I write this with the intention to share my experiences with the highly potent and very addictive medication, Fentanyl. I myself use the Duragesic Patches (by Janssen), I have found through trail and error that the patches Fentanyl (the Generic brands by other companies just don't have the same Strength or potency as this brand name I use). I have unfortunately been on the patches for what seems l...

Easy to use, but with some sight itching/redness. Patch does not stay fully attached after shower. Overall easy and effective treatment of long term severe pain management. I would recommend this product.Better than taking 20 hydrocodone pills daily.

I have been using Duragesic Patch for severe pain caused by fibromyalgia. I have been using this patch for over 10 years:( and think getting me off it is way over due. I already take; Sevella, Lyrica, and Tramadol along with more other medications to counter act the side effects of the above. I know that I have been on it too long and DO suffer heavy bouts of withdrawals that I have gone through due to reasons for not having at pharmacies for; at one time a week. I am unable to take the generic patch thus having to pay $289.95 once per month for 2 boxes of 5 each with 75mg to change every 72 hours. This equals to the week mentioned above of about 3 patches that week before pharmacy could finally get me the medication. Horrifically,Serious and catastrophic withdrawals were brought about that week; with the same the other times I have had to do without. And it becomes too expensive for me to purchase along with all the other medications totalling over $800.00 just in medicines monthly; that is with the use of many generic medicines included.Read More Read Less

I have had spinal fusion of L4-5 and herniated T6/7 with DDD. I was just bumped up to 50 and am concidering 75. I wear it for 48hrs. Also,I only wear my patch on my back upper hip just low enough that it doesn't rub on panties. Your skin has to be dry when you change it. Also, you need to hold it in place and apply pressure. Pick a hairless area for best results.

i have been on this drug for almost 4 years for lupas complications, arthiritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain.It has been a lifesaver,But it is for long term dont plan on getting off soon and know this before getting on because if I run out withdrawels is hell and i mean hell I really wish I had this information before I started taking this medication and even now I am researching more on this medication trying to find out how to deal with thsi because my dr. is out of town and my presriptionn is due and you just cant go somewhere else to get this kind of medicine and I didnt know all of this either when I started this medication,I realize that prescription drugs are now the so called new street drug now put it really makes it hard on those people who honestly need there medicine, please triple so called scripts have to go every 30 days exactly well the doctors cant possibly plan there vacations and stuff around all there patients I certanly dont blame my doctor hes been wonderful thru all of this. And most of all make sure you have a really good and honest dr.that is a strait talker he told me everything he knew we were both sort of new to this treatment. And I have gotten bad patches before so beware no what your used to . thank you and good luckRead More Read Less

been taking for 6months due due chronic neck pain, fused, bulging and protruding disc. Was very effective first couple of months. Now taking 75mcg plus 4 10/325 norco a day. had problems with patches falling off so I switched to Mylan Brand stays on but doesnt last as long, have to change every 48hrs I have a lot of side effects itching, mood swings, achiness, extreme tiredness, anxiety attacks, hot flashes. i wish i had never started this med. even tho my pain level is decreased the side effects are horrible. and god forbid it falls off or runs out the withdrawls are very painful and emotional. im going to discuss with my doctor about trying to wheaning off them, however im scared.Read More Read Less

My son who has 3 bad discs takes 150 mg. of this drug. Now has had a stroke and is on oxygen 24/7. I caught him licking these patches. He is so addicted to this drug. I will not fill it again. He is totally confused and suicidal. Please don't take this drug.

Duragesic patches give me a more consistent level of pain relief than any oral med I have tried. The only downside for this medication is that it is affected by body temperature, so that if you are outside in hot weather - that will cause you to receive an abnormally high dosage, leading to serious side effects. Overall - I like it the best of any opioid I have ever used.

I took this drug 75 mcg/hr every 48 hrs for two years after a long run with vicodin, percocet and oxycontin. This drug almost ruined my life! Is it effective for pain? YOU BET!! But! If you ever plan to come off of it, may God have mercy on your soul ! The physical withdrawl was hellacious at best, and my experience has been that while pain doctors are GREAT at prescribing, they stink at tapering patients down. Do your research before attempting to come off and be prepared for it to be rough for awhile. Read More Read Less

I have had fibromyalgia since 1985 was 35 than. have been in severe pain since than and taken every pain med. am on patch now 5 yrs. went from 25 to 75 now. helps pain but at first severe nite terrors. has taken away my appetite. i sweat/freeze alot when drug is wearing off. does not last 72 hrs. my last dr. let me change every two days. this dr. won't listen and i must change every three days. i took 20mg oxcontin before for breakthru which helped a lot. this dr. wont give it to me. so i sweat/freeze a lot and have lots of breakthru pain. was much better with 50mcg and 20mg oxcontin every 12 hours. i take walmart brand patch, does not last and always falling off, i tape it. name brand patch lasted longer and did not come off. helps pain. i hate taking it but am left with little choices for pain after so many yrs.i suggest you stay on low dose as long as you can. i suffered a lot because i know when this quits working i am up creek without a paddle. its taken 4 years to get up to 75. i needed more all along but knew there is not much more on market yet for this severe of pain.Read More Read Less

I have had very little side effects from the patch. I have found the "Walmart" version to be more user friendly and less chance of it coming off unknowingly.

I have been batteling neck, thorasic & lumbar pain for several years. I have arthritis, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and 9 bulging discs. I have been on just about every drug known to man and nothing works very well. I was placed on the max dose 150 mcg. right off the bat. I've had a hell of a time just getting them to stay on as seams to be the theme with most of the posts. As far as the effectiveness I'm not overly thrilled yet but I'm going to give it a few more weeks. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but 5 days into wearing them I became overly tired, was getting the cold sweats and headaches. That lasted for about a day and a half then passed. I'm praying these work because I'm about at the end of my rope. Oh I also take about 3 10-325 hydrocodone during the day for break through.Read More Read Less

Started with 25mg patch eventually increasing to 125 mg patches. Effective for pain, but caused drowsiness at higher doses. Eventually decreased to75mg patch. Effective with fewer side effects. Tried reducing patch to 50 mg. This worked well for first 2 weeks, then pain increased again. There are times when it is easy to forget to change patches. After 72 hours withdrawl set in.
