imaged my knees. Apparently, I was unaware that I have terrible arthritis in my knees. It never hurt before. 4 months later, I’m still trying to do the exercises that used to be easy to do. I have no idea if this medication works for me—but it sure brought attention to my arthritis. Listening to so many complaints and seeing the possible side effects scared the bejusus out of me. I texted a friend who had six month infusions and she said no problems. I followed the water, Tylenol and Claritin advice beginning 36 hours before the infusion and had zero problems or effects. It has been a week now.
