This medication has had absolutely no effect on my cough whatsoever. A longer or more more detailed explanation is not necessary. The reviews are correct. It is garbage. If your caregiver prescribes it, ask (demand) something else.

It's a very small pill, easy to swallow but felt no different after taking 200 mg capsule. It was prescribed for a cough and supposedly makes you drowsy. I was awake all-night coughing, no difference after taking medication. Waste of money, not effective at all.

I had been coughing violently for a month and Benzonatate 100mg is the only thing that calmed my cough. My cough was completely gone in about a week.

Absolutely no improvement in cough!! ER doc prescribed 200 mg 3 times per day when I presented there with persistent cough, inability to sleep, and coughing so forcefully that I gagged and felt like vomiting. After taking 6 pearles, am discontinuing as it has not helped me at all.

I took this medication as prescribed as I was laying down I started to feel this overwhelming drowsy feeling (I wasn’t expecting that ) which caused me to have a panic attack. I eventually calmed myself down and fell asleep with minimal coughing. I didn’t know this medication has the drowsy affect. I was soooo scared.

I had been coughing dramatically for weeks. Two instances caused dizziness and hyperventilation because my coughing was so extreme, I couldn't breathe IN. It was like a light switch turning off about 90 minutes after taking my first dose. I am now coughing every once in a while to expel congestion, but as expected... no longer in fits. I completely understand that everyone's body acts differently, but am quite glad that I'm in the group of people for whom this works.

Did absolutely nothing for my cough. Was hoping it would at least get rid of the "wake me up in the middle of the night uncontrollable coughs" but did not. Was not worth even trying.

Only thing that stopped my coughing. This stuff is magic!

Prescribed for cough, and maybe it did help suppress it a bit but it gave me the mother of all head-exploding headaches, 18 hours later and my head's still pounding. I'd rather be coughing.

I'm only on my third pill, but I see no difference. I am still taking cough drops throughout the day. There may be some help, but I can't tell it.

I'm over 60 years old and have plenty of experience with colds, bronchitis, flu, etc. over the years. Normally when a condition is bad enough for me to go to the doctor, my prescription includes an antibiotic, inhaler, and cough suppresser (usually codeine). I've been battling a nasty cough for two weeks now and the diagnosis was a nasal infection. This time the prescription was for antibiotics, a nasal spray, and this stuff - benzonatate. It's the first time I've been prescribed benzonatate, and for me it has been absolutely useless. I might as well eat M&M's for all the good it does. Do not diminish cough at all that I experienced.

Stopping coughing almost immediately

I have what my pulmonologist called “an irritable airway”. And asthma. This med was a Godsend. Can’t say enough good snout it. My mother on the other hand did not get relief from her cough, but I feel it was due to her congestion issue not just a cough issue.

The med has somewhat helped depress my cough. But it didn’t help the cause of my cough. I tend to take it at night to be able to sleep through the night. I decided to take it at work, bad idea! It made me very light headed. I had to sit down for a minute. I’m sure everyone experiences is slightly different. Just be cautious where you are taking it.

I was coughing so much, my ribs hurt me. This Med solved the problem.

After I have had a cold for a few days I seem to wake up coughing from a dry throat (probably caused by the cold medications I have taken). Taking one of these capsules before I go to bed helps so much! I can sleep through the night without waking up coughing. While I understand they don't work for everyone, I would still give them a 5 star rating.

Cough is no better. Not hard to take a pill, especially as small as this one is. Dr.’s need to realize people know their bodies better than a stranger, which is what a Dr. is when you meet them. If I say I have an upper respiratory infection coming on (coughing up green phlegm) that requires an antibiotic. Not a cough suppressant.

When I take this med I do not cough. I have had no reactions or side effects. I realize everyone is different, but this med worked great for me.

Still have rash after taking first (and last) dose
