This medication has been a God-send for me with migraine relief

I took this med for management of Bipolar disorder. It also helped me lose weight(a nice side effect). Over the years the effectiveness dropped to a point that we had to discontinue it.

I take this medication for a mood disorder (bipolar disorder) and I find it to work very well for me. I take 100 mg three times a day and it has controlled my symptoms very well.

Used this medicine at 50mg/day dosage combined with 500/mg day Acetazolamide to treat pressure headaches caused by Pseudotumor Cerebri. Headaches were reduced, but Topamax caused horrible acne breakouts on my face, reduced thought processing speed and short term memory. Side effects were worse than the headaches the drug was supposed to help, so Neurologist took me back off this medicine. Headaches remained reduced simply by taking Acetazolomide.

I have had to modify my doses between 100mg and 200 mg at times to keep my migraines under control. There are still days, where I need other medicines to block the start of a migraine, but I am very satisfied, compared to others. // I use this in conjunction with controlling my myoclonic seizures/jerks

I use topomax in conjunction with another medication as a preventative for my severe migraines. Since I've been on this medication, I no longer take my entire amerge prescription by the end of each month. I can now go several months between refills. I feel topomax has prevented many migraines I would normally have each month.

I was put on Topamax for depression and for weight problems last year at this time I weighed 220 I'm now at 165 I eat well and more healthy not wanting junk food any more. not as many headaches as before.

I have had narcolepsy for 10 yrs but was finally diagosed in 2004 by a excellent neurologist thanks to THIS medication I lead a normal life again with MINOR outburst now and then. For years I was misdiagnosed and was scolded for having high blood sugar ..again if not for Topamax I wouldn't have recovered MY life!!!

I experienced weight loss from Topamax (12 pounds in 6 months, doesn't sound like much but when you go from 114 to 102, it is). I also experienced tingling in my hands and feet, but it was tolerable.

I HAVE TRIED TOPAMAX AND PROBABLY 3-4 OTHER MEDS TO CONTROL MY SEIZURES, NOTHING STILL HASN'T WORKED FOR ME.

I've been on the med. for 8yrs and when taken as prescribed its the best preventative I've been on yet in the many yrs of searching!!!

I added this to tegretol after reviewing several other meds. I have taken for 7 years and been overall satisfied. Has reduced my auras substantially and, I beleive, allowed me to keep working.

Topamax is perfect for my seizure control, but does make my hair fall out, and does cause some thinking / memory problems. The tingling did go away with time. All-in-all, it is a worthwhile trade-off, side-effects to benefit.

I recently started taking this med and it has worked wonders for me in a very short time. My pain is very well controlled and I am not having problems with the side effects even though I do notice I get a little dizzy if I move too quickly. Otherwise, I highly recommend this for migraine prevention.

Very good treatment and If you have seuzures ask your Dr. about Topamax.

I was prescribed this drug as a mood stabilizer for my Bipolar/BPD diagnosis. I did experience some short term memory loss, and a worsening of my disassociative mood swings.

My daughter and I both take Topamax for mood stabilization. However, it has affected both of us in the area of memory. Me more severy than her, as I take a higher dose, and for much longer. But, she's only 12yrs old, and remembering things is key in her life, and she has a lot of difficulty remembering things from week to week. I'm afraid it's gonna start affecting her performance in school. At her last visit to her psychiatrist, he upped her dose from 125mg to 200mg, and now I'm thinking that was not such a great idea. IDK. I think this may not be the med for her at all.Read More Read Less
