After trying 4 other drugs for depression, I finally got on this; and it works great! Depression has subsided, and I sleep much better and rise without a "hangover" feeling. No side effects that I can tell.

This drug is very dangerous -needs tobe takenoff the market. - 15 mg. caused depression 10 times worse than it was and took 2 days to recover from it. It actually gave me depression -the worst I ever had. DONT TAKE IT

I wrote a review in September, figured it would help to do a follow-up. My muscle aches are still there. It definately puts me to sleep. Before I couldn't sleep, no matter what I took, now I found something that works, after several trials & errors, & it's made me gain 35 lbs. in 6 months. My hands & feet are extremely swollen & sore. Two of my finger tips on my left hand are constantly numb. 8 hours of sleep is not worth 35 lbs. & numb, swollen, aching hands. Back to the drawing board. :(

taking a medication for depression is trial and error, i tried other ones that just killed any sex drive, not with this one at all, no weight gain, but yes to wild dreams and dry mouth, depression much better at 30mg(9 months)if i could find one drug with no side effects that would be great, but now know that is not possible.

I started taking 30 mg at night to help me sleep and also to supplement my anti-depressant (Zoloft). It worked good - too good. I had trouble waking up in the morning and often slept through my alarm. I started taking it earlier in the evening (around 7:00pm). This worked great. Slept soundly. Then I noticed I was gaining weight quickly. I gained 25 pounds in 3 months. My appetite increased - I especially craved sweets. I told my doctor that the weight gain made me even more depressed and I felt terrible. My clothes wer too tight, nothing fit me anymore. I stopped taking it and right away, I could not sleep. I was lucky if I got 3 hours of sleep a night. I started to lose weight though - lost about 4 pounds but then had trouble sleeping. My doctor put me on 7.5 milligrams per night. I gained the 4 pounds back immediately. I stopped taking it. My doctor put me on Seroquel. I'm going to try it but if it makes me eat more or gain weight, I will stop taking it. Read More Read Less

I take 15 mg at bedtime to help sleep and with GAD and Depression. It will knock you out, had some vivid dreams. Not scary dreams. Felt a little out of it in the morning. Don't take it too late at night or it's tough getting up. I've only been on it 1 week. Hopefully, won't need it on a regular basis. Keep Hope and GOD with you for strength.

FINALLY, something that helps me sleep.. tried every drug out there for sleep and NOTHING worked. Somehow i never build a tolerance to it! My body built up tolerance to Ambien Cr 12.5, Lunesta 3mg, Rozerem 8mg, Seroquel 100 mg, but Remeron (mirtazipine) has not! The only downfall is that it is difficult to wake up, plus i take this with a 2mg Ativan and its the perfect combination for my extreme insomnia/depression.

Taken as a supplement to Celexa. I take it for PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. It has really seemed to help a great deal. I have experienced a strange side effect though. I've developed either PAD or RLS. My doctor and I are working to find out if it's specifically the medication or whether it's merely exacerbating an already existent condition. Also tried to take it in the morning to balance out the drowsiness and it has helped a great deal. I take my dose have a cup or two of coffee and I'm good to go. Have a strange feeling of tension on occasion as well, much like if my whole body were tense in anticipation of a blow or some sort of action or reaction. (It's really hard to describe) Going to give it the good ol' college try and we shall see how steady she sails.Read More Read Less

Was using it 30 mg for insomnia and anxiety worked great! First time in my life I sleeped for 8hrs straight it was wonderful. When it stopped working I went off it for a few days and then started back up and it work amazing again(as instructed by doctor).Did have vivid dreams on it for some reason which was kind neat. Have stopped using it because of wieght gain!! Other than that it is a great drug for sleeping, and without the addiction side affects like other sleeping ads.

This drug was not helpful at all. I wanted to sleep all the time, which made me even more depressed. I also had swelling in my hands and feet, and always wanting to eat..

I have been taking mirtazapine 30mg at bedtime for a year now. It has stopped my anxiety attacks in the middle of the night.I take it with trazodone 100mg. For the first time in my life I am sleeping 7-8 hrs. a night. Before the medications I slept maybe 2 hrs. a night. My life has changed. the bad part, I have gained 20 lbs. I also have very little energy. But the sleeping at night is worth it, as is no more anxiety attacks!
