I received Topotecan only once a week for three weeks then 1 week off. This was my third set of chemo treatments. When I was first diagnosed I was stage 2b receiving radiation and Cistplatin and 2 inner implant treatments. 6 months after the end of this course of treatment they found a nodule in my upper right lobe which was diagnosed by biopsy to be cervical cancer bumping me up to stage 4b this was surgically removed followed by course of treatment with three drugs carboplatin/ paxitaxil/ avastin every three weeks. The side effects were extreme for me and this course of treatment failed. Eight months from the first lung tumor, I again had a pet scan showing a new nodule in the upper left lung. They told me surgery was not an option this time so I totally thought that the Topotecan treatment I started was not going to help me. I had no side effects except occasional constipation. I didn't even lose my hair which had just started to regrow. After 9 treatments a new pet scan showed the shrinkage to be phenominal with very little activity remaining in the original cervical tumor. I received 6 more treatments and the next pet scan showed no active cancer in my body not in lung or cervix. I am now waiting until Feb. for my next scan to see if it has a lasting effect. My oncologist was surprised and yet thrilled with my results although he said it still might erupt somewhere else.Read More Read Less

Easy to take compared to the platimum chemo's I have had in the past. Did lose my hair. After 1st month CA125 dropped some, 56>44. After 2nd round CA125 increase from 44>52. Just had third. I guess this can go on for many treatments. Taking is in three day groups and 28 cycle.
