I have been battling with my Ulcerative Colitis for 4 years now. I started with 6 pills of Asacol. I could not stand taking that many pills in one day. Then I went to Canasa suppositories that was not enough. It was not reaching high enough in my colon to treat the Colitis. Now I have been on Lialda, 4 pills a day, for 1 year. Went off of it and just did the Canasa for 2 years and then went...

This is my first day on this medication. My doctor gave me some samples to try and when I opened the first blister, I smelled a foul odor. I was just wondering if this was normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

I have Collagenous Colitis. I took Lialda for nearly a year on and off as prescribed. I ended up in the hospital for 10 days (never in before except childbirth) with DIL (drug induced Lupus). A horrible experience. One should be told of this possible side effect. It's now 4 months ago and I'm still recovering.

I have already written a review but afterwards I read a lot of the others, I'm troubled by the report of all the side effects,I have a lot of these problems but never attributed them to Lialda because I have Fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatique,IC and other things so not sure if it's from the meds or not.One thing I read that does concern me that I will get checked is someone said they had a high creatine level and renal failure which worries me. Thus the reaason for my second review,do I have something to worry about or not?Read More Read Less

I was extremely sick w/UC for some time prior to being treated w/ Lialda. This medication has really improved my situation a lot.I still have nasty flares but I'm not sick daily like I was before.

Diagnosed with UC in 2008. Put on Asacol, 12 pills per day with reoccurring flares. I have been switched to Lialda, now over 2 years ago. 4 pills per day with no flares and no side affects.

hair loss not common? ARE YOU KIDDING? If I knew ahead of time - I might not be so shocked. Prepare patients to lose over 50 - 60 % of their hair on this drug!!

I felt really good while taking this drug the first week and was so happy to have found it; however, one morning I woke up to find out I could hardly walk! I had some arthritis in one knee that caused discomfort at times, but when I took Lialda it seemed to target my knees. It took a minor situation and made it huge! I am only 57 but my knees felt as tho I was 100! I verified with my doctor that the drug was the cause and stopped taking it immediately. It took weeks before my knees felt normal again.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with UC in 2008. I was prescribed asacol and just couldn't handle the daily dosage. My dr then prescribed lialda and it has made a remarkable difference. I started out with 4 pills daily and am now on a maintenance dose of 1.2 mg daily! Overall, I feel great. My flare ups have subsided and I am able to manage my condition with diet. The only noticeable side effects I have had to tolerate are joint pain, hair loss and decline in libido. However, I feel my quality of life has greatly improved now that I have control of my UC. 1 Pill twice a day.Few side effects.I was drug free for 30 years, prior to bad flare up. I have a 4" long stricture. No surgeries, I have refused since I was 16, 54 now and i have all my hair! DIET IS IMPORTANT! No coffee, pop, red meat, little sugar,no Liquor.I exercise often.Drink lots of water. Eat fruits before a meal, never just after. You The fruit ferments and bloats you. Apriso also worked for me, for those looking for another treatment. Add Omega 3 to dirt w/ Papaya pills and chewable acidopholous. Aloe Juice slowly added to diet and increased helps the bowels heal. Limit Chocolate. It speeds up and heats up the colon. Good luck!Read More Read Less

Diagnosed a little over 4 years ago, been on and off Lialda ever since. Started on 2, (1 in morning, 1 at night) but I just felt... off... Eventually went to 1 a day, which has been just fine, even during an active flare. I hate pills with a passion, so the fewer I have to take in my life, the better. I supplement that with 2 doses of a prescription-grade probiotic a day. That combo has made a world of difference. No 'normal' side effects, no hair loss, no joint pain, no fatigue. The only side effect seems to be hormonal. I have pain during ovulation now, which I never had before taking this medicine. Read More Read Less
