It took 2-3 doses before I started to feel the true effectiveness of the medication. OTC cough medicine wasn’t helping so I went to the doctor and was prescribed this medicine. I was finally able to sleep and get rest. Coughing fits returned when the 8 hours was up and I took next dose and it helped. Only downside is I got really constipated. It didn’t subside until I stopped taking the medication.

Did nothing for my cough. It made me faint from low blood pressure.

Benzonatate it absolutely does nothing for cough. It made my symptoms worse.

This stuff works great. Was having trouble sleeping because I had a stuffy nose and when I slept on my back, it would drip and cause coughing fits. This stuff stopped the coughs and I could get a good night sleep. Only problem was insurance would not cover this as according to them a bottle of Robutustin works just as well,

Worthless. Was prescribed this for bronchitis. It did nothing, so I bought some Nyquil instead and slept in peace.

like many patients listed in reviews, a upper respiratory infection had me coughing so hard that I was gagging and throwing up. Dr gave me the cough pearls and warned me that for some people it works and some not. I thought I was a "not" person the first 24 hours but the night cough really started to ease off and I did get some sleep. I have to say yes it did help. I have been coughing for 6 days. Today i got this medicine hoping I was going to sleep well. Not happening. Why won't these doctors listen to you when you tell them what you need to help your cough in their office. Anyway a friend brought over some Hydro something that really worked. Slept very comfortable and rested. NO COUGH!!! My friend should be a doctor.

Coughing for over 11 days. Sinusitis turned into bronchitis. It’s been 6 days and no relief from cough yet. Doctor finally Rx cough syrup and told me to cease the Benoznatate. Gladly!

Able to stop my coughing and I could finally sleep! What a relief. I found it within a few minutes after taking it I was fast asleep it really helped.

I've been taking it for a couple of days, the cough is still so bad, I can hardly sleep or work (I work in a school where I have to talk, a lot!) I'm taking it as directed. I am on the third full day; I'm supposed to be taking it for 10. I may as well down a bottle of NyQuill!

This is a miracle pill. It worked wonders for me. I was at wits end coughing uncontrollably . I could feel the inflammation in my airway. My ribs were so sore. 15 mins after taking this pill my coughing stopped completely. I' m so grateful to be one of the lucky ones.

Very dry cough 24/7 for two weeks. This medication does not work. I'm having better luck with over the counter Coricidin

Prescribed at Walk-in Clinic. I only went because I was recently diagnosed with Glaucoma and my OTC med (that’s worked in the past) indicated not to take if you have Glaucoma. This medication had the opposite effect of what is indicated, ie didn’t make me drowsy, but instead I became more agitated/restless. My cough didn’t subside and my sinusitis seemed to have gotten worse. I was anxious and nauseous. I took it for 7 days (3 days less than prescribed) and after I stopped taking it, I already started feeling much better and my nose is not stuffed and I am not anxious or nauseous. I haven't had much luck with cough medicines, but my first dose helped within 30 minutes. I still can cough to get rid of gunk, but am not coughing so hard I cry. The medication is working far better than I expected and much better than Nyquil/Dayquil. It has made me a tiny bit sleepy, but NOTHING compared to any other cold/cough medications. My first dose lasted all night for me and did not need to retake until the next morning. Which I was still doing well, but did not want to slip back into the uncontrollable coughing. Did nothing for my cough. Still can’t get sleep due to cough. Chest hurts from cough.

First night, cough increased and I felt like it increased the mucus. I also had a bloody nose and loose bowels shortly after taking it. Thinking may be unrelated, I took again on the second night as I was primarily coughing more in the evening. Within 15 - 30 mins...same symptoms, a tad less severe than the night before, but otherwise I was not experiencing that level of cough throughout the entire day. Symptoms did subside more quickly and were manageable as long as I kept drinking water and tried to sleep sitting up in a recliner (but I was also up more going to the bathroom because of having to drink water). I get colds often lately due to people coming to work sick or being around kids. 4 weeks consistently into this last cold that included painful dry cough making my chest and diaphragm hurt from coughing so aggressively. A visit to the hospital produced clear chest X-ray. They gave me this stuff because I can sleep or function without constant cough drops I’ve consumed by the dozen. Eager for relief as all the best OTC stuff was no longer responding. After I the first dose, no relief. I had this cough for weeks so gave it another try…few more doses and now this cough is angry, dry vicious spasms!!! I barely sleep 3 hours per night. Feels like a placebo!!! Made cough much worst!
