After a fourth dose of this medication, I became so exhausted that I was unable to get out of bed, lost all appetite and found breathing difficult (short of breath). This continued until my final dose this morning. I just looked up this website to determine whether others have similar problems & was surprised that they do. There are other meds for UTIs. It's not worth becoming exhausted for several days to take this. Never again..

This medication, that i took for two days, made me very ill. I was bleeding from my rectum, vomiting, and very fatigue. Headaches so bad that i felt my brain was throbbing. After i quit taking the medication all symptoms went away.

Was given this antibiotic by my doctor, I started immediatly to be sick and had a fever and after 5 days phoned the surgery and was told to stop taking and given a different antibiotic, which cleared my infection. Will not take this drug againg

This worked very good for me with no side effects.

I took the full recommended course of treatment and by the last day was not having any urinary issues--but oh, so tired. Then came chills, fever, sweats, dizziness, loss of appetite, etc. If it weren't for those comments posted, I would have just thought it was the flu. Never again!

I have been taking this medication for four days now. I am EXTREMELY nauseated and a little fatigued. Otherwise, this medicine is working well.

I have been having very vivid but scary sad dreams with this medication. This morning, it was a very sad and scary dream about when my children were young. i can't wait till I am done!

Beware of an allergic reaction to this drug. 10 days after first taking it I developed a red rash on my legs, huge hives all over that itched incessantly and swollen lips and face. I also became extremely weak to the point where I had to sit down all the time. The itch and swelling lasted for 3 - 4 days. Since I stopped the medication after 10 days I don't know how effective it was.

If you're reading this, please listen to all theae negative reviews before starting it. If you have a UTI, ask your Dr. For CIPRO. Nitro. has landed me in the ER twice now. Violently ill. Dizziness, extreme nausea, prohectile vomitting, diarrhea, high fever, chills, muscle and joint pain, especially in the hands and feet. I speak honeatly when I tell you that I thought I was dying. I have had almost continual diarrhea and Nausea for the last 5 weeks. I have to take it until the end of the year and am not happy.

I've been taking this for 2 days, and I feel awful! The nausea hasn't stopped since I took the first pill, and i feel feverish. Calling the doctor in the morning.

This is awful. I feel worse on the medication then when I had the UTI. Fever, chills, aches and pains so bad I thought I had the flu. Never again.

Have had UTIs in the past and CIPRO 500 MG works for me. This time doctor substituted this drug and I had an adverse reaction -- headache and nausea -- stopped taking, went back and got a prescription for CIPRO which I'd requested in the first place. Why can't doctors hear their patients? The nitrofurantoin did stop the pain and burning of the UTI but the side effects aren't worth it when I can take CIPRO and get relief and have no side effects PLUS the nitro is 10 times more expensive than the CIPRO at my local CVS.Read More Read Less

I took Nitrofurantion oral for 10 days 1capsule every 12hrs I didn`t have any bad side effect only I felt a little bit tired and I needed to take a nap every day after lunch. But I was taking it with food and I drink a lot of water during the day. And I am going to start it again tomorrow for 3 months for a urine truck infection.

Couldn't understand what was causing the nausea, headache and dizziness so I decided to look up the side effects and found others had the same problems. No more for me!

This medicine has me feeling better than any other that has been prescribed. Only taking it for a few days, but have more energy and no pain.

After reading all the reviews I was scared to take this. So, I made sure to drink a full glass of water before I took it and right before bed. I took it with lunch and with dinner, in the middle of the meal. I never experienced any symptoms and took two a day for one week.

I felt so sick with every tablet & after finishing them I was sick! But I have never felt so tired & drained ever & that was a horrid feeling, it cleared up my kidney pain but what a horrible week the sickness & tiredness made me feel worse!

I experienced the side effect!! AWFUL I started taking this medicine& the very next day I thought I had the flu, my head was pounding, I was short of breath & my chest was very heavy. I slept for 12 hours straight & continued with this medicine, didn't realize until 7 days later that I was experiencing the side effects. The headaches were awful, I went to bed with a headache & woke up with one. 36 hours after I stopped taking the meds I felt 90% better

I started taking this medication and by the second day (fourth dose), I broke out in a rash! My pulse was near 140, I had fluttering in my chest. I felt really bad, and very, very tired!
