After trying 4 other drugs for depression, I finally got on this; and it works great! Depression has subsided, and I sleep much better and rise without a "hangover" feeling. No side effects that I can tell.

This drug is very dangerous -needs tobe takenoff the market. - 15 mg. caused depression 10 times worse than it was and took 2 days to recover from it. It actually gave me depression -the worst I ever had. DONT TAKE IT

have been on this medication for a few weeks in combination with Sertraline 50mg. Started at 15 mg then went up to 30 mg. I'm finally getting sleep, feeling a lot better. My Dr put me on this to cut the anxiety from Zoloft and also insomnia. Also to help me put on weight, which it has but not uncontrollably. So far happy with the results.

First month on this drug was good. Side effects of severe headache and intense hunger disappeared on Day 7. However, at my first refill the pharmacy used a different manufacturer, TEVA. 11 days later I have stopped taking this drug altogether. My symptoms were consistent with my normal reactions to wheat and dairy. Called TEVA and they say it does not contain gluten, but it does contain lactose, which is derived from milk. HOWEVER, they do not use a gluten-free facility so cross-contamination could very easily occur. I do NOT have Celiacs disease, but I am gluten intolerant although I can consume gluten on occasion in small quantities. I had a severe gluten type reaction which included bloating (I went from slim and trim to looking 7 months pregnant in 5 days, with no weight gain; flu-like symptoms, chills and shivering (temps outside were 100 degrees, 80 inside), always felt like I had overeaten even when I had eaten nothing; sinuses stuffed up like I had a head cold, dry scratchy throat; general feeling of malaise. 56 hours after my last dose I am finally starting to feel "normal" again. I'm not sure if my reaction was manufacturer-based, or if it was a build-up in my system of mirtazapine. I was taking 15mg once a day.Read More Read Less

It has increased my need for sleep time. Already was occasionally over-sleeping. No improvement in mood.

Was taking 300mg of Venlafaxine but experinced excessive weight gain. Pysch doctor downed my dose of Venlafaxine to 150mg and put me on 15mg of Mirtazapine. This was to lessen weight gain and improve sex drive. Didnt do either for me and had to quit taking the drug because it was causing a sleep problem for me. My wife said that it was causing me to quit breathing like a sleep apenea problem and I would wake up feeling extremely tired. Also caused me to snore loudly, more than normal.

Bipolar and depressed. This drug does not seem to be working, I need to sleep more than I am. I stay tired because I am not resting long enough.

The best "side effect" is it is taken at bedtime and is an aid in falling asleep and staying asleep.

I truly hate this drug, it destroyed my life with my boyfriend and almost with my kids. I felt angry, impulsive and hostile. I would think things that were out of the ordinary and have terrible nightmares. I was very snappy and lost my temper quite a bit. I would get furious over the smallest things. I expressed my anger in very unhealthy ways. I got really sick and had a hard time breathing out of my nose. I got painful blisters in my mouth on my tongue that wouldn't go away. I had continuous shakes and was extremely tired all the time. I wanted to clean all the time, this drug was horrible in so many ways. The only thing it did help was my anxiety, i was able to talk to people without sweating or feeling nervous. I took the medication for 1 month and all that stuff happened to me. I do not recommend this drug at all. I have been off of this drug for about 3 months now and was placed on Prozac which has stopped all symptoms. I am very happy with it.Read More Read Less

My back was broken in an automobile accident with some damage to my spinal cord. I was given this medication before I came home from rehabilitation hospital for depression and to increase my appetite. I have been taking it for 10 months and I haven't experienced any extreme highs or lows. Seem to be on a pretty even keel. However, I have gained almost 35 pounds! I have an uncontrollable appetite! Try hard to eat healthy but it doesn't seem to matter. I have trouble exercising due to residual effects of the accident. I really want to get off this medication!!! It does make me groggy, but doesn't help me sleep!Read More Read Less

Wake up sleepy and continue that way most of the day; can't concentrate on important matters and can't seem to get anything done; seems my body and mind are not connected. Am discontinuing this medication as side effects outweigh benefits.

I have been taking this for almost 2 years. I am an insomniac following the birth of my second child (colicy baby). After being basically sleepless and on increasingly strong sleeping tablets, was given this drug by a psyciatrist. Has worked, could stop taking sleeping tablets after 1 year. It worked well. I now have vivid dreams (good and bad) for the first time in a long time. Am still a bit snippy, and gained 30 pounds. Weight gain is causing some depression though. Gym 4 times a week has little effect. Severe water retention as well. Read More Read Less

I have been on 30 mg for about a month now. I haven't noticed much in the way of improvement, but have noticed a lot in the way of side effects. I'm type 2 diabetic and until I started taking this it was well under control. Since, my levels have shot up at least 2o points fasting or with meals. I'm also having a very bad reaction with my asthma. I hadn't had to use my inhaler much at all for the last two years, with this med...I can't seem to keep needing it several times a day and I'm coughing all the time. I have been having problems with brain zaps and some dizziness. I'm having dreams that seem real and I can almost remember them when I wake up. I'm still tired during the day, and still don't have much oomph. All in all, I am looking forward to changing to something else soon.Read More Read Less

After trying all the other drugs with bad side effects, this drug has saved my life. I now feel calm in the eye of the storm. Side effects are weight gain and bit tired waking up.

My mother has been on prozac for years and was given this med three years ago as a sleeping pill. It doesn't seem good for much other usage than that. But she has been sleeping well.

My doctor put me on Mirtazapine for divorce related stress and depression. I was having some suicidal thoughts, was quited angry and depressed. I had lost over 18 lbs from the stress, and was sleeping only 3-4 hours a night. Since taking Mirtazapine for 2 weeks now, while I have gained back about 5 lbs., but am no longer angry, depressed, or have suicidal thoughts. The only real negative for me is that once I take it at night, I better be prepared to sleep between 8-12 hours. If awoken after 6 hours, Im wiped out all day. And the bad part is, Im on the lowest dosage.Read More Read Less
