After trying 4 other drugs for depression, I finally got on this; and it works great! Depression has subsided, and I sleep much better and rise without a "hangover" feeling. No side effects that I can tell.

This drug is very dangerous -needs tobe takenoff the market. - 15 mg. caused depression 10 times worse than it was and took 2 days to recover from it. It actually gave me depression -the worst I ever had. DONT TAKE IT

I have been taking Mirtazapine for about 6 years now. I was first on 15mg for about a year and still found I was having negative thoughts, so my doctor placed me on 30mg. I have found its great for my possitive thoughts, but I have recently decided to go back to the 15mg in the hope to eventually stop it all together. I have noticed since changing to the lower dose that I have lost all interest in sex. I wonder if this is a problem that will stick around? I feel like I will never have feeling back again.Read More Read Less

Have been taking 15 mg for about a month for GAD and related sleep issues. This med will let you sleep for sure but allow a good eight hours. I find it's best to take the med around 9:00 pm so that I'm not too groggy in the morning. Will also give you the munchies so have to be disciplined about eating. Overall, I find it works well.

I had to go off Lithium after 30 years for medical reasons. This med has worked for me. Especially my sleeping habits! It does work for me but it feel it has deminished my thought processes. That could be good too though. I'm not sure if I should live with that side effect or change?

I have been using Mirtazapine, 45mg, and it has been great for sleep; however, I still don't feel 100% better. I still have minor bouts of sadness, anxiety and sleepiness. My next Psy.D. visit I plan on asking for an increase or a change in medication. I haven't experienced any sudden increase in cravings or appetite.

I started taking 30mg(1 in a.m. 1 in p.m.) of Mirtazapine about a month ago for ocd anxiety and depression. I take it along with another antidepressant. I have constant anxiety from morning to night. The first night i took it slept 16 hours.I felt very spacey and lethargic. I felt almost more deprssed but now am starting to feel great! My appetite has not changed, but when i do eat, i feel as though i can't stop-it's like having the munchies. I've gained a lot of weight. It has worked incredibly for my anxiety. I am much calmer and laid back.Read More Read Less

I eat about 20 to 30 minutes after taking it. I feel a little relief from the depression. I am also taking another antidepression medication in conjunction with mirtazapine. It does not help with my sleeping disorder. I still awaken about four hours after taking.

Started taking 15mg 4 nights ago, and now taking 30mg. It puts me to sleep, but like everything else can not keep me asleep. I have a consistent drunk feeling through out the day which makes getting anything done at work almost impossible.

I'm retired military. I could fall asleep easy enough, but was waking up between 12 and 2 AM. I couldn't get back to sleep. The VA put me on a low dose (15 mg) and it has helped me by being able to easily go back to sleep.

I have only been on Mirtazapine two weeks so early days for me but I am feeling so much better. I was flitting between extreme anxiety and suicidal thoughts before, so great improvement. Side effects for me: No weight gain as yet but I'm being very cautious. No real change in appetite but I do crave sugar more than usual. The main problem is my skin and eyes - extremely dry and also I have more spots/pimples than usual. I can only put this down to the medication as normally my skin is quite good. But....i would rather be happy and a bit spotty than depressed..................!!! Read More Read Less

I started with 30 MG for depression and anxiety. I must say it doesn't affect my sex drive. I'm now on 60 MG. I've managed not to gain any weight so far because I'm on a constant vigil despite the mad increase in appetite. I stay hungry. I don't know how much longer I can go on without weight gain. I feel that inevitably I will succumb to a significant increase in weight. It's like having the munchies when I was self medicating. It’s a bummer because it works well for me for depression and against anxiety. I got off my previous depression medication because of the lack of sex drive. Now there’s no affect on sex drive but who wants the extra 25 to 30 lbs. It’s like someone mentioned in a previous review a trial and error (hit and miss) type proposition.Read More Read Less
