I have been battling with my Ulcerative Colitis for 4 years now. I started with 6 pills of Asacol. I could not stand taking that many pills in one day. Then I went to Canasa suppositories that was not enough. It was not reaching high enough in my colon to treat the Colitis. Now I have been on Lialda, 4 pills a day, for 1 year. Went off of it and just did the Canasa for 2 years and then went...

This is my first day on this medication. My doctor gave me some samples to try and when I opened the first blister, I smelled a foul odor. I was just wondering if this was normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

My doctor switched me to this after asacol did not work and gave me bad stomach cramps. At first it gave me headaches but I can deal with that as it has helped my symptoms so much. I take 2 a day and it works great. I just had a colonoscopy and thought I was having a flare up and it turns out the bottom of my colon is inflamed so I am on suppositories now as well. He said that can happen with oral medication. Overall, this drug is great and has made my life a lot better.

I have been on Lialda for two weeks, 4 per day, and that's 2 more than the normal dose. But I have severe ulcerative colitis, diarrhea 10 times a day, some rectal bleeding, much discomfort. I am so much better since I've been on Lialda. I just can't believe it has worked so well so quickly. And, of course, I hope it continues. My only complaint? Flatulance! But I can put up with that as long as my other symptoms have been relieved.

I've now been on this drug for 5 months. I started on 2/day, then was raised to 4/day because I still had symptoms. Last month, my doctor dropped me from 4/day to 2/day and now I'm at 1/day and I still have no symptoms. It seems it takes awhile for it bring you into remission, but I've been there since! As for the comment about not feeling like you have go at all, that happenend to me when I was changing my dosages. Perhaps our bodies just need to adjust.

I have only been on this med for a week. 4 pill each morning. I haven't had any pain but I have not had the urge to "go" all week. Has anyone else experienced this. Oh yeah, my knee joint hurt (or locks) in the front now. This has never happened before.

I just started Lialda, my doctor wanted me to switch from Asocal(6)per day. So far, I'm feeling a little tired and for some reason urine is dark at times, nausea, & at times upset stomache. Other than that I haven't developed any other side effects. Time will tell if they will subside or get worse. I'm hopeful by the feedback I've been reading.

I was diagnosed 5 months ago and immediately put on Lialda 2 (1200mg pills), in the morning once a day. Within a few days I was in remission with no symptoms at all.

I have been on the drug for about 9 months. I was in and out of the hospital for 3 months and 3 days after I started Lialda I was pain free. I take it 2 times a day and have tried to go to 1 a day but had a flair up so went back to 2. No side effects and feel like my old self again.

After years of being on a maintenance program of Asacol, an increased dosage of Asacol along with Rowasa could not bring a flare-up condition under control. Switching to two Lialda tablets per day produced a noticeable improvement within a few days, and I have been mostly symptom free for the past 9 months.

After a full year of Lialda (4 pills in the morning), I still had almost daily symptoms. Rowasa enemas help the most. Doc just switched me to Asacol.

I love this drug.... I was on the verge of having my colon taken out. I hated all the pills. I started off by taking 3 in the morning and that was it. In a month down to two a day. Been having good days every since. Never looked back. I also take imuran and folic acid. Have little tiredness and joint pain, but it is nothing compared with the chronic cramps and depression that UC causes. Would knock over a bank to pay for it, if i had too. Shire offers a card program to help with the cost. I only pay $25.00 month for my RX with the card and my insurance. That is cheap. If your down and out, go see your GI about the drug, if they want asacol or colazol, tell them that this is the same, except it works. DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.Read More Read Less
