MY SON HAVE BREATHING PROBLEMS BUT THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS SAFE TO GIVE IT TO HIM. I GAVE THIS MEDICINE TO MY SON AND HE STARTED TO HALLUCINATE, LOOSE CONSCIOUSNESS, AND STARTED HAVING BREATHING DIFFICULTY. EVEN THOUGH HE HAD HIS BREATHING TREATMENT HE STILL COULDNT BREATH AND HIS HEART KEPT RAISING . WHEN I BROUGHT HIM INTO THE THE EMERGENCY ROOM BECAUSE OF THIS ALL THE DOCTOR SAID IT WAS BECAUSE THE MEDICINE HAD CODENE IN IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO FOR MY SON BUT JUST DISCONTINUE THE MEDICINE AND TAKE SOMETHING ELSE WITHOUT CODENE IN IT FOR HIS COLD. THE CODENE WAS WHAT WAS CAUSING MY SON'S PROBLEMS. THE DOCTOR SAID THAT IN CHILDREN THE CODENE MAKES THEM ACT THAT WAY AND LOWERS THERE RESPONSIVENESS AND UNBALANCES THEIR CORDINATION BECAUSE ITS JUST LIKE TAKING TO MUCH BENADRYL WITH A GROWN UP. SO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MEDICINE TO ANY CHILD ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE BREATHING PROBLEMS LIKE MY SON DOES. Read More Read Less

My son (6yrs old)had went through 2 bottles of over the counter cough medicine. When our Doctor gave us this I didn't think it would work. Boy was I wrong! This worked within 30 mins. He finally after almost two weeks got to sleep thru the night.

Beginned taking the poly tan dm 10/12/07. On 10/28/07, I began noticing hives developing on my under arms. I plan to discontine using this prescription until I talk to my doctor.
