I wanted to share a positive report on Reclast. I did all the recommended preparations of 64 ounces of fluids the day prior, 32 ounces of fluids and Tylenol before the infusion, and I have had no side effects from the treatment at all. I am a person very sensitive to medications, so I was prepared for the worst. I was so relieved it went well, and I want to share to encourage others to please follow the protocol and this drug might work well for you also.

It was the worst experience of my entire life! I am alive because of the grace of God and a decent ER doctor. This medicine should be outlawed! I received an infusion of reclast at about 12 noon on 04012016 and if my sister hadn't called me that day and took me to the ER I would have laid in my bed and died, the side effects have lasted for years, and even my heart was affected. My bone and joint pain doubled and and the ignorant Dr. I was sent to wanted the give me steroid shots!

I only had one infusion. I don't know if my bones are stronger yet. I didn't know I was supposed to have any side effects. I didn't know I was supposed to super hydrate or anything. I went in and had the infusion and then went to work. I never had any issues. I will have a second infusion in a couple of months. I guess I'll super hydrate before I go instead of drinking a cup of coffee. But I still won't expect any problems.

I took Reclast for three years and had no problems. After my fourth infusion, I began getting severe headaches every day all day. I didn’t know why. They went away about 11 months later. I got another, my fifth Reclast infusion and the very next day I got severe headaches again. Saw a neurologist who believes the Reclast is causing my daily migraines. I am on two different meds for the migraines, but still get some headaches. I don’t recommend anyone taking this more than three years. My life now revolves around trying to live with debilitating headaches until medicine is out of my system. Hopefully the Reclast hasn’t caused permanent damage.Read More Read Less

October 2023 was my first infusion It took about 20 minutes once the drip started. That evening, my jaw started aching and that was followed by every other bone in my body aching for less than 24 hr. It was a general flu like feeling. I had taken Tylenol at tree time of the procedure and the next day. Two days later, I felt normal. Two days ago, I had a second Reclast infusion. I took Tylenol and the drip was timed for about 40 minutes to attempt to minimize side effects. Something worked in my favor as I did not have notable unwanted side effects.Read More Read Less

I was so scared to take this drug, I arrived at the infusion center crying. Nurses assured me it is very well tolerated, and of all the drugs they administer this is their favorite for that reason. Wondering if only bad reactions are recorded here or if they don’t hear about bad reactions after infusions. I was prescribed reclast after osteoporosis caused by hyperparathyroidism. I’m 48 and I was told at the infusion center that I was the youngest person they have administered this drug to. Day of infusion was fine. I read this thread morning of and took Claritin and Tylenol only about an hour before. Hydrated day of only. Right on schedule, early next day I woke up and felt like I was in an accident. All the symptoms. Headache, nausea, fever, body aches, stomach ache and chest pain. The chest pain scared me so I took myself to ER. Fever and vomiting at ER. I was given a IV of fluids, nausea meds and ibuprophen. They informed me at er that sometimes stomach pain in women, feels like chest pain. After all the tests they confirmed my heart is normal. After ER, I went straight to cvs and bought gas x and tums and chest pain finally went away after hours. But plot twist….at the ER they also discovered I had Covid! So were these Covid symptoms that coincidentally arrived 24 hours after my reclast infusion? Maybe. I doubt it. But certainly it didn’t help. Now it’s a day after the er, and I am SO much better. Slight chills and fever, but manageable. Less hit-by-a-truck and more mild-flu-cuddle-up-to-netflix. My takeaway is, if you have this and have chest pains, try tums and gas x. I can’t really rate this drug. I had a Reclast infusion at the end of January (now end of May). After the Reclast my knees really hurt. Difficult to exercise—walk, spin and especially yoga. Went to ortho who imaged my knees. Apparently, I was unaware that I have terrible arthritis in my knees. It never hurt before. 4 months later, I’m still trying to do the exercises that used to be easy to do. I have no idea if this medication works for me—but it sure brought attention to my arthritis. Listening to so many complaints and seeing the possible side effects scared the bejusus out of me. I texted a friend who had six month infusions and she said no problems. I followed the water, Tylenol and Claritin advice beginning 36 hours before the infusion and had zero problems or effects. It has been a week now.

Five days since first infusion. Zero issues! Zero side effects! The infusion experience was much better than I thought it would be. I hydrated like crazy two days before and the day of. Forewarning: don't wear a pantsuit with a back zipper, belt, and jacket on hydration days. Not convenient at hourly bathroom visits.

First: I have only had one injection - sept. 2023 - so I have no idea if it will work. It seemed to me that it was better to try it than to lose more and more bone. Side effects on the day received: none. Effects the next day: aching all over, I swear even the skull felt achy. The went away so by day 4 for sure, I felt normal. No side effects that I could identify help on longer than day 2. Bones: ironically, I had a small break a month after the infusion -- which was coincidental. In my case it reminded me WHY I needed to do something to avoid serious breaks in the future. What I am curious about: I am not finding that my nails are stonger, as some have suggested. However sections of my hair that were looking thinner seem to be looking thicker and stronger. Curious if this is just another coincidence or may have something to do with the drug. Next infusion will be in Sept. 2024. One thing I wish there was more definitive info about is nutrition, FWIW. Eg I have been taking D3 a long time. A bit over 3 months after the infusion, a blood test ( for general reasons) showed a low level of Vit D in the blood: is it possible that much more is being utilized due to the drug? How much more? Is Vit K necessary to absorb calcium ( I don't take calcium supplements because my diet has plentiful calcium). Wish we knew more. Based on the few positive reviews here, I did the Reclast infusion a little more than a week ago and not one single side effect! I followed the recommendations that one reviewer posted here. Super hydrated 2 days prior (62 oz water per day). I had been taking calcium and vit d3 supplements weeks prior. Morning of I drank 16 oz of water and took 1 Claritin and a Tylenol. I also asked for a 30 min drip vs the standard 15 min. Later in the day took another Tylenol. Another Claritin and a Tylenol following day. Why the Claritin? Did some research and apparently this is often used for patients undergoing chemo, some chemo drugs cause bone pain and Claritin has histamine in it which can minimize pain. March 25th received Reclast infusion March 24, for osteoporosis. My miracle came after I have been praying. No pain and so thankful!!

Don’t use this drug , terrible reaction and the makers of this drug don’t know how to help you and won’t answer any questions,ER Doctors have no clue how to help you. Please don’t take this drug. This stuff is poison

This infusion is working very well for me. First injection 2 weeks ago. It may be my imagination but my spine pain has significantly decreased, nails are growing. None of the horrible side effects I read about on the site.

this drug has been nothing been a nightmare, my mother received infusion a week ago. severe pain migraine, ended up in ER, sent home symptoms have not subsided, provider never gave her the risks or possible side effects, she is absolutely miserable, its been a week, taking Tylenol and praying for a miracle, be very cautious, had we known she would never have agreed to this.

I had an IV infusion of reclast. I now have prolonged hip and groin pain that is increasing as the months go by. I will never take this drug again. it is horrible! This IV infusion should not be on the market!!

I had my Reclast infusion on July 7, 2023. It’s now 7 months since that day. It has been a long scary anxious journey. I wish I would never have gotten the infusion. My life changed for the worst. I was 63 when I got the infusion and I feel like I am 95 on this day. The fatigue is unbearable. I ache, I lost my taste and desire for food. I cannot sleep. When I consulted with my endocrinologist she did blood work and said I am fine. I am not fine. This infusion is doing things to my body and cells and organs. I feel like a different person than before. My husband and sister say I am different than before. My quality of life has been taken away from me. I just had my infusion yesterday. I can’t speak to the outcome of the treatment as yet but I can share my immediate results since others had negative experiences. My infusion was yesterday. I hydrated Saturday and Sunday based on comments I read here before I consented to the treatment. So far, I’ve had no symptoms, no soreness, no flu like symptoms. I’m optimistic.

This drug is horrible, it causes so .much pain. I will never get this again. I recommend to never take this the side effects are not worth t. Don't get bullied into taking it.

After 3 infusions over 3 years, I was completely out of osteoporosis back to osteopenia. Even my doctor was surprised how well I reacted to it. Now, five years later, I have osteoporosis again, and I’m going for infusion today. Sure I’ll have the same results.
